An Experiment

FTW (For The Wynn)

Recommended Posts

Following some various failures, I'm attempting to expand my cardmaking abilities. To that end, I am going to start creating experimental cards. There is no difference between these and any other cards I post, but I'm experimenting nonetheless. Anyway, tell me what you think.

This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be summoned during your first turn. This card can only be Special Summoned by sending the top 3 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard. As long as this face-up card is on the field, Machine-Type monsters you control are unaffected by your opponent's Trap Cards. Once per turn, during your Main Phase, you can Tribute 1 Machine-Type monster you control to Special Summon 1 Machine-Type monster from your Graveyard whose level is less than the Tributed monster's level. Once per turn, when your opponent declares an attack you can Tribute 1 Machine-Type monster you control to negate the attack.

Yes, I am aware the pic is of a Gundam. I don't care.

Really like this card. The effect is usefull, yet i think that the top 3 cards is too little a cost, alittle OP'd.
Name/Type: 7/10 - Too complicated
Attribute/Level: 7/10 - I would think DARK would be a better fit/ maybe 1 star too much?
Pic: 9/10
Stats: 8/10 - Think it's a little short for a Level 10 monster, but i do like 50's ;)
Effect: 9/10 - Other than the small summoning condition, I really like the effect. It's a combination of several plain effects, which is what makes it unique^^
OCG: 9.5/10 - A tiny fix (I'm extremely picky):

This card cannot be summoned during your first turn. This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by sending the top 3 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard. As long as this card remains face-up on the field, Machine-Type monsters you control are unaffected by your opponent's Trap Cards. Once per turn, during your Main Phase, you can Tribute 1 Machine-Type monster you control to Special Summon 1 Machine-Type monster from your Graveyard whose level is less than the Tributed monster. Once per turn, when your opponent declares an attack, you can Tribute 1 Machine-Type monster you control to negate the attack.

An overall 8.9/10 ;)

Usually, this would be spam. However, 3 things come into play here that make this otherwise.

1. I'm extremely lenient and this is, after all, an experiment at improving my skills by one failure after another to improve my success as a whole.
2. You're an awesome person.
3. I'm assuming you would just give me the same rate, which means you had nothing further to add to it.

Thanks anyway Starrk, having someone back-up another persons ideas is almost as good as the ideas themselves in my book.

I was going to rate your card in a minute. I have a couple things to rate before yours.

Oops, my bad then. I understand completely.

Pardon me a few minutes gentlemen while I kindly seek a doctor who will attempt to remove my foot from my mouth.

Alrighty then.

OCG: This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Summoned during your first turn. This card can only be Special Summoned by sending the top 3 cards of your Deck to the Graveyard. I would say that this card would be extremely OP'ed. Just by sending the top three cards of your deck to the Graveyard to summon a monster that has an ATK of 3150.

I would try to make the summoning conditions more tough.

If you have a machine deck, then all the monsters you would have would be unaffected by trap cards.

The last two sentences are fine effect and OCG wise.

Pic is ok.

6.9/10

Sorry if I am harsh.

Actually, I'm glad you are. Don't worry about it, rip this card apart for all I mind. Like I said, it's an experiment, and you don't get better through constant success.

I'm using this and several other cards that I will make to push my boundaries and hopefully improve myself each time. By the end of it I should be a better cardmaker. My biggest problem so far seems to be OCG, it is my weakness. My other main weakness is making a meta worthy card.

My weakness was always coming up with a good effect. I haven't made a single card in a year and I am going to post it very soon.

When you do, post me a link to it and I'll comment on it. Call it payback for this rate/my earlier post.

It's a 3150 ATK beatstick that Special Summons itself for free and provides some free mill any time after the first turn, comes with a plethora of positive effects (including making itself Trap-immune), and has no drawback. How could you have deluded yourself into believing that this was even remotely balanced? And why are YCM's raters so stupid that they don't see how broken this is?

Who says I deluded myself? I thought it was broken. However, I'm testing the boundaries, as it were. I'll fix it in a little while though. Until then.

You don't get credit for making something laughably overpowered and then acting like it was an intellectual endeavor. You weren't "testing the boundaries"; you were making something that was far beyond the boundaries from the first line and then made it stronger. If this is an experiment, then all the seven-year-olds who post 9999 ATK god cards are scientific geniuses.
