omega prinny
thats pretty good. you could use a few more tuners... maybe you should make a card like utopia ressurection to revive a tuner monster in your graveyard as a tuning material along with a monster on the field. those pictures were used in duelmasters right? Anbu-of-Sand
Utopia Defenders Archetype Review At first glance, I was intrigued by your Topic Description, seeing that by the looks of it, this Archetype can burn, swarm, and deal out some One Turn Kills quite effectively. BUT, you forgot one more thing. After reading a few of the cards, I noticed that almost all the Effect Monsters / Tuner Monsters gave you draw power. And by draw power, I mean DRAW POWER. Almost every single one of them gets you to draw 2 cards as soon as there Summoned. However, most of them all share a similar drawback, making you discard any drawn Spell Cards. Now even though this may suck, especially in this format, (I mean, imagine drawing Monster Reborn and Dark Hole). But, I guess this is one of the many things that make them balanced, even though this can make them splashable in other Decks. Well, Deck. That Magical Explosion FTK came to mind when reading this, seeing it can effectively dump those Spells in the Graveyard. It also seems some of them have a bit of DARK hate in them. It's like the opposite of that, what was the name, Ally of Justices? Now even those this immense draw power may be unrelated to their 'main effects', although this also may make the Archetype seem overpowering, it may just help balance it out. Because when you look at the Synchro Monsters, they all rely on the opposite of those Effect / Tuner Monsters, discarding cards. Well, not all of them, but I guess you can say majority of them. This is where all those good cards you may have drawn, can go straight to the Graveyard, really hurting you. It's a shame I can't read the Fusion Monster, you should post some lores as well. Also, don't forget with all the draw power, you just might even lose through Deck-out, which concerns me, because by the looks of the Archetype, they can Deck out much faster then even Lightsworns, making you have to act quick with this Archetype if you want to win. I'm also seeing in some places ATK and DEF manipulation here and their, and like you also said, decent swarming, but minimal burning in my opinion, and also minimal Life Point gain, so Life Point manipulation as a whole. Kinda like Psychic-Type monsters if you think about it, except this Archetype kinda does that to both players, instead of just the user using the Archetype. Also, looking further into the Archetype (I'm giving this review while looking through the cards at the same time), those 'drawbacks' can be also used as well, the opposite of drawbacks. I say this because now I'm seeing a few monsters that also get their effects through the manipulation from Spell Cards. Whether it's discarding them, when they're discarded, or while in the Graveyard. I even see the Archetype has their own Synchro version of Magical Explosion, but with a small 100 burn difference. Also when looking further into the Archetype, some of these cards are quite overpowering. Whether is that the drawbacks aren't enough, or there aren't any drawbacks at all. A good example is that Utopia Defender Mystique Lapin. So I suggest looking in on a few of the card's that you think although, sometimes simple, are quite overpowering. And what, now I'm seeing the Archetype revolving around LIGHT monsters as well? HOW FLEXIBLE IS THIS ARCHETYPE!?!?! It's almost as flexible, and maybe is as flexible, as my Mysterious Magicians Archetype! Now, after skimming through the tens and tens of cards, I finally find, the Field Spell. I didn't even know the Archetype had the Field Spell, until now that is. And I must say, it is quite overpowering. Why? Well with all the monsters that dump Spell Cards in the Graveyard just like that, the 300 ATK and DEF boost per Spell can easily stack up, making the lowest stat monsters into decent beaters. So I say reduce the 300 stat boost per Spell to a 100, and maybe at further precautions, even 50. Also, seeing as this Archetype can burn as much as hell does, I think it would be best that the 500 cost to negate an effect should be maybe 1000, just to make the 'burn' fair amongst the players, if it wouldn't be enough that is. Now, after seeing how the Archetype is like I had stated in the beginning of this paragraph, quite flexible when it comes to different Deck strategies, it's quite hard to tell if the Archetype as a whole is overpowering and hit by the ban list. Now before I state my verdict, I also must add the OCG for all the cards is spot on. Now, back to the verdict (I sound like some judge, lol). Some cards in the Archetype, I'll give a rough estimate of maybe, 20% of the cards would get hit? So I'd suggest some minor tweaking on the cards here and there, but at the end, the Archetype as a whole although seemingly fun, are really aggressive, and in some cases overpowering, leading to a final rate of 8/
Ayasato-chan
If I were completely honest, I actually know which of these might be hit with a ban. I think the most broken card in my entire set is probably Magie. She has the ability for a perpetual 4 card draw per turn. Imagine if you ran this deck with Exodia? Saturn of Elemia
Oh wow, this is a nice set. Interesting on having Spells going to the Graveyard. As always, OCG is flawless. 10/10 from me
Ayasato-chan
Since I was asked, here's the lore for Cheval Arc'en-ciel: "Utopia Defender Arc'en-ciel" + "Utopia Defender Maître et Cheval" A Fusion Summon of this card can only be conducted with the above Fusion Material monsters. This card can only be Fusion Summoned from your Fusion Deck by removing the above listed monsters face-up on the field from play. When this card is successfully Fusion Summoned, draw 5 cards. For each Spell Card drawn by this effect, inflict 800 points of damage to your opponent's Life Points. Whenever a "Utopia Defender" monster is Special Summoned, inflict 300 points of damage to your opponent's Life Points.
