.Hendrix
A concept which has never really been explored into in the whole concept of Bleach is how the Soul Reapers get to be in the Seireitei and why, what are their thought processes as they go through these things and I just thought I'd explore into that and make a Fan Fic based off of it.
H O P E The wind coiled and intertwined through the countless Soul Reapers that hurried about the Seireitei that day. Maybe I should explain; we Soul Reapers are those whom have departed from the earth and into the heavens, we have learnt to wield our spirit powers or to put it in a simpler term ‘gained supernatural abilities’ and as Soul Reapers we have duties. Some of our main duties are to keep the heavens in order and another is to perform ‘Konso’ which is effectively a spirit funeral. My name is Leonardo, as far as I can remember I was always able to see ghosts, right from when I was a young kid, it was hard to tell spirits from humans at first, it always is according to several Soul Reapers. So, you thought you had it bad? With your parents who wouldn’t let you go out in those clothes or because you got dumped the other day, me? I was questioning my sanity at every waking moment. Even though I couldn’t make up my mind whether it was all in my head or if I was actually seeing spirits I still felt for these, these ‘beings’. It’s kind of ironic; in fact, it’s more or less how I wound up in the heavens myself. Let me explain; after I could tell the difference between ghosts and humans I would often find myself feeling an outcast, questioning myself; “why me?”, “Am I the only one”, “Is there something wrong with me?”. As the days grew shorter I would find myself in the local cemetery more and more trying to answer these questions. It was at night actually, these punks got drunken, now; back in my day black folk’ weren’t allowed to even speak out, but I couldn’t take it, these hooligans were defying a young girls grave, kicking, spitting, all sorts. So I walked up to the male who appeared to be ‘the alpha’ I said “excuse me, would you mind stopping what you’re doing?” “Hmm?” he replied “Stop and leave now” “watch your mouth nigger” at this point I punched him straight in the jaw; I wasn’t going to stand for that s***. Before I knew it I felt something piercing my stomach, I looked down and there it was, a kitchen knife I fell to my knees, everything went black but I could still feel the pain, I could feel the blood, I could feel myself slowly drifting away. _______________________________________________________________ Before too long I was in the Soul Society, I was greeted by a family of four; a father, a mother, a daughter and a son, they eased my pains. I didn’t remember too much of what had happened… In fact; according to them, I wasn’t supposed to remember any of it. But they made me feel better, and through time I slowly felt as my old self again, how I remembered feeling as a young child, back when I wasn’t questioning my sanity. Before long I discovered how to wield my spirit powers, at first it was just in an un-easy ball like form, floating blue in the palm of my hand, slowly but surely I learnt how to wield my spirit energy all around me, moulding to my body shape exactly. My newfound parents strongly recommended to me that I should start up in the Soul Reaper academy on my 21st birthday, of course, I hadn’t aged a day. As according to them it is “the highest position a spirit can get” it was something quite different, enlisting in the academy, everyone in the district I lived in; the Kubo district, waved me off and wished me luck at the academy, it was probably the first time I had ever been given a proper farewell. Roughly a year later I passed my final exam, it was in record time, most Soul Reapers take years to pass, I was “exceptionally gifted” therefore I got pushed up a year. I struggled, I will admit that, the constant teasing of other Soul Reapers and such got to me, it was difficult being the youngest by a year, I slowly but surely began to feel how I did back on earth. It all became okay though, the day I passed my entrance exams. A tall, powerful old man approached me on my graduation day; he went by the name of “Yamamoto”, I remember the room well and I remember what he said well. The room was entirely wooden, the odd picture of the typical ‘green fields and red sun’ landscape rested on the wall. A roaring fire rested under the burnished fireplace, although punished the mantle was of a handsome marble structure. Yamamoto came in close to me and told me; “Leonardo, congratulations on passing your entrance exam, you are now an official Soul Reaper, but not only did you pass having being pushed up a year, you passed at the top of your class by far… This is extremely interesting, I and the other thirteen court guard captains have taken a liking to you and effective immediately you shall join my division, the first.” I was left speechless, I had been offered straight off the bat what many would have to work towards, my bottom lip quivered all I could do was put out my hand, and shaking it the Captain Commander Yamamoto left the room. PikMan
I don't watch Bleach, but this seems like a promising little story. The idea's pretty good, and the character seems compelling enough.
.Hendrix
Cheers bro', for being the first to actually give his/her opinion and be the first to do so after 20+ views; you get a +1.
Umbra
It's definitely different from the average fanfic you'd read, and it looks very promising. At first I thought that Leonardo was just another Ichigo-clone, but you definitely established him as a different character as it progressed. His strength seems a bit informed, though; we never actually see any of that reiryoku that got him put in the first division in action. Then again, this is only the start; you'll probably show us that in the future. Overall, it was a good read, and I look forward to reading the rest.
