SSXBook 1/Chapter 1 Broken Limit pt. 1 “So after four years, all that you and I have been through, you’re really going to do it?” Brandon(1) (LP- 1300) asked. His opponent (4) (LP- 3700) said nothing; he simply pushed a button on his duel disk and pointed his finger at Brandon. The shadow covered monster standing behind him lunged at Brandon striking at him. His eyes squinted as the creature plowed toward him. “Even when it’s this important, as far as I’ve come, me and my deck are worthless.” Brandon thought back to where it all started. It was 4 years ago in Sapphire City and one day after Brandon’s 15th birthday. He got the two things he wanted most, his first duel disk and more importantly, his first deck. Up until this point the only card he owned had been a Harpie’s Brother that he found on the floor of Nebulas, the local card shop. When he asked who it belonged to the other kids told him that it was a worthless card and he could just keep it. He jumped out of bed as his alarm sounded and raced for his clothes that he had set out the night before. His favorite pair of baggy blue jeans with a torn right knee looked oversized on his 180 lb, 5’ 9’’ body. His solid black shirt was tucked into his jeans with an unbuttoned dark blue short sleeve nylon over shirt worn outside of his pants. His white sneakers that he cleaned every night had red lightning bolts on them with red shoe laces. Brandon slipped his duel disk on his left wrist and shot out the front door of his house forgetting to even eat breakfast. The sun beamed on him darkening his already dark brown skin. He jumped on his moped and cruised over to his first tournament. “So this is it, my first tournament. What if I’m not good enough? No way I’m ready for this!” Brandon said jumping off his moped and walking tall into Nebulas and its 25 duel grounds. “And with that your life points go down to zero.” Brandon’s opponent boasted. “I don’t get it, what did I do wrong?” Brandon tried to reason with himself. “Well, when you use pathetic vanilla cards like Harpie’s Brother you just can’t expect to make it that far.” His opponent explained. Although he was out of the tournament Brandon stayed until the end and saw a match unlike any he ever had. Ike was a 20 year old veteran that only went to local tournaments to teach the younger kids. They all loved him and his goatee, all but one, his opponent. Allen was 10 and a prodigy of the game. He had no one deck that he played, he only believed in power and in unstoppable combos. Ike on the other hand played his favorite and most reliable deck. “Why don’t you just scoop now and be done with it Ike.” Allen said “If I didn’t know any better I’d say I had you worried. Let’s get started.” Ike responded as he drew his card (6)(LP-4000). “Two face downs and I summon Gladiator Beast Laquari (1800/400).” “Coming out strong but still…a Gladiator Beast deck? I’ve looked it up online and I can tell you, your deck is lame. I play the spell card Cold Wave freezing all spell and trap card play until my next turn.” Allen (5)(LP-4000)said as two ice blocks engulfed Ike’s face downs. “Cold Wave! Where did you get a hold of a card that powerful?” Ike (3) (LP-4000) asked not knowing how he was going to protect his beast from Allen’s coming assault. “By winning, the more I win the more cards I get. But that’s not even the least of your worries. I summon Lonefire Blossom (500/1400). But don’t blink or you’ll miss him cuz I’m tributing him off to summon his distant relative from my deck. Now rise Tytannial, Princess of Camellias (2800/2600). Blooming Destruction!” Allen commanded his monster. Tytannial’s roots burrowed out of the ground and coiled around Laquari squeezing him until he shattered into several pieces. Ike (3) (LP-3000) grunted as his monster was destroyed. “Okay, with my spell and trap cards on lock down I can’t play my dark hole, but…Alright Allen I draw!” Ike (4) (3000) eagerly drew his card. “Now I summon Gladiator Beast Equeste(1600/1200) but he’s feeling a little lonely so now I’ll special summon Test Tiger (600/300) and just as fast as you tributed Lonefire, I’m tributing him returning Equeste to my deck and then I special summon Gladiator Beast Murmillo(800/400) so say goodbye to your weed!” Ike (2) (LP-3000) pointed his figure at Allen’s monster. “Great so whether I use her ability or not she’s dead. Whatever if she’s going down she’s taking your monster with her.” Allen (4)(4000) tributed his monster to activate her effect canceling out Murmillo’s and destroying it. “Looks like we’re both monsterless now, I can’t do much else so you’re up.” Ike said as he tried to figure out his next move. Allen had been waiting to duel Ike for a while, not because he considered him a challenge, but because of how much everyone loved him. But when it came to him the best player there, no one really liked him. “The way I see it Ike, I’m a thousand times better than you, so why don’t these kids like me?” Allen (5) (LP-4000) drew his card. “I just don’t get it!” he glared at Ike consumed by his own jealousy and self doubt. It was at about this point that Brandon noticed it. A dark cloud-like shadow hovering over Allen rubbing his shoulders. “What, doesn’t anybody else see that thing?” he thought to himself. Tapping a kid on the shoulder next to him “Hey what’s that thing above Allen.” He frantically asked. “Uh…Well most of us learned this in pre-k but that thing is called a light.” The duelist answered in a condescending tone. Brandon didn’t care too much and just stared at the shadow. Then as sniffing him like a bloodthirsty bulldog the shadow’s gaze turned to Brandon and slowly moved toward him. It took him a moment to register it “Does that thing…does that thing see me!?” he forced his way through people trying to get to Nebulas main doors. “Now I discard my Dandylion (300/300) in order to special summon Quickdraw Synchron (700/1400) from my hand,”Allen(3) (4000) threw the monster on his duel disk and then pulled two fluff tokens out of his inner coat pocket and laid them on the disk as well. “Now get ready for one of my strongest monsters…” “Not so fast, there’s no way I letting you pull off a synchro summon right now, I activate my face down spell card, Book of Moon!” Ike shouted holding up his right hand to trigger his card. Quickdraw Synchron holstered his gun and faded into a facedown monster card. Allen(2) (4000) sneered and set a face down. “It’s your move.” “Thanks, I draw.” Ike (3)(3000) looked at his hand. “Wonder what his face down is, could it be Mirror Force or maybe it’s just a bluff card?” Ike looked back at his hand and pondered his next move. “Either way I can’t just let him keep his Quickdraw on the field but using this card now seems like such a waste.” Ike’s frustration grew. Brandon was missing one of the best duels he’d ever seen and really could not have cared less. The store owner grabbed him by the arm pointing at a sign on the wall. “No running!” he sternly told Brandon. Brandon pulled away “I’m sorry sir but this is a little more important than your stupid sign.” He forced the door open and to his dismay it was dark out. Had he not been scared out of his mind he would have given this more thought as it was only 3:30 P.M. The shadow grew in size as passed through the door of the game shop. Brandon just kept running and would not have stopped if he had not run into a man knocking him on his butt. The shadow had caught up to Brandon; however, it only stared at him. “So you can see that thing huh kid.” The man’s voice was muffled by his scarf. The black trenchcoat duster and fedora hat he was wearing made him look like a cowboy. “What do you want man!” Brandon said as he looked back and forth between the two. “You got that backwards kid, it’s really more of what do you want from me.” He replied as he pulled out a Morphing Jar (700/600) card. The card seemed to come to life as it jumped off the picture with its mouth wide open ready to devour Brandon! -End Ch 1- Because I have not yet used any self created cards I will leave this section blank for the time being. Hope you enjoyed reading and I would not mind feedback, both positive and negative.

Yu-Gi-Oh! SSXBook 1/Chapter 2Broken Limit pt. 2 Small beads of sweat formed underneath the superman embroiled hat and trailed down Ike’s face wetting the short golden brown hairs of his goatee. “Alright Allen, you’re not going to psyche me out with a face down, instead I think I’ll just get rid of it.” Ike (3)(3000) smirked as his eyes stayed focused on Allen’s face down card. “Well if you got it, you got it.” Allen shrugged his shoulders. “Okay then Allen, I’ll start with this. I summon Gladiator Beast Darius (1700/300) and then I special summon Test Tiger #2 and I tribute him to return Darius to my deck and in his place I summon Gladiator Beast Bestiari (1500/800)and using his ability I destroy your face down, now go Razor Gust.”Ike(1)(LP-3000) pointed at Allen’s face down. Allen’s card was engulfed in a tornado and lifted into the air “Trap card activate, Call of the Haunted!” he shouted. Ike was puzzled, “Call of the Haunted, why use that card? The only thing in his graveyard is…. Dandylion!” Ike looked upon Allen’s full field of monsters as two more fluff tokens appeared. “Ok, well it’s still a simple move. Alright Bestiari, take out his facedown monster!” Bestiari shot a green spear from his gauntlet shattering Quickdraw Synchron into several pieces. Ike picked up his Bestiari and shuffled it back into his deck and in his place a pumped up Gladiator Beast Hoplomus (700/2100—2400) in defense position. “I’ve had enough of this and your pathetic deck, Draw!” Allen (3)(LP-4000) shouted as he whipped his arm drawing a card from his deck. Ike could see the fire rage in Allen’s light brown eyes. He pushed his glasses up; taking notice of this Ike did the same. “I summon fourth my tuner monster, Debris Dragon, and tune him with three of my level 1 fluff tokens.” Allen(2)(4000) raised his right hand as Ike braced himself. “Rise from the earth and bring despair to those who oppose your rage, synchro summon Black Rose Dragon!” Allen’s dragon appeared and stared relentlessly at Ike as if it were peering into his soul. “Blow it up, blow it all up!” “Sorry buddy, but I have another face down. Go Gladiator Beast War Chariot, with this I can negate your dragon’s ability and send it on a one way trip to the graveyard.” Ike grinned as the dragon exploded into flames. Elsewhere Brandon opened his eyes and looked around. It was dark and cold enough for him to see his breath. As he stood up light seemed to illuminate from his immediate area, just enough for him to see a few feet in front of him. “Hello…hello, what’s going on?” He yelled. “Brandon, you stand there confused about where you are, is it not obvious?” the scarfed man riddled Brandon. Brandon could see him now standing above him on a rock black as charcoal. “Who are you, what do you want?” He asked “I already told you kid, you got that all backwards. The real question is what do you want?” the man retorted as he ran his fingers through his long black beard. “Furthermore, how can you not know where you are when you spend the majority of your time here?” “The majority of my time, I don’t understand.” Brandon said as he noticed those sharp red glowing eyes that belonged to the shadow chasing him. He took a step back. “Haven’t you retreated for long enough? It’s time to fight, to make a decision about who you are and what you believe in.” The man urged him “Will you just be straight with me; you’re making no sense man!” Brandon yelled as the red eyes moved closer to him. “It’s simple, what it comes down to is what kind of duelist are you. The Shadow seeks to grant you power and victory and make you desire it and to claim greatness; however, it comes with a cost.” Taking his long black hair and banding it together. “A cost…for victory.” Brandon stood wide eyed as the shadow gently placed its claws on his shoulders. “If all you seek is victory then you become ignorant of the path. But is that truly what your heart desires or does it seek a different course?” As the man spoke a sinister laugh could be heard. “A different path that leads to victory but doesn’t seek it as the purpose of dueling…I…choose…that path!” Brandon yelled and light spread from his feet forcing the shadow away. Brandon could see the shadow once again. It began to grow and moved closer to him. “Brandon you’ve made your choice, now call out your spirit partner and defeat this darkness within your own heart!” The scarfed man commanded. “My spirit partner, does he mean…” The claws of the shadow grew closer to Brandon ready to plunge into his heart. “Morphing Jar!” As Brandon yelled a ghostly black blob with one bloodshot looking eye cocooned around him making itself a shield and deflecting the shadow’s claw. It unwound itself and positioned itself in its Jar next to Brandon, they both smiled. The light grew larger and brighter disintegrating the shadow. “I was wondering how long it was going to take you to activate your War Chariot.” Allen stated as he smiled with vigor. “Waiting…you mean you knew I had it down?” Ike questioned his opponent “Of course I did, just like I know you have a dark hole in your hand. It’s a gift I’ve had for a while now, the ability to flawlessly read my opponent’s cards and figure out the best way to beat them with that knowledge.” Allen explained Ike’s eyes contracted rapidly, “How does he know I’m holding dark hole, is he psychic or cheating?” “Now I set one card and play Monster Reborn on Black Rose Dragon!” Allen (0)(4000) brought his fallen monster back to life. “Why, you can’t blow up the field?” Ike asked “You wish you were that lucky. No Ike, I’m utilizing my dragon’s other ability. By removing Dandylion in my graveyard from play I switch your Hoplomus into attack mode and attack.” Allen pointed at Ike. Ike’s monster switched from defense mode without his master’s order and his attack points dropped to zero as the dragon blasted him. Ike(1)(LP-600) yelled as he and his monster were engulfed in the blast. “Well, if you’re quite done draw!” Ike (2)(LP-600) “Wabaku, I was hoping for a monster but this will have to do, I activate Dark Hole.” Ike returned Allen’s monster to its former resting place. He then set his final card and ended his turn. “Draw!” Allen(1)(4000) drew and smiled, “I summon Sangan(1000/600) and I’ll have him wipe out the rest of your life points.” “Not while I have this, now protect me Wabaku!” Ike activated his card determined not to fail, but his card seemed to remain motionless. “That’s it, that’s your limit?” Allen asked activating his face down trap card. “Sorry but you just have to except this as happening, I negate your useless trap with my superior Solemn Judgement!” A lightning bolt struck Ike’s trap obliterating it. Ike’s life points dropped to zero. “Well it looks like you got me this time Allen.” He said lifting his head “That’s right, this time and every time, because the way I see it if you don’t duel like me then you’re a bad duelist, and nobody at this pathetic card shop duels like me!” Allen was cold and to the point. Brandon stood in the alley next to Nebulas unaware of what was happening inside. In his hand was the Morphing Jar card. “You and me, we’re gonna change the world of dueling.” He said as the full moon slowly disappeared by moving clouds. -End Ch 2- Because no self created cardswere used I will leave this section blank for the time being.
