"Religion and science usually goes hand in hand"? Did you even care to read my previous objection?

Yes and that in no way discloses my statement. That is in a general view, almost every great scientist has been in a form of religion. This will officially be my last post on this subject. During this entire topic you have done nothing but ask me to prove my point rather than contribute and prove your own reason why.

@Dark. I looked up that study, it's null-void because the study was not properly conducted. It's as credible as anything Jack Thompson made claiming video games cause violence.

Atheist aren't bad people

Agnostics aren't bad people

Christians aren't bad people

Anglican's aren't bad people

etc...

It's elitist that's the problem and every religion, race, and people in general have. People will find something to be elitist about. The atheists I'm talking about are people like ADHD-Guitar. No offense but seriously? Do you honestly believe this?

No' date=' because you see atheists are the smartest people in the world, having figured out basic logic, they have evolved past religious people and become superior in every way. That is why they are allowed to say whatever they want, because they are always right, and everyone else has to think the same way, because it's all based on factual evidence that they are too intelligent to have to present. [/quote']

Atheists are better than everyone and have evolved beyond you primitive people and we are always right and we don't have to deal with you. So unless you convert and realize how great Atheists and stop believing in your primitive religion we don't have to deal with you because we have proof!(proof being opinion).

The whole point I'm trying to make is atheists are not this holy people that are perfect in every way. They're not all monsters quite the opposite, Icy is a good example in this thread. At the same time not all Christians are these people that try to convert everyone and are complete douches and idiots. You most likely think this because most religious people you've met are people that visit you at your door(who are annoying beyond everything.) However not all religious people do this, in fact a majority don't do this.

Also to leave no question unturned, "Religion goes hand and hand with science." 'Religious people don't believe in science' is a fake notion, most religious people believe that God created the strings and the big bang and find God's plan even more amazing the more they learn and wish to learn to discover more and more. The more they discover the more they believe in God.

- From a slightly annoyed Agnostic; filing for this thread to be closed.

EDIT: Hey look at that, waste of a 100 post lol.

In the future, let's keep religious discussions in Debates, okay? It's not really a rule I'm trying to force, but discussing this topic in General usually attracts a lot of... less educated people, and it's always a tense argument.

If you people can keep this civil (which it has been for the most part), I'll leave it open, but in the future try starting this sort of threads in Debates please. ;)

On average cannot be stressed enough. Yet for some reason, from what I'm seeing is that the smarter people tend to be religious in some way.

Cool, so one super-smart guy is a Roman Catholic. I have religious friends that are smart, so I don't understand your logic. On average, with respects to the study, states that as you find people who are less and less religious, they tend to get more and more intelligent. That is not saying the most religious person is the dumbest, nor is the least religious person the smartest, but the trend goes that religion and intelligence are inversely related. This Georges guy doesn't screw over that trend, because I never said the trend applied to each and every individual, just society as a whole.

Bit ironic how some religious guy made the Big Bang theory. I'm sure Roman Catholics will shut up now and stop supporting the "god maed uz" theory. ...whoops, I was wrong again.

yes scientists were atheist or agnostic even famous ones like Steven Hawking, but religion and science usually goes hand in hand. It's the reason there's so many religious scientists.

Religion is based on faith.

Science is based on facts and intelligent design guessing.

I'm not saying religious scientists don't exist, I'm saying that if one is super-religious (like, Pope-styled batshit crazy religious), chances are (and very high) that one would not be very intelligent with respects to science, and one would not make a good scientist.

The religious use bad morality, ethics and philosophy along with coincidence and weak circumstantial evidence to argue for their point. They are wrong.

Your logic is flawed; Belief is a perspective, therefor it is neither wrong nor right. Perspective cannot be flawed.

@endphase dude all you are doing is fueling anti-christian views. They are not hating on christians that dont accept people who dont believe... Their hating on the belief in general because they feel that it is just plain stupid to believe in it...

I dont feel this way though...

You can say you accept people who dont believe all you want odds and ends are they dont care...

Wow, you people just love to hate, don't you? I swear, one day doesn't go by when a meaningless little discussion turns into a hardly-philosophical discussion on whom is superior to whom. You people are incredibly disgusting and I'm glad I can say I know no one like you. Does it take much for anyone to be able accept someone else as another human being on their social level instead of a peon for having or not having religious beliefs. I cannot stress enough how immature you people are being about everything. Logic, which is what this topic was thinly veiled to portray, is not about whether or not you are religious or not, because, believe it or not, it does not matter whether you are religious or not. I myself am a devout practitioner of the United Methodist faith but I have friends who are and did a brief span of my life in atheism. It didn't make me smart or anything, because I didn't believe in God or any certain god, nor did it make me stupid when I went back.

tl;dr version: You are all immature pricks. Good day.

Shall I stay OT to the origin of this thread:

*ahem* I know someone who was telling me something trying as hard as he could to prove me wrong, based on his and his friend's opinion. Here is not the fail because we do this generally for fun debates. However, he got his friends and my name mixed up. I pointed this out, he then said he didn't and my ears were tricking me. I then got my friend who was with me to back me up. Names were mixed up. First friend insisted he didn't get them mixed up even with witnesses.

And now off topic because I can;

I never knew a Roman Catholic priest pretty much came up with the Big Bang theory. And because he did, it is supporting my idea of, "God exists, however most stories are fantasy or exagerated." Just wanted to say.

Please continue with your endless, pointless, cloned debate on Religion vs Atheism and proving that both are bad despite defending their goodness. Get a brain and understand that acting like know it all idiots proves the others point.

No one has ever even mentioned in this thread that any beliefs were stu-

Scratch that.

No one with an IQ over fifty ever mentioned in this thread that any beliefs were stupid, and no one with an IQ of over sixty will ever attempt that.

Christian beliefs aren't stupid; in fact, they are about as smart as Islamic and Jewish beliefs.

My point, even though the topic was not originally about this, is that if you want to be religious, do it under your own privacy. The second you come knocking on my door asking me to join a religion, or the second you bomb someone else's mosque/church/jewishtemplething/hindutemplething because of their beliefs, or the second you attack atheism (and by attack I do not mean verbally or intellectually, I mean physically and violently), you are giving your entire religion a bad name. The second a Christian person comes to me and tries to force me to convert, I'm going to assume that most Christians are a bunch of retards who are hell-bent on converting everyone in the world even though we are apparently all going to hell and there isn't enough space in heaven so it doesn't matter if we convert BECAUSE WE ARE GOING TO KISS SATAN'S SLIMY C***.

So if you don't want your religion to be bashed, keep your beliefs to yourself.

It's hilarious how some Christians assume all atheists are forceful against other beliefs and hate Christians, while some atheists assume all Christians are forceful against other beliefs and hate atheists. Others assume anyone who posts in religion threads is immature. In addition, almost all people in this thread belong in one of these.

This topic is going nowhere.

I take a neutral stand point on the first two.
