Squidward Tentacles
It was March 3rd, unusually cold, in Domino City.

I, Shizen Yuki, son of the legendary Jaden Yuki, was waiting in the waiting room of Kaibacorp with my lifelong best friend, Yeren Truesdale, and I started to doze off.

“Shizen! Shizen!” I could hear Yeren saying. I could easily recognize his squeaky voice. “Shizen, wake up! It’s your turn to duel!”

“Huh?!” I yelled, waking up and nearly making Yeren fall out of his chair.

“Yeah! They just called your name! You’re going up against the toughest proctor they have!”

I gasped. “Who?!” “Marin Yamanaka, former world champion, but was defeated by your dad.”

“Oh, heck no!” I muttered. “That means he’s got a bone to pick with you, probably!”

Shaking, I stepped out on the duel field.

The proctor stood there, not with an angry expression, but more with a calm expression.

“Hello,” He said. “I am Marin Yamanaka. Your proctor.”

“I am…”

“I know who you are. Shizen Yuki.”

“I remember my father once told me about you.”

“Shall we get this started?”

“Duel!” we yelled as our Life Point counter went up to 4000.

“Testers first,” He said.

“Why thank you. Draw!” I said, drawing a card from my deck. “I activate my spell card, Lunar Angel’s Ascent! Now, I can search my deck for any monster with Lunar Angel in its name! And I choose…”

I looked over all my cards.

“Lunar Angel Makari (2100/1300)! But now, I have to remove from play 2 LIGHT monsters,” I grinned. “But it’s worth it.”

“H-How?!” Marin cried.

Once again, I grinned. “Because… Lunar Angel Makari gains 300 ATK and DEF for each LIGHT monster removed from play!” A woman with long, shimmering blonde hair slowly rose out of the ground. She had wings and carried a staff in the shape of a crescent (2700/1900), and at the sight of her, Marin gasped.

“Lunar Angel Makari…” He murmured.

“But I’m not done there!” I yelled. “I can still Normal Summon!” I grinned. “I summon Lunar – Tsuki, Knight of Crescents!” A woman in a battle-scarred scarlet cloak carrying numerous swords with a crescent-shaped insignia on her cloak appeared, (1100/1550). “End turn.”

“Draw!” Marin said, drawing a card from his deck. “I summon Cyber Hound LV 1, (0/0), in Defense Position!”

A mechanical dog jumped onto the battlefield.

“My dad warned me about that…” I murmured.

“Cyber Hound, attack Tsuki!” He yelled.

The hound charged, but Tsuki slashed it to pieces.

“Heh…” He murmured. “You’ve activated Hound’s effect! First, I don’t take battle damage, and second, I get to bring out Cyber Hound LV3 (1100/1100) in Attack Position!”

A larger hound appeared. “I’ll set 1 card face down, and end my turn!”

I drew a card. “Heh… I’ll start by placing 1 card face down. Next, I activate Scattering of Light! Now I can remove from play three Light Attribute monsters from my Hand or Deck!” (3600/2800) “Makari, destroy Hound LV 3!” I yelled.

She surged forward and prepared to strike the hound with her staff.

“Not so fast!” Marin yelled. “Magic Cylinder.”

I gasped. (Me: 400/Marin: 4000) “No!”

I was suddenly losing by 3600 points. To Be continued…

Episode 2 Down With the Dogs - Part 2

Marin smiled. “Well, I must say,” He said. “For the son of legendary Jaden Yuki, I’m not impressed.”

“Ugh...” I murmured to myself. “I should’ve known better than that.”

“At this rate, he won’t last another turn,” said my dad, who was sitting in the sidelines. He suddenly stood up and said, “You can do it, Shizen! Don’t give up!”

I turned to him and nodded. “I won’t go down that easy! You’ve just helped me out! In fact, I do my best when I’m on the losing end!” I yelled.

“We’ll see about that!” Marin growled. “I’ll finish off by throwing down a face-down! End turn!” I said.

“Draw!” He said. He smiled. “This is the card I’ve been waiting for...”

“Oh, no...” I gasped.

“I activate Level Up! I sacrifice Cyber Hound LV 3, and now I can Special Summon Cyber Hound LV 6 (2500/2500) in Attack Position!” He yelled.

I grinned. “Is that all?! It doesn’t have enough ATK to beat Makari!” I said.

He chuckled. “I’m not done there...” He grinned. “I still have his effect.”

I already knew what it was.

“As long as there are no other monsters on my side of the field, I can attack directly!” He said.

I was ready for it.

“Hound, attack directly!” He yelled.

The hound surged forward.

“Not so fast!” I shouted. “I activate my Trap Card, Mirror Force!”

At that instant, the Hound was disintegrated, leaving Marin right open.

His grinning face suddenly turned grave.

“Heh... that’s my boy!” My dad said.

“I’ll place a face-down and end my turn.” Marin muttered.

“Draw!” I said, drawing a card from my deck. I smiled. It was the card I treasured most, a card given to me by my girlfriend: Orion, the Battle King. “I activate Cost Down! I discard 1 card, but now I can summon my Orion the Battle King (1800/1500), in Attack Mode!”

A purple fairy appeared.

“Orion, attack directly!” I yelled. It surged forward and attacked.

(Me: 400/Marin: 2200)

“Makari,” I said. “Finish it!”

Makari surged forward and struck Marin with her staff.

(Me: 400/Marin: 0)

Marin fell to his knees. “I’ve b-been beaten... by a Yuki...” He muttered. “Again...”

As he said that, my dad rose up and said, “Don’t be a sore loser, Marin!”

Marin looked at him. He looked back at me, and smiled. “Excellent work, Shizen.”

He turned behind him, to a table, and grabbed a blue jacket.

He turned back to me, and, handing me the jacket, smiled and said, “Congratulations. You are in Obelisk Blue.”

I was overcome with joy. “O-Obelisk Blue?! Really?”

“Yes. You are one of the best duelists whoever came into this ring. Even better than your father.” Marin said.

“Hey! I heard that!” My dad said.

We all laughed while everyone else applauded.

“Your friend Yeren is going to be in Obelisk Blue, too.” Marin said.

I put on the jacket, and smiled.
