You sir, are an idiot. Alcohol and Tobacco are on a whole different level than Marijuana. Both Tobacco and Alcohol are highly addictive, cause cancer, kill hundreds of thousands of people every year and you can overdose on alcohol very easily. Marijuana, however is not addictive in the slightest, has never killed anyone in it's 5000 years of existence and you would have to smoke 15000 joints in 15 minutes to OD on it, which is irrelevant anyway, since you can OD on water.

I don't drink or smoke cigarettes, but I smoke marijuana at least three times a week. I don't do it because I have a "habit" or to "escape into a fantasy world" as you said, but purely as a stimulant for creativity and fun. The fact that you and so many other people don't understand that marijuana is more a medicine than anything, is disturbing. You are frankly pathetic. ;)
I'd agree, aside the fact that it screws your mentality.

If you smoke it at least 3 times a week, wouldn't that be considered a habit?
It's true marijuana has medicinal purposes, but using it for anything besides that is abuse.
Which is illegal.
So you're breaking the law by smoking weed.
Don't call someone pathetic because they're abiding the law >__>

You have a point, I obviously do have a marijuana 'habit', but I have absolutely no difficulty not smoking it for a period of time. I can stop for two months and not feel the urge to do it at all. I am breaking the law by smoking weed, yes, but that's not what we're talking about is it? I wasn't calling him pathetic for abiding the law, I called him pathetic because he was being extremely ignorant and pretentious.

I'm patronizing? Really. Really? This is coming from you.

Erm, no they don't, in most cases. I can't be bothered to look up what's legal and what isn't right now, more important stuff to do, but drugs are stupid. Tobacco is a drug, one and the same thing. Alcohol in excessive levels is the same.

If you feel you need to take something to make you feel more alive or happy, to lose all self control and to escape into your own little fantasy world, with no regard for your mind or body, or what you need to do to fund your habit, then you are frankly pathetic.
I honestly love how you single-handedly dismiss countless artists, musicians and philosophers as "frankly pathetic" in one bold statement. It takes real balls to do that, you know? If you want to force everyone on this planet to abide by your single-minded, likely religiously driven creed then you are no better than some North Korean totalitarian psychopath. People have personal freedom, and the vast majority of drugs aren't nearly as bad as alcohol or tobacco. If you look at the many things that recreational drugs (excluding tobacco and alcohol) have given us, from art to music, they far outweigh the problems they have caused.

Seems like you're just trying to justify your smoking addiction. Those who say they're not addicted are usually always wrong. Try stopping, and you'll realize it.

Wow. I knew this would happen, in the face of pure logic someone HAS to bring their own brainwashed opinion into this. Really, if you can't at least argue my points don't even try, you're just making yourself look stupid.

lol argueing over the internet.

I'm surprised nobody's pulled out the "For all we know you're a wide-eyed mindless person on the internet, with half your braincells killed off". Even if you try to prove you're not, there's always the doubt that you're telling the truth, so in its entirety, this whole topic is just a bunch of people on a fruitless endeavor.

I believe it is default human logic to assume someone who smokes weed 3 times a week and denies self-righteously that they are not addicted, is addicted.
Of course, I do not KNOW this. But it is just the primary assumption.

Haha true, I guess I can't really prove that to any of you, but I know that I am not addicted, for I have quit several times with no cravings at all. But I really don't know why this is about me now, my original post was simply to point out the ignorance and ignorance of some people in this thread, so I don't really care what you think at all, because I know that I'm perfectly happy and in control of my own life. :)

I never said I disagreed with you. You are right; weed is much less dangerous than other some other legal stuff like alcohol. But the fact stand that it is illegal. But trying to outlaw tobacco and alcohol just gets us more speakeasies and Al Capone problems i.e. it'll basically promote all kinds of illegal activity.

You'll have to excuse me, but that was really lame what you did that. This isn't a debate, so chill, bro. You may not like to admit it, but you are addicted (3 smokes a week, bro? Honestly, you must be a real idiot not to put the math together). Truth hurts.

Haha, yeah. Just because I smoke a certain amount a week doesn't mean I'm addicted. That makes no sense. If I smoked that much a week and couldn't stop doing so, I would be addicted. In fact, I just went on a three week vacation to Mexico and didn't touch it for that whole time, not feeling a thing.

Honestly, my mom smokes cigarettes every single day. I don't think 3 times a week is too much, even if it's bad for you. If it gets any higher than that, then he needs to start thinking a little more.

The claim was that one must be mentally ill to even think about taking drugs, or to take drugs, or however the hell it was phrased.

Either retract your statement or back it up, since I can find countless examples of people who weren't mentally ill that take marijuana.

I'm not an expert in drugs. But I've seen many people deny their addiction to drugs; it's not uncommon. I'm just relating past events with this one. And 3 weeks isn't exactly a lot to prove you're not addicted. Watching porn is addictive, but not much people admit to it. When you try stopping, you'll notice the difficulty. If you don't have the "Busty Babes" magazine or your computer at hand, you won't have the urge to do it. Similarly, if you're on vacation to Mexico and you don't have the necessary material, you won't have any urge to do it. If you truly aren't, then try stopping for good. We both know it's bad for you. Its also illegal. You shouldn't have a problem. However, my opinion means nothing to you, so don't consider me a threat.

Cigarettes are much easier to get; just go down to your good ol' drug store. Pot isn't so easily attained, and considering its illegal, it's not that cheap.

Actually, if a cigarette smoker tried to stop for three weeks, they would be DYING for a smoke. My mother was addicted cigarettes since she was 16, and I've seen first hand how hard it is for addicts to quit. After 2 days, she started to get very on edge and craving cigarettes. Believe me, if I wanted to stop, I would, (classic words of an addict, I know, but this is not the same thing) but it affects my life in a positive way, so I have no motivation to stop. If I start fiending for cash or something to smoke pot, then you would most certainly be correct, but I fail to see your point. Also, I do not consider you a threat, I apologize if some of my comments earlier seemed a little harsh.

Affecting your life in a good way? I'll take your word for it. Nothing wrong with a little bit of artificial happiness.

Hows this for motivation: you get caught, you go to jail. Positive, eh? Lemme finish my ramen noodles and I'll google the average sentence (my guess is 1-2 years). Maybe it's not even jail.

Edit:
Ya, I was about right. No joke, don't mess with the law. It might seem okay, but you shouldn't be risking your life for something as ridiculous as pot, especially if you claim you can stop.

Anyway, here's the article I found: http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/524483_10

Fair enough. I feel I use it responsibly enough not to get caught. I never carry any around with me at school, or even walking around town really. I've never had a stoner friend that's gotten caught because they're always safe about it and keep their business on the down low. I do know people that have gotten caught at school, but they're just careless. I unerstand that it's against the law, but I have a feeling it won't be much longer, at least here in Canada.

Yeah, I will. Haha the penalties for weed here are MUCH less sever than the states anyway, if I were to get caught, they'd probably just take my stuff and take me home.

I don't understand why people do drugs, when laughter is healthier and more effective (fact), but I guess laughter can be hard to come by if you have no sense of humor (like 52% of YCM), but theres always adrenilin, IE: Sports, Intense movies, Porn (sex for the married man (but who is actually maried that uses a yugioh fourm anyway?))

Being president usually implies not being mentally-ill, and I'm fairly sure Obama took pot at some point in his life.
