Hi guys. I am sort of a begginer splicer and wanted to know if my work is good.
Splice 1:
Splice 2:

They are all OK, the first splice, did you flip the Gastly? NEVER FLIP UNLESS YOU CAN RESHADE!
Second one's legs are in a weird position, and are not shaded. I'm guessing they are from Kanghaskan, if not scratched. And some colour near the right arm isn't in the lines.
Third is awkward, the Cubone skull has a weird eye, and looks like it isn't even connected to the sludge. I have attempted something like this, I'd recomend adding sludge coming out the eye or over the skull.
Fourth is worst, not including the second. Tail and legs are the worst parts I'm guessing, nails in each head remind me of Frankenstein :P Horns are in awkward positions and tails look like they're missing some pixels, and nearly everything looks flipped.
Overall, the first looks the best to me, but there are still many problems. The worst is the second, no shading in any of it.
Do you know all the tricks? Like eraser recolouring and such?
If these are your first ones ever, the first and third are above average.

I see a lot of issues with these, and I'll briefly talk about some of your larger issues.

To answer your question about flipping first, it's bad for the shading. There is a thing known as a light source. It essentially is the hypothetical point in which the light that shines on the sprite comes far. It is what decides how it is shaded. It is why on a typical Pokemon sprite the top left of it is brighter than the bottom right. When you take a part and flip it, you basically make the shading on that part backwards. To some, this creates a glaring and obvious mistake, and makes the splice look very sloppy.

Save as .PNG: This is an important step. Whenever you save, the first, the last, and all the times in between, you need to save as a ".PNG". It's an important thing to pay attention to. If ignored, things turn out like yours did. Details/quality is dropped in other formats, so .PNG is the way to go with anything spriting. Mess it up once ever, and the quality could be gone forever. Issues can arise when uploading, so make sure the uploader you are using doesn't covert the image to something else either. I mean it when I say it's important. A sprite of any sort can't be taken seriously when its quality is lost.

I also noticed you lost the shading on some of the splices. This is another big no-no. Shading is important. Without it, a sprite loses its depth, shape, texture, and more. When recoloring, you need to recolor with multiple shades, not just one solid and same color.

That's all I'll mention. The saving as .png and the lack of shading are your two biggest issues. You have balance, position, and conceptual issues too, but I don't want to overload you with too much info.

Now what I'm going to say is not meant to steer you away from forms of spriting. You should continue to practice and do this. It also is meant to be mean or anything. I have nothing personal against you. However you did ask how good these and you are. I would say that these are easily below average, and you need a lot of work to make anything that I could say is impressive, good, or even "not bad." If you're able to cover the points I cover, you could improve a nice amount. Oh and try to not use "I'm just a begginner" or "these were my first" as an excuse. I've seen plenty of people do better their first time. Beyond just spriting well, if you plan to continue this art form, you need to learn to accept critique and not make too many excuses. Swelled ego only gets in the way.

Thank you. I coulda gone on and on and on... Ooh! I just looked at them in Paint and guess what! Unrecoloured borders. I was betting myself Jappio would cover these, but no, he didn't. I'm surprised. I first saw the unrecoloured borders on number one, on the gas leaks (lol) and joint between the heads, and again on number two, near the right arm and legs. The only splice that wasn't a .PNG was number four. I'm also seeing stretched or double pixels, somewhat like the ones Jappio critiqued from HueyK (or whatever his name is now.) Badly scratched lines in Sludgebone (number three) and absolutely NO shading on number three either whatsoever (except the lines through the slime.) Looking through these was showing that the shading problems are worse than they look zoomed-out.
So far, overall is a few levels worse than they were.

I suppose you're right, only the 4th had .jpeg type issues. I don't know why, but at a glance the others appeared the same way. Might have something to do with the lack of shading and the thick borders in some parts.

I too am shocked I didn't noticed the unrecolored borders. I'm sure I would have noticed them had I copied them into paint, but that shouldn't matter, I normally notice such an error from normal viewing.

Overall, I must be losing my touch or something =P

In the very least though my opinion and points don't change. Be sure to always save as .PNG, keep the shading proper, and etc.
