Started this back in October or something but it didn't even pull itself into the IC section so I'm trying to bring this thing to fruition. Now the setting of this RP is completely canonical but what will happen may or not be able to be. I will also be adding extra things in such as extra weapons and Covenant members and maybe even another faction like the Flood if this gets far enough to need one (Though at the moment, this is strictly going with the UNSC VS Covenant). Codename: Lady is co-host. Just so everyone knows. [spoiler=Plot!]Circumstance. A UNSC Colony within the Epsilon Eridani system. A planet with many severe, radical and constant weather changes, it is widely considered to be both a true Paradise, at least from a scientific standpoint, and a Hell-on-Earth. After The Fall of Reach, the Covenant sent the majority of their armada to other star systems but left a fraction behind for unknown purposes. This small fraction, while less than a fifth of the amount used to attack Reach, was still a large enough force to be reckoned with. This was proved slightly before than the Fall of Reach itself, by the Jiralhanae (Colloquially known as Brutes) pack aboard the single ship Valorous Salvation. This single pack of Jiralhanae and Unggoy (Grunts...) quickly decimated the sparsely populated planet of Beta Gabriel. Being only a resort planet of sorts and holding a population of only around 500 and the fact that most other planets were being attacked at the time, the other planets within the Epsilon Eridani system neither heard nor responded to the falling of this planet. Circumstance. This planet, as well as Beta Gabriel due to it's sparse population, was the only planet within the Epsilon Eridani system not to be attacked at the same time as Reach. As Reach fell, and the Armada split, the covenant turned the focus of it's small fraction towards Circumstance. Due to the massive reports of attacks with the Epsilon Eridani system, UNSC had quickly dispatched a small force to defend any remaining. Their first objective on this mission: Gain a foothold in Circumstance's most ruthless desert of Pandora.[/spoiler] [spoiler=RULES NOT TO BE SCREWED WITH!]Of course, we have the standard RP and general board rules. Obviously this will only be invoked if there is a major hole anywhere or someone is trying to screw the rules. POST REGULARLY AND PROPERLY! I really don't want this to die. At all. So, this rule means that you will both post regularly, anything past 3 days without an excusable reason is irregular, and properly, keeping at least 2 or 3 other posts between your own as well as making sure your posts are at least around 4 lines. If someone doesn't abide by this, they're getting a (completely metaphorical) slap. If someone gets 3 'slaps' they're getting a boot. Popular demand brings you a new product, the "IDLE CHARACTER POLICY"! This new policy means that in the event that you have not posted for any longer than 48 hours, your character is subject to outside influence. This means that if you want your character to be controlled solely by you, post regularly. Large, square jaw as well as his thick grey stubble give him the appearance of someone in a position of authority, a reflection of his standing within the UNSC. His left ear is missing, a large plasma burn scar left in it's place. Personality: Ever aware of his surroundings, showing near-superhuman level of of both accuracy and speed. This carries into his way of talking and influences his views on others. He tends to speak and think fast and believes that others should do as well, thus reducing the amount of time spent talking and increasing the amount of time spent working, whether in combat or otherwise. Preferred Weapon: He utilises a unique, one of a kind EMP Rifle codenamed the "Iron Lizard". Oringally wanted it to be the "Concrete Donkey" but was turned down by his superiors for sounding "too idiotic for a SPARTAN to be using." Though it's original power source is unknown, the Iron Lizard used by Eddy-081 uses a handbuilt modification of the BA-53635/PLMD non-replaceable batteries used by Spartan Lasers. This modified battery, as well as being able to be charged by the standard PP-16979/AM-Sh charger, can be recharged using the Covenant's Plasma Batteries which, unlike the PP-16979/AM-Sh charger, are highly common on the battlefield. However, the method of using the Plasma Batteries as a method of chargin is highly dangerous and, when it goes wrong, can create an explosion roughly twelve times larger than if the Plasma Battery were simply destroyed by projectile fire. Another addition to the battery is a custom-built hand crank. This, while being extremely unreliable as a sole method of charging due to it's low output, can be used as a secondary method of fire, though it's use in combat is extremely low. While energy is being generated manually, an oversite in the batteries production as well as a feature that was overlooked in the actual gun's design, causes the prongs at the end of the rifle to generate a slight electromagnetic field that, while not strong enough to outright shut down an energy shield, will cause considerable havoc with electrical equipment and, when the prongs are within a very close range of an unshielded target, can cause massive problems internally, particularly with the brain and the heart. When the trigger of this gun is pulled, it releases a high powered Electromagnetic Pulse that causes damage internally on par with the external damage cause by Type-1 Antipersonnel (Plasma) Grenades, though this strength is quickly dispersed afterwards, highly reducing the chances of obtaining anything higher than two kills in a single shot. With each pull of the trigger, roughly seven percent of the battery's charge is used. This effectively gives the rifle twelve shots without recharging. Accent: British Other: Eddy, despite his considerable combat prowess, was quickly moved onto the science team led by Dr. Halsey because of his prowess with mechanics, which he demonstrated midway through the Battle of Arcadia when he quickly modified several Kig-yar point defence gauntlets for use by himself and a small team of marines he was commanding. Personality: Thomas is one of the Most Intelligent SPARTAN's still alive, Proud but not Vain about it. He is serious about hiswork, though maybe just overworked as part of the Asymmetrical Action group, As outside Action, He is Care-free and relaxed. Thomas does not Speak or do Anything outside his Place, Unless it critical. Also, if he is overstressed or just Plain pissed off, venting his anger and frustration leads to one of Three Things: Something get's broken, Someone gets hurt, or the Covenant gets there Arses kicked with Several rounds of the SRS99 Sniper Rifle though there Ranks. He has various scars in multiple places on his face; a notable one is an "X"-shaped scar above his right eye. The "\" of the "X" falls down into his eye, though his vision is unaffected (so he says). Each scar serves as a memory of a fight against the Covenant. [b]Personality:[/b] Unlike most of his brothers and sisters, Jacob prefers to throw caution to the wind and act upon instinct alone. While this has proved effective occasionally, it mostly gets him in trouble. He is unusually kind and caring, and takes hardly any action to protect or help himself, preferring to spend his energy on others and their troubles before considering his own. He also has a fierce temper, which has become legendary among those he has served with. Once his anger erupts, he almost loses complete control of his mind and body. Shows respect to ally and enemy alike, sometimes going as far as honoring the last request of the dying, provided it doesn't involve the extermination of his squad and or species, which his enemies ask for far too often for some reason. They were initially set up as an extension to the SPARTAN-III program in 2532 but cost constraints on the project led the UNSC to create this separate branch of super-soldiers. The branch was created in total secret and the details of it were not shown to anyone outside of the team that set it about. This allowed the UNSC to be able to completely deny any involvement in the project if the details came to light. Trained like the SPARTAN-IIIs, they excel in squad based operations and are a force to be reckoned with. The creation of these soldiers involved using similar methods to the SPARTAN-IIs but used chemicals that were highly experimental and extremely dangerous in theory. [spoiler=Chemical Creation Story]The chemicals used for their creation were not entirely of human design nor contents. They were originally created in an attempt to create life-forms similar to the Huragok/Engineer in nature, an essentially mindless engineer, and were created through persistent analysis of the Huragok's biology. The project yielded no true results when it came to creating life and instead was changed to studying it's effects on naturally occurring life and was tested on mice. The mice that were tested showed extraordinary results. They developed increase mental activity as well as an increased speed in their physical development. Further testing showed that the mental activity was not merely an increase but was actually full-fledged boosts to the intelligence of the mice. They had developed an incredible understanding of all human language and were capable of performing tasks without any prior training, though only simple tasks were set such as touching the correct colour of lights in the order set as well as basic typing. Incredibly intrigued with these results, the chemicals were immediately put to test on human test subjects, all of whom were orphans around 2 years of age, alongside clearance to name these test subjects as the first of the SPARTAN-IV project. Unfortunately, due to the original data being kept on Jericho VII, after the planets glassing all records were lost which severely stunted any future prospects of replicating the tests without starting from square one. Despite this massive loss of data, the research continued and the subjects were all studied intently are were removed from greater society, being kept in controlled locations with little interactivity outside of each other. The results were similar to those shown with the mice, though due to their ability to communicate properly, the human subjects stated several side-effects that accompanied the treatment. Colour-blindness afflicted 100% of subjects as well as a flurry of migraines that the mice had not fully shown on 50% of the subjects, all of which stated that it felt like their heads were literally being filled. These were, however, the only widespread negative effects that were shown. As with the mice, the physical growth of the subjects was exponential. They progressed heavily both physically and mentally. By the time that the subjects had reached 20, they were on the same physical level as the Jiralhanae and had the mental intelligence on par with the Huragok.[/spoiler] SPARTAN-IVs have physical attributes to match Brutes as well as the mental level of Engineers. This leads them to be able to take on several Brutes in hand-to-hand combat with ease and has given them a kind of "natural AI" that allows them to fully analyse situations at speeds comparable to SPARTAN-IIs. However they do have the natural setbacks that humans typically have and aren't typically able to create heavily laid out battle plans and, due to their massive amount of knowledge, are likely to have their thoughts stray unless they remained focussed, a difficult feat for them without an actual physical reminder. Because of this, SPARTAN-IVs rely heavily on improvisation and always require at least two other soldiers as support and a focal point for their mind. Because of the nature of their creation, SPARTAN-IVs are emotionally defunct and are prone to outbursts, functioning similarly to children while out of combat. This causes them to be much less social than other soldiers and have often lashed out at team-mates while outside of combat. This, however, has never been recorded to have happened during combat, though several mission reports given by SPARTAN-IVs often involved more Covenant ambushes than initially reported so this may be an omission by the IVs. In combat situations, SPARTAN-IVs have been trained to work well within a team and expertly suppress any emotional outbursts while in combat. However, this suppression often leads to easier provocation. One incident with a new, cocky UNSC marine resulted in the SPARTAN-IV in question to cause lethal cranial damage to the marine. Thankfully, nobody had witnessed the event, and the highly childlike nature of the particular SPARTAN-IV resulted in him confessing to one of the scientists that he had "done a bad thing". SPARTAN-IVs are equipped in the same gear as SPARTAN-IIIs, albeit at a larger size. This means that they are not given energy shields. I'm trying to make this stuff at least half as detailed as what you'd expect from Bungie. PM me with your ideas and I'll set it up. NOTE 1.1: You CAN create new kinds of aliens and even UNSC units, though if you want to be one of them you'll have to really think about it as well as make them realistic. No super-men without drawbacks. Examples of drawbacks in the SPARTAN-IVs would be their colour-blindness, susceptibility to extreme migraines, childlike nature outside of combat situations as well as their extremely limited number. SPARTAN-II'S can only be Numbered from 001 to 300 Because of only Funding for 300 was supplyed, along with That Dr. Halsey could not Commsion another SPARTAN-II Generation. SPARTAN-III's however Only continue from 301 and up. They also have the Alpha, Beta or Gamma letter before, To show in which Company they where trained in. SPARTAN-VI's could continue this Tradition as they are originaly stemed from the SPARTAN-III project. Maybe as well they could be from 601+, And with only the Omega Company. [/quote] Sure thing with that reserve. I'll totally edit in that lettering thing, though not the numbers. There were quite a few IIIs that had a number below 300. The IIIs were numbered from 001 to whatever the amount of conscripts there were preceded by their company initial, for example Alpha Company only selected 300 of the 497 conscripts to become SPARTANS thus allowing their numbers to range from A001 to A497 just as Beta, which had 300 selected out of the 418 conscripted, ranged from B001 to B418. [/quote] Accepted but I'm changing changing the number to O098 merely so it fits the pattern. And the reason for the difference in first post is the fact that I thought that splitting everyone up at the beginning would make the plot move at a snails pace if just one person stopped posting for a couple of days. However, I will be adding a poll to see whether or not I should put the Squad setting back, along with the idle character control policy. The squad qon't factor into the original number, just the original company, such as A for Alpha or B for Beta. Considering that the numbers are also done in 3 digits, this would make him Chris-O098, with the O being Omicron. Other than that, it's fine. Just need clarification on one thing. I'm assuming that his proficiency with the Heavy Machine Gun mainly revolves around his usage of it as a turret and not as a personal weapon due to the fact that he's only a III and wouldn't be able to carry around the ammo. He is proficient when carrying it around, but will not be able to carry any amount of ammo over the 200 that is left when detached from the main ammo feed. While it is still attached, though, he can also be a very deadly asset. However, he will prefer it be used as a personal weapon. Since the weapon itself is very strong, and his method of killing allows him to conserve ammo, he will rarely need to drop the weapon if he can find one. I've reserved your spot and pointed out that you're co-host and I just realised that you don't have an app on the old thread apart from reserving leadership of a squad, though squads may not be coming back considering the 2 to 1 vote against them. @Mako: Yeah, that's too far. There's no way that anyone could be that proficient with a Heavy Machine Gun nor is there a way that a Heavy Machine Gun would be willingly given to a III that couldn't carry the ammo to ensure that it isn't discarded. [/quote] Sure, they could carry them around, but they could never one-shot anything except maybe the weakest of grunts and moa. I'm speaking from a realistic and practical standpoint when I say that, considering the inaccuracy of the turrets, it'd be highly unlikely for a III to be at all skilled enough with a Heavy Machine Gun to be on that level of proficiency which makes it difficult to warrant its usage as a standard weapon considering it's limited ammo and relative scarcity. [/quote] That's only if you're assuming that you're accuracy is 100% with the first shot which is clearly untrue with Heavy Machine Guns. My point was that, due the inaccuracy of the weapon, scarcity of ammo as well as the amount of ammo necessary to take down a small amount of enemies when compared to more widely used weapons such as the DMR, there really is no real reason to give a Heavy Machine Gun to a soldier when a DMR would allow a higher kill count per bullets fired. When it comes down to it, war's just a numbers game. @Random Dude: Totally in. You've got two of the most necessary features for these kinds of things. You're both the Token Russian as well as the Token Sniper. Your app is also good, though I'm going to have to knock the letter off of the number. IIs don't have those letters.
