[YCM Unrelated] I need help...

Don Shadow

Question

Imagine this. you're on google images searching a pic, and when you click on one, a window pops up that's not even a real window and it says that you have a virus, and when you try to exit a REAL window pops up saying it. i think it's fake because last time, it had me download an "anitvirus software" and my current Antivirus said that IT was a virus, thus giving me suspicion that it's fake. what the H*** is going on?

Agreed. Whenever you're checking at an site or something similar to it and it switches to "that" screen. That's just one form of a virus trying to hit you. More or less, talk to a person who's a techy about these sort of things. In my case, the exact same thing happend. Checking out an site where an page pops up and says I'm hit with a virus and askes me to download a program to delete or such, the program is obvisouly the virus itself.

In this case, a majority of people don't know much about computer safety (unfortunately, I was one of those folks) and will have choose to download it. With that in mind, programs that just randomly come at you like that, are scams. Don't buy it and just try your best to exit the page (and of course run a scan on the computer). In short, just exit the page and talk about a professional about this sort of thing (if you're currently in school, ask the computer teacher or your service provider as they should know about these sort of things).

Hope that helps.
