Tbh, I actually agree with you. He essentially sent slaves to their slaughter, I haven't got anything else to bring to the table really as I'm not American and have not had the opportunity to be educated about American history.

EDIT: A link to his wikipage wouldn't hurt, so people who don't know that much about him can be further educated. ;)

During the assassination of Lincoln he took eight "conspirators" or so he says and he tortured them for weeks before hanging them some of the eight didnt even know they were helping John W. Booth but he didnt care... He would not let the wife of Abraham Lincoln see her husband on his deathbed...

He was absolutely ruthless, but the Union had a brilliant military stratagem and won the war under his guidance. The torture was pretty terrible, but he had a big nationalistic streak. He doesn't seem to be any worse than many average Nationalist politicians (who are a bad crowd anyway) today.

Exactly I could not have said it any better myself... The reason I hate him so much though is because he is revered as a hero in America when in actuality that isnt the case...

Americans think Henry Kissinger is a hero as well. It's not unusual for them to idolize idiots.
