[[Yugioh ED]] Carrier Pigeon

Hello, everyone. As you may know, I recently decided to focus on extending my cardmaking work to match some of my current writing projects. In this case, I decided to give you guys a sneak peak at another of the many Japanese-styled cards cards which will be featured in my upcoming writing project, End of Days. This card is additional support to the Deck that plays Salvo Crane and Edge Falcon. It is used by an important supporting character.

As always, your comments and suggestions are appreciated.

Carrier Pigeon
Level 1
Wind
Winged Beast-Type/Effect
ATK 0 / DEF 0
If the only monsters in your Graveyard are WIND monsters you can Special Summon this card from your hand in Attack Position. You can only control 1 "Carrier Pigeon" at a time. When this card is Special Summoned by this effect, you can activate 1 of the following effects: • Draw 1 card from your Deck. • Destroy 1 monster your opponent controls.

How is this card even remotely unoriginal? I'm curious, as the only card I used to reference it was Immortal Bushi, and that was more for OCG than anything else.

I didn't make it a Tuner because I felt that despite the restrictions I placed upon it (Special Summon in Attack Position, low ATK/DEF, etc.) its near-costless Special Summoning ability in a themed Deck would make it too powerful. Plus, Salvo Crane is already the signature "Tuner" of this Deck. I also thought that even as tribute fodder, it's quite useful. As for the specific monster-destroying ability, the reason is the same; theoretically, you could summon this card, destroy an opponent's monster, then spring Icarus Attack and take out two more cards. After that, you are free to Special Summon another Carrier Pigeon from your hand.

Well, most cards that seem original, are actually not that original, but are useful. For example, there are various cards that can Special Summon themselves when something is fulfilled, along with them having an additional effect that they can use when that monster is Special Summoned in a certain way. So if I had to rate it's originality out of say 4, I'd give it a 2, due to the concept being overused, but in the end, does make for a useful card.

For a card to be somewhat original, it needs to use a concept like no other, or use a bunch of odd concepts that have been used, but use them in a way that people would not think of doing. For example, Crystal Beasts are quite unique, along with Trap Monsters, due to their twist on such simple things.

Yeah, that's usually what I aim for, and felt that I was representing with this card, as there aren't many cards that depend upon Type- or Attribute-specific Graveyards to work; I can only think of Solidarity and Immortal Bushi off the top of my head.
