Appearance: Brian stands at exactly six feet tall and weighs about 180 pounds. He has an average body type with some extra muscle strength in his arms from weight-lifting and in his legs from running. His eyes are hazel while his hair is a darker brown. His hair is a little shaggy and reaches down his forehead, almost touching his eyebrows. He keeps a five-o-clock shadow and almost never gets clean shaven. Towards the right of his mouth is a small mole, and on the left side of his neck is a scar.

Clothing: Street: Brian wears a black, long sleeve shirt. It's tight against his chest and has a picture of a sword surrounded by roses. He also wears dark, loose jeans and black Nike shoes. To top it all off, he also has a necklace with a heart-shaped locket on it. He keeps the locket under his shirt, but it remains mostly hidden since it's almost flat. Pilot Suit: A black, full body jump suit that zips up in the front.

 

Personality: Brian tends to keep to himself. He doesn't like to socialize with most people due to not knowing them. He has a huge trust issue. However, once he gets to know someone, he opens up. That's when he because generally active and has a hard time shutting up. He also has a long fuse when it comes to getting angry. But once the fuse his gone, he's someone you don't want against you.

Outside of the normal way he acts, he is also an intelligent person. Because of this, he likes to play games like chess and engage in heated discussions. Discussions are generally the only time when he will talk a lot with someone he doesn't know. Brian tends to be a guy who likes to make his opinion known.

History: As he was growing up and going to school, he began to complain that school was to easy. So his father decided to introduce him to chess. He quickly caught on and began winning tournaments. However, he never became an ego-maniac, a surprise to most people. Once he made it to high school, he developed an interest in machines. This, and along with his mother working for a company responsible for designing mechas, lead him to interacting with mechas. Soon, he knew exactly how to work them and even began helping his mother with testing. Once he reached the legal age, he joined the military and became acquainted with war tactics...most of which he already knew.

Reason for Joining: About seven months ago, the girl he fell in love with in High School disappeared. He has no idea why or who exactly did it. He does however know that it was a high up official in one of the five superpowers. So he has joined the Pacific Rim hoping that he will find her. The locket he wears was given to him and contains a picture of her.

Type: Medium-Range

Description: The mecha looks like a normal mecha, but slightly different and it stands at sisxteen feet tall being a special mecha for his piloting skills. The hovering system is more efficient, the armor is tougher, and the mecha is by far sleeker than the normal, bulky ones. It's pure black with dark grey eyes on the head. From a far, it almost looks like death himself.

Arsenal: "Reaper" has the standard rifle gun strapped to it's right leg along with two Hack Wires on it's chest. On it's left leg is strapped a small, standard Forge Blade usually used in tight, close combat situations. The most unique weapon in the "Reaper's" arsenal is the one on it's back. It's a simple pole. But once activated, it turns into a Forge Blade in the shape of a Scythe.

Name: Gui "The Duke" Leduc

Gender: Male

 

Ethnicity: 100% Canadian, direct descendant of the French settlers of Canada

 

Place of Birth: Sault St. Marie, Quebec, Canada, U.N.A.S.

 

Appearance: 6' 1", thin and wiry frame, Caucasian skin tone. Gui's short brown hair is usually unkempt and messy, but is able to maintain its exact shape event through the most rigorous battles. His eyes are deep brown and give out an air of haughtiness and confidence. His body is muscular from the army training, marked with the occasional scar here and there. On his face is an almost perpetual grin, making Gui look like an overtly proud person. However, most of the time, this grin is worn ironically, the opposite of his mood.

 

Clothing: His usual attire is rugged, appearing ready to enter the wilderness at the drop of a hat. He wears a thick cotton shirt, a weathered leather jacket, a pair of army cargo pants and heavy hiking boots. Along his belt are various tools, including a Swiss Army knife, a flask and a 10 inch hunting knife. His fight suit is a tight fitting white leather suit with a red maple leaf on the back.

 

Personality: Gui is a thrill seeker at heart. Bored by almost anything, Gui is constantly on the search for the next big thing. As a result, in between drinking sessions/highs/adrenaline rushes, Gui is jaded, indifferent and often viciously cynical and sarcastic. He is a heavy smoker, drinker and drug user, often carrying a flask of absinthe around with him just in case things get too boring. However, when he is drunk/high, he becomes a very pleasant individual, as philosophical and full of wisdom as a drunk man can be.

His opinion of the politics of the world is contradicting. He is patriotic UNAS (Canada in particular) citizen, but he also hates the UNAS as a country, mostly because of the corruption in the government. This patriotism is opposed to his anarchist ideals, which lead him to believe "the Man" is the cause for most of the evil in the world. This inner contradiction further contributes to his cynicism.

 

History: Gui was born to a lower-middle class family in Sault St. Marie. He never had much money, but that never stopped Gui from having fun. As a child, he would be the first to jump off the high diving board and the first to try rolling down a hill in a barrel, causing much fretting on his mother's part. As Gui grew older, his crazy antics became more serious, evolving to vandalism and gang fights. His father was not pleased by this and forced him to enlist in the Army, hoping it would straighten him out. In the Army, Gui proved to be an effective but unruly soldier, managing to both enrage and impress his drill sergeant at the same time. Despite his disobedience, Gui managed to get promoted into the UNAS Exframe division. It was in an Exframe where he fought most of his battles. He fought in the favelas of the contested cities of Central America. The battles slowly changed him, making him more cynical and less interested in life, corrupting his integrity as a soldier. He began doing the drugs confiscated from the cartels and got an addiction to absinthe, resulting in many reprimands from his superiors. At this time, Gui also started to see the corruption within the army, where he started seeing the superiors selling the confiscated drugs to the black market in the UNAS. He got frustrated with the corruption and his lack of freedom and went AWOL, stealing a prototype Exframe before escaping to the Pacific Rim on a cartel boat. Upon arriving in the Pacific Rim, the Flood quickly identified Gui as an obvious candidate, seeing as he already had an Exframe and military training.

 

Reason for Joining: Disgruntled with the corruption of the UNAS military and government and unsatisfied with fighting small skirmishes against cartels.

 

Additional: At any given moment, there is a 50/50 chance of Gui being drunk or high.

Name: "Chaplain" Model UNASSA-358 Hybrid Shock Assault Frame

 

Type: Hybrid (effective at all ranges)/ Shock Assault (Frontline battle, under heavy fire)

 

Description: Based on a standard mass production model, its body is slightly more angular and slightly larger than the generic. Its body is customized to resemble a monk wearing a robe, its head is covered with a hood and the body is covered in long armour plates made to resemble the folds of a robe. Its body is painted red with white designs, forming a large white cross on the front and back.

 

Arsenal: "Arquebus" UNASWS-420 Exframe Shock Assault Weapon System: The Arquebus is a weapon held by the Chaplain and designed for use by the Chaplain. No other Exframe can use it as it requires the Chaplain's unique digital signal to function. Its shape is reminiscent of the arquebus used during warfare in the dawn of gunpowder warfare. However, it is not a simple gunpowder ballistic rifle. Its main weapon is an electromagnetic railgun that fires 2 kg depleted uranium slugs at Mach 5, causing grievous damage to almost any target of any armour type. Each round must be loaded individually, but each slug is capable of large AoE damage if fired at the ground. However, due to the large explosion created on impact with the target, the Arquebus cannot be fired at close range without chance of damaging the weapon. At the end of the barrel is a long bayonet that uses the same vibration technology as the Forge Blades, making the Arquebus an formidable melée weapon as well. The blade can also be charged with powerful electric currents, allowing it to stun any Exframe it makes contact with. This electric property can be over charged to emit bolts of lightning, but this method of attack is extremely inefficient on energy. 

tl;dr, it's a rifle with a knife.

Good lord do I adore him. Just one problem: they aren't going to let him pilot an Exframe while drunk and/or high. Please make note of that. Also, I get that he's a big nationalist, but you're working for Flood, and having such big symbols of a foreign government everywhere on the Exframe and pilot suit will be big diplomatic no-no's. Change that around

I could really care less if I got denied. I'm willing to spend another half hour making a whole new character. I just wanna know exactly how my first character was cliched so I can avoid that. I apologize if my post came off any other way. I type weird when I'm shocked...and when my bloody head hurts. >.>

 

But, it appears that I have been rejected from this RP for good and with no explanation as to how my character was cliched (when I literally thought it all off the top of my head and have seen nobody use a character like mine before). Ah well. I love wasting my time when it could have been used for something far more productive. Ethnicity: 1/2 Russian, 1/2 Irish

Place of Birth: Washington, D.C., U.S.A.

 

Appearance: Ryan, although having quite a bit of Irish blood in his veins, looks nothing like an Irishman.. He is built heavily; at a huge 7'1 and 346 pounds combined with a muscular physique, he looks apt to crush the life out of anyone and everything. He has average length slicked back black hair, and a pitch black soul patch which he cares for very deeply. His eyes are a magnificent combination of bright blue-green. Multiple scars run along the length of his face; they are remnants of fights long passed.

 

Clothing: His typical street clothing is a plain white T-Shirt, which fits him just enough so that it is bound over his skin like that of a hide stretched on a tanning bed. He wears specially fitted blue-jeans, with each leg having multiple rips. He is always wearing his fathers stopwatch, which has been passed down from generation to generation in his family. His pilot suit is a dark blue color, with a more simple Tribal pattern running along the arms. Nothing much can be said about his clothes- he likes to keep it simple.

 

Personality: Ryan has a stark personality- he loves nothing more to be short and to the point. Asking him a question will usually result in a one worded answer- and sometimes he doesn't even answer at all. This doesn't go to say that he isn't smart; in fact, it's quite the opposite. His IQ has tested for a well-above average of 146, which counters his huge brawler-like appearance.

 

Loyalty is a bit hard to gain from Ryan- he trusts no one but himself. He judges people based on a first impression, and is very quick to do so. It is near impossible to make very good friends with him, as he will probably wave you off as someone who is going to disappoint him at some point in time.

 

History: Ryan was born to a middle class family (to a Russian mother [Tracey Volkov] and an Irish father [Nolan Whelan]) on their annual holiday to America's capital. His birth was quite unexpected at the time; he was 2 weeks early. After he was born his family immediately caught a flight back to Ireland, which is where they lived. He grew up in the bustling city of Dublin, where he went to school. He grew up a happy child, making many friends and sometimes losing them. It wasn't until he hit the ripe age of 13 that he started hitting his unnatural growth. At the time he was enrolled in High-School he was 6'4, and at the time of his Senior year he was 6'10. His freakishly huge height had earned him several nicknames, and many made fun of him for it. This turned him into more of an isolated person, even though he stood out wherever he went.

 

After High School he applied for and was instantly accepted into a prestigious North American school that went by the name of Harvard. His exceptionally good GPA (4.6) and extremely good computing skills earned him his place there in Scientific Computing as a student.

 

After college he spent his time writing programs for a company by the name of Shikura Heavy Industries for a type of machine called the Exframe. After 3 years of working for Shikura, he quit in search of a new place to live out his life. His travels brought him to New Zealand, where he met a Maori woman, whom he started to grow fond of. He asked the woman to marry him, but she declined, saying "I'm sorry. I don't think it will work out with someone like you."

 

He was heartbroken, and felt like he had no purpose in life. 3 years passed, which he spent wasting away in a small house outside of the city of Nelson. He decided he must do something with his life, and he joined the efforts as an Exframe pilot.

Reason for Joining: He felt that his life was wasting away, and he wanted to do something and make a change in the world.

Additional: He has a strange affection for Cats.

Type: Extreme Range Sniper

 

Description: Wulfenking is a short, stocky mech with a few features that make it stand out from the rest of the long ranged mechs. Its head is simple- it is only a pitch black ball with a sonar beacon coming out the back of it. Its main chest area is also simple, being an armored spherical case housing all of its vital systems. Its arms and legs, however, are a different story. It has immense claws on each hand, made for digging deep into the ground and staying there. Its feet also have claws in them, but these are retractable unlike the ones on his arms.

Arsenal: The arsenal for this Mech is a bit limited- when creating it, Ryan wanted to keep it simple. It has a small Forge blade that can extend out of its hand, in case it ever has the need to get close to its target. The real shining achievement on this mech is not just a regular assault weapon- it is a full out Extreme Long Range Focused Electromagnetic Pulse Rifle (An ERFEP Rifle, for short.) located on its back. This unique weapon has a range unparalleled in the entire fleet of the Pacific Rim - its range can be anywhere from 10 to 200 miles. This weapon directs an electromagnetic pulse focused within the rifle into a steady beam, burning through most material instantly and frying all but the sturdiest of Exframes. This weapon does not come without its shortcomings, though. It weighs a massive 5 tones, considerably slowing down the Wulfenking. All the weight does not come from the weapon, though. It comes from the massive recharger, which through the power of a second dedicated Solomon Reactor it can recharge in less than 5 minutes instead of the usual 45 minutes it takes to recharge by drawing power from one. The ERFEP also has a second firing mode, in which it can rapidly pellet its targets with electro-statically charged bullets. Aside from those two weapons it has, it also has an advanced targeting system that allows it to track its opponents every move up to a range of 50 miles. Over that range, all tracking shifts to the users ability.

Right...me wanting to know how something I just thought of is "cliched" totally means I'm "douching you around", doesn't it? Trust me, compared to how I COULD act, this is me being civil and polite. I would be happy to change all that for you though if you want. Or you could just simply tell me how my character is "cliched".

I can see why Kyubey would reject your character. His personality is the generic quiet guy from Shōnen edging on a Gary Stu. The quiet guy who requires work to open up is a character archetype overused far past its second reincarnation and the dash of intelligence just makes him too perfect, adding the Gary Stu. His reason for joining sounds like something straight out of a Shōnen plot. For some reason, his high school girlfriend, apparently normal, is randomly kidnapped by a world leader and now he must travel around the world to find the man who stole his girlfriend, extending into the 9001st season.

 

tl;dr, character is in fact overused and not every app you make will be gold, honorable Dwarven King.

 

Also Music Note-san, you may want to change the personality of your character as he sounds very similar to honourable Dwarven King's.
