Master Red
While this card remains face-up on the field, players must pay 800 Life Points in order to conduct a Normal Summon. In addition, in order to Special Summon monsters (not including Token Monsters) players must remove from play monsters in their Graveyard with a Level equal to or higher than the Level of the monster they wish to Special Summon. During each player's Standby Phase, the turn player may send 1 monster from their hand or Deck to the Graveyard in order to Special Summon 1 "Lotus Token" (DARK, Level 1, Plant-Type, ATK/0, DEF/0) to their side of the field (a Lotus Token cannot be used as the tribute for a Tribute Summon or Synchro Summon). Whenever a Lotus Token is Special Summoned by this effect, place 1 "Lotus Counter" on this card. Increase the ATK of all "Lotus" monsters (including "Lotus Tokens") by 200 for each Lotus Counter on this card. If this card would be removed from the field you can pay 1000 Life Points instead. ragnarok1945
why only 100 atk boost? Seems a bit small to me, I would have made it 200 instead for each counter it's not like you have a max counter limit after all 9/
Master Red
Well the reasoning behind the extremely low ATK increase was that I thought people would think it was OP otherwise, kinda expected to get OP replies anyways >_> as always, your comment is appreciated. I'll change it to 200 shortly ^^
ragnarok1945
me, I just don't think with 100 it'll go up fast enough, that's all
Master Red
Yeah I guess, I was just taking all the other effects into account as well and that was the reasoning behind it. I mean, Special Summoning will be hard if there's a high level monster and Normal Summoning has a cost.
ragnarok1945
yeah those were balanced out to me, hence I didn't criticize on it
Master Red
Yes I figured. Although I guess 200 increase wouldn't be broken as both players can get them quite easily and the summoning restrictions applies to both players as well. Hence, both players get the exact same pros and cons from this card without supporting only 1 attribute, type or archetype... so yeah, when I think about it the card is good but balanced ^^
ragnarok1945
yeah that's what I was getting at now, had you said 500 of a boost, THEN I'd say it's broken as hell
fenrir
why only 100 atk boost? Seems a bit small to me, I would have made it 200 instead for each counter it's not like you have a max counter limit after all 9/10
...Why would you even use this card for the attack boost? The boost is not what you should care about in this card, it's the fact it locks down Special Summoning in an amusing way. The cost for Normal summoning is annoying at best I'd say, and I haven't seen any other Lotus cards so I can't say much on how useless/useful that boost would be. If anything, the fact you can pay 1000 LP to keep the card on the field is pretty... Abusable. I could MST it and you could just pay 1000, hell, I can't really do anything unless I can get out a card that negates spell effects on your side of the field, THEN MST it or something. Granted, the wording itself is somewhat confusing (the part on sending a card to the grave to summon tokens, and the part where it says if the card is removed from the field, you can pay 1000 to keep it) but otherwise I can see this being used in anti-meta decks. So... Not overpowered; either balanced or underpowered, depending on the rest of the archetype.
Master Red
Thanks for the input Fen and yeah nobody would use the card for the ATK increase, it's just a little bonus I added so the Tokens could get somewhat useful after a while. After all, the card itself will cause both players to pretty much have to rely on them as Normal Summoning costs a fair share of LP and Special Summoning something good will require a bunch of monsters in your GY. Yeah the pay effect is there as most good field spells have a way to keep them on the field. Originally I thought of using the "remove counter" effect to keep it but that would be kind of over powered for a card of this nature. Paying 1000 Life Points is easy in a way as you don't need the counters to save the card but it's also a way higher cost than simpoly removing a counter. So yeah, abusable but it comes with quite the price Yeah the OCG might be off but idk how to word it better, if anyone knows feel free to help me out ^^ I made this especially as an Anti-Meta card, IDK if I'll add more cards to the "Lotus" Archetype but there's at least an opening for it. As of now the only card (that I know of) that benefits from the card's ATK increase is "Samsara Lotus" and that is basically a Lotus Token Thanks for the input ^^
