Scratch
I like the show, I like this game. So I melded them. Don't like it? That's fine by me, just don't go all hatin' up in here. When there are 2 or more "Equestrian" monsters on your side of the field, increase the ATK of this card by 1000. When this card is Normal Summoned, you can Special Summon 1 level 4 or lower "Equestrian" monster from your hand. During battle between this attacking card and a Defense Position monster whose DEF is lower than the ATK of this card, inflict the difference as Damage to your opponent. When this card inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent, Special Summon 1 level 4 or lower "Equestrian" monster from your Graveyard in Defense Position, its effect(s) are negated. When the effect of your opponent's card is activated that would destroy 1 or more "Equestrian" monsters you control, you can discard this card to negate that card and destroy it. Your opponent cannot select another "Equestrian" monster you control as an attack target. You can discard 1 "Equestrian" monster from your hand to make your opponent discard 1 card of their choice to the Graveyard. When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, add 1 "Equestrian" monster from your deck to your hand. When an "Equestrian" monster you control destroys an opponent's monster and inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent's Life Points, increase your Life Points by an amount equal to half the Battle Damage. (This one's a throw in, because she's my favorite character.) Once per turn, you can increase the level of an "Equestrian" monster you control by 1, until the End Phase. If this card is sent to the Graveyard for the Synchro Summon of an "Equestrian" monster, you can add 1 Spell/Trap Card with "of the Elements" in its name from your Deck to your hand. When this card is Normal Summoned, flip 1 monster on the field into face-down Defense Position. If this card attacks a Defense Position monster your opponent controls, destroy it immediately without applying damage calculation. 1 "Equestrian" tuner + 1 or more non-tuner "Equestrian" monsters Once per turn, you can Special Summon 1 "Equestrian" monster from your hand. If this card is destroyed by battle, you can remove from play 1 “Equestrian” monster in your Graveyard to Special Summon this card during the End Phase. 1 "Equestrian" tuner + 1 or more non-tuner "Equestrian" monsters This card cannot be Special Summoned, except by Synchro Summon. When this card is Summoned, flip all other monsters into face-down Defense Position, they cannot be Flip Summoned this turn. When this card destroys an opponent’s monster by battle, destroy 1 face-down Defense Position monster on the field. 1 "Equestrian" tuner + 1 or more non-tuner "Equestrian" monsters Once per turn, you can Special Summon 1 level 4 or lower "Equestrian" monster from your Graveyard, it's effects are negated. Any monster Special Summoned by this effect is destroyed when this card is removed from the field. After activation, Special Summon this card; it is treated as a Normal Monster (Dragon-Type/FIRE/Level 4/ATK 1700/DEF 200). (This card is still treated as a Trap Card.) Pay 1000 Life Points. Special Summon 2 "Equestrian" monsters from your hand. If this card is removed from the field, destroy the Summoned monsters. If either of the Summoned monsters are destroyed, destroy this card. Discard 1 card. Add 1 "Equestrian" monster from your Deck to your hand. Equip only to an "Equestrian" monster. It gains 600 ATK. When this card is destroyed while equipped to a monster, you can Special Summon 1 "Equestrian" monster from your hand. (Thinking of renaming this one. Last Ditch of the Elements? Sacrifice of the Elements?) Activate only when your opponent declares an attack targeting a face-up "Equestrian" monster you control. Negate the attack and destroy the attack target monster. Inflict damage to your opponent equal to the ATK of the destroyed monster. Tribute 1 or more "Equestrian" monsters you control. Select and activate one of the following effects - Draw a number of cards equal to the number of "Equestrian" monsters tributed - Destroy a number of Spell/Trap cards on the field equal to the number of "Equestrian" monsters tributed. Each face-up "Equestrian" monster you control gains 300 ATK for each "Equestrian" monster on the field. If this card is Special Summoned, destroy it during the End Phase. While this card is face-up on the field, when an "Equestrian" monster you control attacks and its ATK is higher than the DEF of an opponent's Defense Position monster, inflict the difference as damage to the opponent. That's the archetype so far. I have actually been doing play tests at my locals for a while. They don't do horrible, but more than half the time I lose. Oh well, point out any problems I have with OCG or if anything is too OP.
Exa Raiun
Wow, I am impressed! Especially for a new member, these cards seem to be really nice! Bonus points for playtesting them in actual duels. But now, let's check these cards : Twilight Sparkle: A card similar to Marauding Captain, and as such, effective help in Synchro Summons (being no Level 3 Equestrian monsters outside itself, not so much for Exceed Summons, but this is okay). The first effect supposed to include itself, too? If yes, the ATK boost effect's conditions can be fulfilled pretty easily, if that was your intention. Applejack: Somewhat lowish stats, but the effect can help in pulling out some swarming (or used in conjuction with the Tuners, more Synchro possibilites ~ this deck seems to be good for these purposes). Rainbow Dash: An effect to negate destruction cards? And a pretty good beatstick when used normally? I am so much okay with this! Pinkie Pie: Considering the ways to re-use monsters from your Graveyard, it is quite good. A once per turn limitation may be needed for balance reasons. Fluttershy: A flexible searcher monster, which is always a plus in an archetype. Rarity: An effect which can be useful at times, backed up by okayish stats - which means it won't stay on the field for long. Not too great, but not that bad either. Vinyl Scratch: Level adjustment is always good for Synchro / Exceed - related strategies, enough said. Spike: A Tuner which allows for deck thinning when used for a Synchro Summon. Considering the variety of the "Elements" cards, you can mess around with various strategies. Luna: Level 5 and higher Tuners are a bit of dark horse (no pun intended) in the game, unless they have an extra summoning condition. The built-in Book of Moon effect is not only fitting flavorwise, but also pretty useful, especially with Book of Moon itself being limited. Celestia: A bit hard to summon, but when she manages to enter the field, it is hard to get rid of her. The summoning effect is also great for a boss monster like her. Nightmare Moon: I kind of expected its Synchro Materials to be "Equestrian - Luna" + 1 or more non-Tuner "Equestrian" monsters, but yay for more flexibility! A suped-up version of the Book of Moon effect, which can annoy enemies to no end, ehehe~ Mayor Mare: Interesting to see what did you do with this concept, allowing for more swarming - with its penalty condition. Said condition is not that harmful actually, using enough protection or something like that. And you can always pull out a Tuner from your Graveyard...can you Special Summon the Tuner you just used for the Synchro Summon of this monster? Dragon Knight: A run-of-the-mill Trap Card which is also a monster, nothing more to tell about it. Forthcoming: As the Summoned monsters are vulnerable for either the destruction of this card or the destruction of themeselves, the most safe method is still a Tuner + a non-Tuner to use this card. I see the direction of this deck. Gathering: Reinforcement of the Army with a discard cost. Was the discard cost really needed? Power: Curious idea, but the last effect can be overcome easily by getting rid of the monster first. Reflection: Sakuretsu Armor / Magic Cylinder hybrid for this archetype. Combining the two effects together certainly makes it useful. Strategy: This deck has many ways to refill its frontline, so Tributing some of your monsters is not as bad as it looks like first. Unity: The local version of The A. Forces - which works well with the thematics of power of friendship and such.
Scratch
Twilight Sparkle: A card similar to Marauding Captain, and as such, effective help in Synchro Summons (being no Level 3 Equestrian monsters outside itself, not so much for Exceed Summons, but this is okay). If yes, the ATK boost effect's conditions can be fulfilled pretty easily, if that was your intention.
I was going for more of a Kageki, but MC works too, I guess. It's not written on the card yet (due to my own laziness), but it's implied that her ATK gain happens when there are two different "Equestrians' on the field, under my control.
Applejack: Somewhat lowish stats, but the effect can help in pulling out some swarming (or used in conjuction with the Tuners, more Synchro possibilites ~ this deck seems to be good for these purposes).
Basic combo for this card is to tribute Twi for it, destroy a monster and inflict damage, special Twi from grave, then sync into Celestia or NMM.
Pinkie Pie: Considering the ways to re-use monsters from your Graveyard, it is quite good. A once per turn limitation may be needed for balance reasons.
A limitation like that might not be needed. I usually don't keep "Equestrians" in my hand for her effect, and most decks, from what I've seen, can benefit at least a bit from discarding something, of their choice for that matter.
Nightmare Moon: I kind of expected its Synchro Materials to be "Equestrian - Luna" + 1 or more non-Tuner "Equestrian" monsters, but yay for more flexibility! A suped-up version of the Book of Moon effect, which can annoy enemies to no end, ehehe~
Reason it's not is because Luna can only tune with Rarity without any outside level modulation. Scratch can't get anypony up high enough for that except Twi, and she's a tuner herself.
Mayor Mare: Interesting to see what did you do with this concept, allowing for more swarming - with its penalty condition. Technically I guess you can call back Twi if she's in the Grave in order to go Celestia/NMM. Twi can only go into Mayor Mare with Fluttershy or Scratch with Scratch's boost though.
Dragon Knight: A run-of-the-mill Trap Card which is also a monster, nothing more to tell about it.
I get a lot of AJ/Luna/Pinkie in my hand with no way to summon them, so I put in some random trap monster for tributes, that's where he came from.
Gathering: Reinforcement of the Army with a discard cost. Was the discard cost really needed?
In my tests the discard doesn't do much to hinder my progress. I also saw how RotA was limited, and decided to give this a negative for being able to search anything without limits.
Reflection: Sakuretsu Armor / Magic Cylinder hybrid for this archetype. Combining the two effects together certainly makes it useful.
I think you misread this a bit. It says to destroy the Attack Target Monster, so the monster that was attacked, not attacking. Thanks for the feedback, you've given me somewhat of an idea of what to add, if anything, in later installments.
Exa Raiun
Well, I am happy to see that there are people who are working on creative sets with ideas that seem actually fun to play. Considering that you went through the main cast, will you go on minor characters (Cutie Mark Crusaders, Big Macintosh, Trixie, etc.) ? And sorry , I indeed did misread that one card, sometimes minor detail go over my attention - but in that case you are just better with Magic Cylinder itself... Exa Raiun
About the new card - giving Piercing Damage to all monsters in the archetype is a good thing, but the penalty regarding Special Summons make it trickier to pull out. Probably it should have an easier way to Normal Summon, like "If you control a face-up "Equestrian - Applejack", you can Tribute Summon this monster by Tributing 1 "Equestrian" monster you control." ~ which would also fit flavorwise, considering their relationship. Scratch
I tend to try to stay away from having one card that specifically helps or works with one other card. I gave him that condition so you can't just herp derp Celestia on everything. And I honestly couldn't think of anything for Mac, but that pic just made me think of him busting through Labyrinth Wall, so it works, I guess.
