New Type of Monster - Illusions

Recommended Posts

These Illusion monsters are in a similar band to Toon monsters with the way they function, although they have some slight differences. Illusion monsters do not have Attributes or Types (As their effects state) and they can also not exist on the field without Illusionary Temple. They also can all attack an opponent directly (Except for Curse of Illusion as 3000 direct attacking would be ridiculous with no drawback) but can only attack Illusion monsters if there are any, in a similar sense to Toon monsters. Every Illusion monster is numbered; 00 is the "Boss-monster" of the set, and all numbers up to 04 are Illusion monsters. After 04 the monsters are no longer Illusion monsters, but instead become Tuner monsters, in order to create Curse of Illusion. Their effects also prevent Illusionary Temple leaving a player with no options except for 0 ATK monsters. Every Illusion monster has a very powerful ability, which is why their ATKs (Except Curse of Illusion) are 0.

Now, I mentioned it enough as being the most powerful Illusion monster, and so here it is:
Lore: 1 non-Typed Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner Illusion monsters
This monster is treated as though it has no Attribute or Type. This monster cannot be attacked by a non-Illusion monster. If your opponent controls an Illusion monster this card can only select that card as an attack target. If this card would be destroyed by a monster's effect, it is not destroyed. You cannot designate this card as a target of your own card effects. This card can attack twice during the same Battle Phase. If this card destroys a monster as a result of battle you can return it to the top of the owner's deck.

(I am concerned this is OP'd, if so, please say where I can remove abilities. Preferably, I would not like to make it ridiculous to use)
And of course, like Toons they have their own specific card, but unlike Toons aren't destroyed when it goes. However, being a card with an actual effect, unlike Toon World, it is natural to have some form of draw-back when summoning incredibly potent monsters. In this card's case it limits the controller to Special Summoning, however there are 4 monsters which can get around this (Numbers 05 through 08, however they will be discussed later):
The controlled of this card cannot Normal Summon monsters. Field Spell cards cannot be activated whilst this card is face-up on the field. Once per turn, during your Main Phase you can pay 500 Life Points to Special Summon 1 Illusion monster from your hand. Whenever a face-up "Illusion" monster on your side of the field is destroyed you can place 1 "Illusion Counter" on this card (Max 5.) Once per turn, you can remove 1 "Illusion Counter" from this card whilst you control a face-up Illusion monster to draw 1 card. If this card would be destroyed, you can remove 1 "Illusion Counter" from it. If you do, this card is not destroyed.
The first 4 monsters range from level 8 to 5 (descending) and all have their own abilities to weaken the opponent's field:

If this card would be destroyed by a card effect that targets this card, it is not destroyed. You cannot designate this card as a target of your own card effects. This card cannot be Summoned unless you control a face-up "Illusionary Temple". If this card attacks you can select 1 monster your opponent controls. Remove that monster from play. This effect cannot be negated. This card is sent to the Graveyard during your End Phase.
This card can only attack every odd number of your turns it is face-up on the field. When this monster declares an attack, you can remove 1 monster your opponent controls from play. That monster is returned to your opponent's side of the field in the same Battle Position during your opponent's 3rd Standby Phase after it was removed.
Finally, the level 4 and lower section of the monsters, numbers 05 to 08. They are all Tuners who can only be used for Curse of Illusion, each with their own beneficial effects to either summoning Curse, or to Illusions as a whole:

I understand that some (most) of these cards have long and somewhat complicated effects, but any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Friendly bump.

Anyways, these Illusion monsters can still be destroyed by certain cards. Dark Hole, for example, does not target. How about it just plain says "This card cannot be removed from the field except by its own effect." Then it couldn't be destroyed. Anyways, it's a brand new idea, and they could be pretty overpowered. But anyways... The cards having 0 ATK and DEF? That would make the cards useless, unless you use Equip Spells or some other way that increases their ATK... BUT... Their ability stops that. What's the point of having a monster that can't do virtually anything? I see the way it destroys your opponents field (01), but it would be pretty hard to deal damage...

Because one cannot simply stab at an Illusion, it would change place, but when there is nowhere for an Illusion to move to, since cards such as Dark Hole target the whole "space" so to speak, it would be unable to avoid it. Make sense?

The reason they have 0 ATK is because they're essentially field clearance engines, to prepare for the boss monster. (Also, how would an Illusion hurt anything?)

Thanks for the points anyway, if I need to explain further just ask.

for Curse of Illusion, the effect of "If this card would be destroyed by a card effect that targets this card, it is not destroyed", if you're going to make that effect kick in as many times as you want, I wouldn't apply it to ALL card effects

I'd make it only monster effects and that's enough

I kinda had to since I was inventing a whole new sub-type. ;D

Thanks for the rate, I might add a few support options tomorrow, but I can't quite see how they'd work, since Illusion monsters don't last long anyway.

Well, I was still going for the idea that the rest of the Illusion cards had, but with how strong it is I suppose limiting it to just monster effects is a good idea.

Edit: I'll update the effect tomorrow, I don't quite have the time right now.
