Football 'Fans'

Dunno how many of you follow English Premier League football and the circus that has been the appointment of Alex McLeish as manager of Aston Villa FC. But a short summary of events...

- Alex McLeish resigns as manager of Birmingham City.
- Local rivals Aston Villa, in need of a new manager, are rumoured to be in talks with McLeish.
- Due to his previous assosiation with the club down the road, this prompts this.

...and this...

Yes, that is the work of an Aston Villa 'fan' vandalising his own club's (who he 'loves') training facilities.

- McLeish is appointed as Aston Villa's manager, prompting death threats.

Death threats? Seriously? Sadly, this doesn't seem to be an unfamiliar thing in football. Celtic manager Neil Lennon has recieved plenty from Celtic so called 'supporters' over the last few months. Referees who have the nerve to oversee Champions League games that Chelsea lose seem to get them every season.

And people do this because of their 'passion' and 'love' for their football club?

I don't think I've ever known any other sport or its followers suffer the same kind of s*** so often.

What the hell is wrong with these people? Let me get this straight, because your football club is going to appoint someone who previously worked for another football club nearby, you're justified to riot, vandalise, and send him death threats? Because of that? Really? Really!?

Discuss the gutter of society that plagues the 'beautiful' game, and I'll stop doing 'this'.

Eh?

That's not aimed at me I hope.

As for actually appointing him, yes it's bad for public relations but fair play to the chairman if he believes McLeish is genuinely the best man for the job and for not bowing down to pressure from idiots. Just let get on with the job. Say it quietly but... he might actually be a good manager.

What I love the most is that these same people will all come crawling the woodwork and call him a genius if Villa won the FA Cup or something next season.

Honestly, this is nothing compared to West Ham vs Millwall...

Bullshit.

Manchester United vs Chelsea.

Well, that doesn't look really bad... unlike the behavior of certain hockey fans.

Still kinda disheartening, though. D;

I've never watched hockey, so I wouldn't know how fans behave at games. Is it bad?

Mind you, hockey is THE most violent sport in the world, renowned for having punch ups every ten seconds. And generally at the top level, most footballers are petulant, foul mouthed cheats who lie cheat and steal, and play act to get players sent off and attack referees in numbers and generally behave pretty poorly.

Whereas cricketers are mostly - a bit of sledging aside - all 'jolly good game old chap', rugby players hit hard and fair and stick to a code of honour and actually obey the ref, and from the outside the NBA and NFL, although there is a lot of showboating, seems all very good natured. And as far as I can tell all the fans of those sports are the same way.

Anyone else seeing a subliminal pattern here?

*Watches that then remembers there was a thread here, goes and reads it*

Holy crap.

"Oh my team lost a match. Therefore I should set cars on fire and attack policemen."

f***ing morons. Thank you for showing me that Clair.

Chelsea V Barcelona champions league semi-final.

I will never forget that match....
Hated that match....mostly because I hated Chelsea for winning the EPL last season, and Barcelona for beating Manchester United in this year's Champions League final.

See what I mean?

Hate, hate, hate.

Why the hate?

Last time I went to a football match all the chants/terrace songs were all 'we f'in hate so and so team who aren't even playing in this match'?

Why can't you sing something about 'we love and support the home team'?

Would that really be so hard?

My hate is different than England's hate.

My hate: Pissed off at *insert football club here*

England's hate: Death threats, and riots.
