... i can't think of how it can be used well... but its a great idea for a card... i'm sure there isn't one like this yet...

For people to fear this card and to basically freeze the field for people who don't want to banish their cards... i think this is balanced!

May i suggest an OCG fix?:
[b]As long as this card is face-up on the field: Both you and your opponent must banish 1 monster you or your opponent controls [u]or in your respective hands[/u] to Summon or Set a monster (excluding Special Summon). The banished monster does not count as a Tribute. When this card is destroyed [u]by battle[/u]: Destroy all Level 5 or higher monsters on the field.[/b]
The underlined parts are what i added just to make sure it's balanced as best as possible...
I thought about removing the "does not count as a tribute" part... but i left it in for you... cuz you never know what kind of effects are out there... lol

Is it "Malestrom" or "Maelstrom"... o well, it doesn't matter... names are names ... and names are awesome
Anyway, i like the card... a good field-freeze card

Sorry BFG, I love your post, but with this card, i didn't want players to increase the amount of monsters on the field, and letting them discard from their hand would let this happen
oh and i messed up the name, but i'm gonna say thats how his name is spelled! *wink*

1. ok, not discarding from the hand is fine... it was optional anyway ;)
2. y thank u, thats the best news i've heard about myself in a long time lol ... and for the dots, just look at some of the new "ZEXAL" cards... Colon for giving an effect after an action and a Semi-Color for (usually) giving a multiple effect
3. as i said before... that's ok... everything i 'edit' is optional... but im glad you liked my feedback and edits :D

OCG fix:

I would say this card is pretty balanced but at times it can look fairly weak and underpowered. Especially since it has 0 ATK as well as low DEF so you would need to protect it at times. But if you ask me at least make it a Level 4 because like this you will Tribute a Monster for this card and this card would still be easy to be destroyed. I suggest either making it a LV4 or give it higher defense like 2400 or something. 6/10.

Okay but at least fix the DEF i know that the point is to take it out while they have a big monster but with a low DEF like that it really wouldn't stand a chance your opponent will destroy it and lose a big monster but you will lose 2 monsters, the one you tributed for it and this one. It's a -1 for the opponent and a -2 for you if not more. That is why i suggested the DEF increase.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you play this card when the field is empty, that would mean neither player can summon anything. I guess I understand this card if there are other monsters on the field already. Also, I can see how this would be overpowered; attach a Heart of Clear Water, and any other equip that raises ATK, and you've got yourself the game, as long as your opponent doesn't have a Spell card that can wipe the whole field or Special summon a monster. You know what I mean?

I did not think of that whatsoever! (whoopsi...) you can always destroy it with a trap hole or raigeki break, then you don't get the explosive death,aka destroying level fives or higher, I see where your coming from, and I'll try to balance it, but right now, I must sleep.
