Canadian Posted August 2, 2011 Author Report Share Posted August 2, 2011 Ryko at 1 does much more for the deck than it would if it were ran at 3. Ryko is a first turn card, meaning, you use it to set up for your next turn, to which you procede to gain advantage from some ellaborate combo. In this deck, ryko's main use is simply another card to make JD live. The best case scenerio for Ryko in an opening turn would be to set it, than play duality so you don't miss a chance at free +1's from wulf's. If your opponent has any brains at all and catches on that your using Lightsworns, any set cards instantly become ryko's. This makes them super likely to ram into them with their monsters (Especially Tengu since he'll just replace himself netting free 1700 damage). This allows the user to bluff with cards like set Necro Gardna's, or wall with Honest and Arkus. Drawing Ryko lategame is almost useless as your opponent will probably have responses to many of your plays and will most likely have a big field of their own. Taking out 1 card won't do much. I'm not saying ryko is bad. He helps in certain scenerio's where you have annoying backrows and you don't have the resources to kill them (same goes with monsters, but mostly backrows). He's also a great target to pitch with Solar since you're most likely going to summon and explode. Ryko is needed at 1 in this deck, and nothing else. (Unless you're playing the hamster/birdman/junk variant ofc). Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

They prevent you from using cards like Warning and Torrential which are so helpful this format. Furthermore, there a lot of decks that play around it; -Gold Sarc is like Ryko actually, it's a first turn card so it should be at 1. -1 Gold Sarc -3 Decrees +1 Beckoning Light/1 Monster Reincarnation +2 Solemn Warning +1 Torrential Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I have juggled around the idea for another reincarnation instead of a second sarc, but some part of me really like to have a 2-turn clock put on the game right away. That is really my preference.
