Doom_Shaman Posted August 14, 2011 Report Share Posted August 14, 2011 ok so i worked hard on this deck for a very long time. but i havnt had the time to play yugioh in a long while. the deck worked awesome at the end of last year. however im fairly certain that alot has changed int hte game since then and i understand none of it. SO any helpful tips, cards to use, staples, etc. would be much appreciated. Zauls Posted August 14, 2011 Report Share Posted August 14, 2011 I'd wait until the September banlist is confirmed. We've got a list that looks legit that involves BLS and DMoc to 1, which looks like it would help this deck, but like I say, wait until it is fully confirmed by Konami. Staple cards now are Tour Guide From the Underworld and Sangan, so you can make Rank 3 Xyzs easy as hell and get a Sangan search when it's detached. If you don't know what an Xyz monster is, here: [url="http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Xyz_Monster"]http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Xyz_Monster[/url] The Xyzs Tour Guide + Sangan go into are generally Leviair the Sea Dragon and Number 17: Leviathan Dragon. This engine works well with multiple copies of Gold Sarcophagus, to search any Level 4 or lower monster from your Deck and get a Sangan search (broken, I know). After Photon Shockwave comes out, Rescue Rabbit with be used with this engine along with Kabazauls and Sabersaurus to make Evolkaiser Ragia, which is basically a walking Solemn Judgment Xyz that needs Dinosaur materials. Plant engine stuff is also being used with Tour Guide + Reborn Tengu as well, because of the mass searchability with this engine, the massive Synchro combinations with Tengu and the fact that the Plant engine is semi-staple now (Lonefire X2, Glow-Up Bulb, Spore, Dandylion, One for One, Foolish Burial, perhaps Limit Reverse). Also, Reborn Tengu is a staple card now. As for your deck, it seems outdated and too slow to fit with this format. You will have trouble competing against the meta. It isn't a bad deck by any means, but it can't compete in this meta. Decks can recover better than your own against a Norleras nuke. You are only actually missing Giant Trunade in terms of staples, which you can take Cold Wave out for as it is banned. Goyo should be replaced with Orient Dragon. Unfortunately, because of the price of some Xyz monsters and Tour Guide, it won't be easy to compete without spending a ton of cash, unless you want to build Agent Angel, which doesn't need Tour Guides and can be made from 3 Structure Decks and 2 Kristyas (which are getting reprinted as a super in a tin). The only thing you could do to compete today is to redesign the deck. 95% of decks these days are running Tour Guide and Tengu and loads are using the Plant engine. I would suggest making a deck around those. To start, check out make thred titled Generic.dek, which is basically the deck that defines this format and almost every card in it is staple/semi-staple. Then you can add tech choices like more DARK monsters to run DAD or something like that. Doom_Shaman Posted August 16, 2011 Author Report Share Posted August 16, 2011 wow thnx for all the help. lol i see that this format is horrible. ill work in the cards you said and i bet i can find some substitutes for others that would run in the deck better. im not soooo cuncerned with keeping up with meta, more like keeping my dark deck current and as good as possible. i was kindof hoping after being gone for so long the game would be LESS cookie cutter, not more sadly its this TCG's greatest failing. either way thank you for yout help, its much appreciated. ill work on a revamp with some of the cards you said.
