Man, was moving hard. After my parents divorce, stuff sure got scary- custody, visitation, and all of that crap. In the end I would be living with my mom, so naturally I had moved all of my stuff in with her. Well, almost everything. I left my dusty-green Nintendo 64 at my dads- it was my very first game system, and man, has she been through alot. Dented in the back, and chips of plastic broken off from abuse. It still worked like a charm, and that was all that mattered to me.
So, it's sunday, which means I was going going to visit my dad for the week. Hell yeah, time to play some Ocarina! That game had been on my mind for a week now, and I could now play it without distractions from my computer or my 360. Man, did I have plans- I swore to myself that I would beat this game in the time I was there.
So, I arrive at my dads. My mother kisses me goodbye and says she loves me. Typical mother stuff, ya know? I walk up to my porch and knock. No answer- as was expected. My dad works for the Navy, and is usually out on his job til maybe 8 or 9. No problem, I had a key. I open the door and head upstairs towards my room- it was nearly empty. A lone carpet on a wood floor, a loft bed, and a small plasma screen with cables jutting out of the back. Next to my plasma screen sat my favorite console to date- My "Jungle Green" Donkey-Kong edition Nintendo 64. Boy, was I ready to play. Pokemon Snap was in it- when was the last time I played that? I took it out and threw it into my box full of '64 games. I spotted a couple of interesting ones that I had forgotten about; Majora's Mask, Mario Kart, Castlevania, Pokemon Stadium 2, Goldeneye- the whole lot. I rumbled through them until I got to the bottom; there it was, a god among gods- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
I popped that sucker in my N64 and flipped the power switch. The screen went black, as if it were loading the game. Nothing happened. I sighed, then laughed. This was a cartridge game- you had to blow the dust out of them if you even wanted to think of playing them! I took the game out eyed the bottom. Quite a bit of dust had collected down there, no wonder it didn't work! I blew into it and popped it back in. Again, a black screen for a few seconds- then the most startling thing happened... Glitchy noises.
Damnit! I was so looking forwards to- wait, what's this? The game had skipped the sequence with Link riding Epona through the field and was at the File Select screen. A bit odd, but alright. My files weren't even there, either- Just an empty slot and a savegame that went by the name of "spin". I was curious, but shrugged it off- my brother may have been playing the game. I loaded the new game, entered my name as Origin, and went on to play the game.
The game played magnificently! Never had I seen a game for the 64 play this smoothly. A wave of nostalgia washed over me. I was quite happy. The Deku Tree, Dodongo's Cavern, Jabu Jabu... Time flew. There was an oddity, though. In Kakariko, there was no well- only a sign in its place with glitchy-error text. That confused me, but I shrugged it off thinking that it would load up correctly when I went there as an adult.
I retrieved the Ocarina from the moat and happily wandered into the temple of time. I took hold of the Master Sword and time flew-Link was now a badass adult with a tunic. The great sage gave his little speech, and then sent me off into the world. It was time to get to business.
First stop was Kakariko Village. Man, had it changed- I didn't remember half of the things that were in it now! There was no front gate, nor was there a tree. The old guy sitting in front of the now-gone tree was there, but he wouldn't talk. I ran over to where the well was- and yes, it was there, but filled with water. I started walking towards the Windmill, and instantly that theme started playing in my head. It was a beautiful theme, I always had a special place in my heart for it. I walked into the windmill, head filled with memories of it.
The windmill was all I had ever dreamed it as- The theme played, but something was odd. The windmill guy was on the first floor, and not the second- hadn't he been up top in the middle? I ran up to him and pressed the A button- then, the screen went black.
Sighing, I hit the reset button. The game had apparently froze. This time it started up perfectly, nothing out of place now. I went to the File Select screen, and everything was tinted red. My file, and the spin file, were both there. I started to get curious- what was in the spin file? I loaded it up, and I was in the same position I had last been in before the game had crashed last time- in the windmill, in front of the creepy music box man. I attempted to talk to him again- this time, a cutscene started.
The camera went to an angle where I couldn't see Link or that creepy guy. A text box popped up, and I read it, slightly paranoid.
"Do you know why it rains?" The windmill guy asked. "Do you know why!? To wash away the fears of the people." I started laughing- what kind of speech was that? I walked out of the windmill, wondering what that was all about. Apparently, it was raining in-game. I started walking towards the outer edge of the village when another text box showed up.
"But what if it stops raining?" Said the mysterious text box. "What if that fear could not be washed away?"
The rain stopped, and the windmill theme started playing, but at an extremely fast tempo- This was starting to creep me the hell out. Then the screen went black, and so did my room. A power outage! I checked my watch, and noticed that it was 4 in the morning. Had time really passed that quickly? I looked out the window to see that it was now pouring down rain- I must've been really into it to not notice that. I crawled in bed and went to sleep.
I had an extremely weird dream that night. I had dreamed that the world had flooded, and I was the last human to survive. All through the dream I could only hear one thing- That damn windmill theme! As I sat on that last patch of land, soaked and alone, it started to storm. The song got faster and faster, and my heart started to race. White hands popped out of the water surrounding me, reaching for me- I woke up and screamed. The power was on, and my room was bright. I checked my watch- it was 11. I looked out my window to see that it was still raining, but shrugged it off as a coincidence. I went downstairs, and assuming my father had already left for work, got a hot pocket and carried it up to my room. I ate, took my dish back downstairs, and cleaned it- but water didn't run from the faucet. It was bone dry. I set my dish on the counter and remembered my dad forgot to pay the water bill. I ran up to my room again and looked at my 64. It was wet. I gasped and rushed to it- how did this happen? Could my room have leaked during the night? I looked towards the roof directly above it, but nothing was odd about it. I panicked and flipped the switch, turning on the 64. It still worked! Thank god. I picked up the controller, putting my hands into those familiar positions, and started up Ocarina of Time.

Little did I know of the horrors I would soon face.

The game loaded, but the title screen was a complete mess. Epona's poor head was bent backwards, and there was no "Legend of Zelda" logo. Everything was missing a texture, except for Link and Epona- Epona had her normal texture, but Link... Link was a different story. The texture that was applied to his skin was the texture of the White Hands, if I remembered correctly. Bone white splattered with streaks of red... but his facial features and clothing texture was still retained.

That is, except for the eyes. His eyes were pitch black, as if they were hollow. It was horrifying.

The wierdest thing, though, was that as he rode on through the title screen, his face remained fixated towards the camera, as if he were staring at me. Suddenly, a laughing sound played (It was very familiar, could it be the laugh of a poe?) And the screen went black- again.

I had had enough of this. I shut off the game system and threw the cartridge out of my window, into the rain.

I went downstairs and flipped on the television- the news was on, and apparently there was a story of somebody drowning.

"His eyes were cut out," Said the reporter, "And he was drowned. We have images here- we recommend you turn away if you are squeamish."

My eyes were fixated on the television.

The images were of my father, body bloated with skin bone-white and streaks of blood across his uniform.

Worst of all, the eyes were hollow.

I heard someone laugh, and the power went out.

It was still raining.

And still playing.

This would be posted in Fan-Fic, actually, despite it not being about a series.

I just thought of it as you are a fan of your mind, and this is some fiction from your mind.

Anyway, good read. Probably would've been easier for me to understand if I ever played Ocarina of Time...I know, it's sad.

[EDIT] Friggin ninjas.

Yeah, I thought about posting it there, but it was called Fan Fiction.

And General's description says talk about anything here but if I made a thread about Harry Potter it'd be locked. YCMaker's too lazy to change the names/descriptions of forums.

True. But, since I did not know of a place to post this, I have posted it here. If a mod sees this, it will be dealt with according to their own accord.

Were you not banned for sockpuppeting?

See its people like you that get people like me banned. Two people living at the same adress does not mean one person has two bodies.

anyway im sorry aboutur dad
It isn't real, but it was written during a thunderstorm... and he is a naval officer. And my parents did get a divorce. And he does work very late. And I do occasionally visit him. And all I have at his place is a N64.

Half the story is true, actually.

._.

Didn't think about that.
