Violent Cartoons (A Toon-centred deck)

Recommended Posts

Yo. This is my ideal deck, a Toon Deck that I constructed in my spare time.

You: "Wow, Toon, eh? Talk about old school."
Me: "I know. I got into Yu-Gi-Oh! in its early days, and I left at around the same time. I only got back into it about a year ago, and I'm nowhere near as passionate about it as I was before, so I struggle to make/use modern decks involving specialised cards (Six Samurai, Lightsworn, etc.) or Syncro/Xyz monsters."
You: "Wha, don't you know how to use them?"
Me: "Of course, I know about them well. But I'm not used to using them consistently, so until I become more into the series, I'm sticking with old school."

Without further ado:
Toon Alligator
Red Archery Girl
Gemini Elf

Toon Mermaid x 3
Toon Summoned Skull x 3
Blue Eyes Toon Dragon
Manga Ryu-Ran
Giant Germ x 3
Card Guard (Side)
Nobleman-Eater Bug
Toon World x 3
Toon Table of Contents x 3
Forbidden Chalice
Inferno Reckless Summon
Magic Reflector
Soul Exchange x 2
Scapegoat
Toon Defence

Dark Bribe
Trap Hole x 2
Bottomless Trap Hole
Mirror Force
Judgement of Anubis x 2
Waboku x 2
Enchanted Javelin
Skill Drain
Solemn Wishes
Total: 60 cards

Side:
Card Guard
Gift of the Mystical Elf
Raigeki Break
Giant Trunade (Double Check if it's forbidden or not?)

Looking at this, I can find at least 3 problems with this.

1 - There are too many cards, period. I tried really hard to keep it slightly less, maybe 50 cards, but I couldn't decide what cards I needed less than which others.
2 - The Monster:Magic ratio is extremely askew. I have nearly twice as many Spell and Traps as Monsters, which may be a hinderance to me rather than a help.
3 - Although it's a Toon Deck, it probably relies far too much on this aspect, leaving few alternatives.

If possible, can I get this deck rated and/or criticised? And if you want, I can provide reasoning as to why certain cards are in if some of the decisions look screwed.
Thanks YCM community!

It's really all over the place.

http://forum.yugiohc...-sept-11-toons/ (just replace the Tour Guides with anything you want due to new ruling)

This is a fairly consistent build. Your's suffers from the same thing most new to the competitive game do. You try to do to much with your deck and it makes it worse as a whole. Which is the reason you can't get it to 40, you try to counter everything your opponent could do, instead of trying to win before they get a chance to do anything.

Due to this being your IRL deck I won't trash it, but just know that you are using a lot of outclassed/garbage/random cards.

I hope you take this post seriously, and in a friendly way. Good luck ^-^

1. Stop playing every single Toon card you can find at 1. Just play the best of the lot and play them at 3.
2. Play staples. i.e. cards that are pretty much NEEDED in a deck.
3. Get to 40 cards.

A quick sample build:

3 Toon Gemini Elf
3 Toon Mermaid
3 Toon Summoned Skull
3 Effect Veiler
2 Tour Guide from the Underworld
1 Sangan
1 Dark Armed Dragon
1 Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning

3 Toon Table of Contents
3 Toon World
3 Mystical Space Typhoon
3 Pot of Duality
1 Dark Hole
1 Monster Reborn
1 Heavy Storm

2 Solemn Warning
2 Mind Crush
1 Solemn Judgment
1 Torrential Tribute
1 Trap Dustshoot
1 Call of the Haunted

Missing..
Dandylion, Emergency Provisions, Dopplewarrior(50/50), Genex Ally Birdman, and much more..

Thoughts upon the deck within the Main 1st post.
Stopped reading at Toon Alligator
Toon Alligator is not in anyway a Toon monster, never has been, never will be.
It's not even in the Archetype-Table of Toons T.T

The only reason Duality didn't become staple before reprints was its price. You have no outs, you play it, you can claw your way back, you have outs, you keep it in hand.

Toons can pull off Mind Crush well against certain decks, simply because it's the easiest way to keep your advantage.

Tour Guide still makes an instant 2500 ATK beatstick. If you want, you can use Sangan for something else anyway.

Veiler is kinda compulsory at 3 this format because of all the boss monsters.

Duality was explained.

Although, the things you suggested are pretty good. Birdman and Emergency Provisions are pretty good here.

Although, the things you suggested are very needed. Birdman and Emergency Provisions are extremely needed for a competitive Toon deck.

Fixed. Emergency Provisions is one of the most important cards within a Toon deck.
