gimmepie
Basically for the majority of these cards I took an animal from the Chinese zodiac, based it's name off of a personality trait I associate with the animal and based the effect off of the name. The others are support cards. Effect: When this card is destroyed return it to the field on your next turn if there is an available space. Tribute one monster on your side of the field in order to increase the ATK of this card by 200 points. If you take damage greater than 1000 points, from one attack, during your opponents battle phase increase this cards attack by 500 points. Effect: When this card is destroyed return it to the field on your next turn if there is an available space. Once per turn you can remove one "Illusory Spirit" from play in order to increase the attack of this card by 300 points. When this card is sent to the graveyard return all "Illusory Spirit" monsters that have been removed from play to your deck, then shuffle your deck. Effect: When this card is destroyed return it to the field on your next turn if there is an available space. As long as this card remains face-up on the field your opponent must show you the card they pick up in the draw phase. Effect: When this card is destroyed return it to the field on your next turn if there is an available space. When this card is in the defence position deal 700 points of direct damage to your opponent during your battle phase. Effect: When this card is destroyed return it to the field on your next turn if there is an available space. This card cannot attack your opponent directly. When this card destroys a card in the defence position the difference between the ATK of this card and the DEF of the destroyed card is subtracted from your opponents life points. Effect: When this card is destroyed return it to the field on your next turn if there is an available space. When ever this card deals life point damage to your opponent add the amount of the damage done to your life points. Effect: When this card is destroyed return it to the field on your next turn if there is an available space. During your main phase you may put this card on your opponents side of the field in face-up attack position. If this card is destroyed whilst on your opponents side of the field return it to your own side of the field with it's effect, not your opponents. Effect: When this card is destroyed return it to the field on your next turn if there is an available space. If there is another "Illusory Spirit" monster on the field you can special summon this card. This card can attack twice during your battle phase. Effect: When this card is destroyed return it to the field on your next turn if there is an available space. Discard a spell from your hand and draw two cards, if either is another "Illusory Spirit" you can special summon it. Effect: When this card is destroyed return it to the field on your next turn if there is an available space. Control of this card cannot be shifted to your opponent. Whilst this card is face-up all other "Illusory Spirit" cards gain 500 ATK points. Effect: When this card is destroyed return it to the field on your next turn if there is an available space. Once per turn, during your main phase, you can tribute another card in order to add this cards ATK points to your life points. Effect: When this card is destroyed return it to the field on your next turn if there is an available space. This card is unaffected by your opponents spell and trap cards. Effect: Treat this card as a card with "Illusory Spirit" in it's name. When this card is destroyed and sent to the graveyard draw two cards. If either is an "Illusory Spirit" place it in the graveyard and special summon it next turn if their is an available space. Effect: Each player returns every card on their side of the field and in their hand to their deck and then shuffles their deck. Each player then draws a new hand. If their is an "Illusory Spirit" other than "Illusory Spirit Courageous" in either players hand they may special summon it to the field. Effect: Pay 800 life points in order to special summon one "Illusory Spirit Courageous" from your hand or deck, then shuffle your deck. The "Illusory Spirit Courageous" Summoned by this effect gains 500 ATK and DEF points. When this card is destroyed return the "Illusory Spirit Courageous" to your deck and re-shuffle your deck. Effect: You may only activate this card if you control an "Illusory Spirit" monster. Select an opponents monster and reduce it's attack points by 1000. Effect: Return all "Illusory Spirit" cards that have been removed from play to your deck, then shuffle your deck. Effect: Equip this card to a monster with "Illusory Spirit" in it's name. The equipped monster gains 1000 attack and defence points. When a monster equipped with this card is destroyed return the destroyed monster to your hand instead. Effect: Select one "Illusory Spirit" from your hand or deck and shuffle your deck. Treat this card as the selected "Illusory Spirit" until your end phase. At the end of your turn remove this card from play. Effect: When your opponent targets an "Illusory Spirit" on your side of the field with a spell or trap card negate that card and remove it from play. If the effect of this is successful deal 200 points of direct damage to your opponent for each "Illusory Spirit" on the your side of the field. Effect: Whilst this card remains on the field all "Illusory Spirit" monsters gain 200 attack points. Once per turn you can banish an "Illusory Spirit" in order to special summon another "Illusory Spirit" other than the one banished from your hand. Destroy this card to special summon one banished "Illusory Spirit" to the field. Effect: Return all "Illusory Spirit" monsters on the field to your deck then shuffle your deck. Destroy all other cards on the field. Effect: Select a LIGHT monster from your deck and banish it, then shuffle your deck, this cards attack and defence now equal that of the selected monster. This card is treated as the selected monster, if the selected monster has an effect this card can use the same effect as that card. Effect: Equip this to a monster that is not an "Illusory Spirit". The equipped monster is now counted as an "Illusory Spirit". When the equipped card is targeted for an attack destroy this card to negate the attack. Effect: When this card is destroyed return it to the field on your next turn if there is an available space. One per turn return up to two cards to your deck. For each monster returned you may select a monster of the same level and put it in your hand. For each spell or trap returned you may select another spell or trap. After using this effect shuffle your deck. Effect: When this card is destroyed return it to the field on your next turn if there is an available space. Effect: Activate when your opponent declares an attack, banish a LIGHT monster from your graveyard to negate the monsters attack and destroy it, then set this card again. ragnarok1945
for Cunning, you may want to change the effect the effect you have right now isn't too much different from the card Mind on Air
gimmepie
for Cunning, you may want to change the effect the effect you have right now isn't too much different from the card Mind on Air
I've never even heard of Mind on Air, but I'll take that into consideration. Due you have any suggestions for an effect that fits with Cunning because I can't really think of any others. Apart from that do you think this set is any good? ragnarok1945
basically Mind on AIr forces your opponent to play with his/her hand revealed the whole time so you can see the similarity to it
gimmepie
Yeah I see the similarity but I think it an effect well suited for the name Cunning. If any other fitting suggestions come up I'm all ears.

raaabr
Having lived in china for the past 9 years, i must say, your zodiac cards are looking pretty good. though i have no idea what animal excitement is.

raaabr
Ah. That would make much more sense. That means you have all of them!
gimmepie
Yup. Do you think the names match the animal well enough?
raaabr
Well, in chinese mythology, the dragon was cunning. It tricked the rooster by taking its horns through a deal. I'm not quite sure the mouse is industrious, either. He hitched a ride on the ox's back when he forded a river, then jumped off and ran to the finish line first. Add to that the fact that the mouse betrayed his then friend the cat, by not waking him up in time for the race, i think the mouse is more of a traitorous kind of person. The rest is quite accurate. gimmepie
I should probably clarify that the names aren't just based off of Chinese mythology. I called the Dragon courageous due to other mythology and my own perception. The rat is industrious because Rats are the only animal found on every continent including Antarctica (they stowaway on boats and then live in research facilities) and because of how they adapt to all these environments easily. The snake is Cunning because a) they are slippery and because of the Christian bible. Thank you for the input though.

gimmepie
On this forum I'm sure most people do. Do you have any suggestions for more support?
raaabr
Maybe add a field spell "Race of the Zodiacs" Which allows you to add from your deck one Illusionary spirit in return for banishing another.
gimmepie
Good idea, I think I need to point out that the "theme" is a combination or illusions and the Chinese Zodiac... and that the theme leans towards illusions over the zodiac. Maybe call it "Zodiac Illusion"?
raaabr
I think thats a good idea too. Also, try something like: Dispel illusion, which destroys all illusion monsters on the field, then inflicts damage or lets you draw cards. Or go to the other extreme and try cast illusion, which would summon lots of illusion monsters, at a cost. (Maybe they lose their effect)
gimmepie
There is already a card with a swarm capability in the set (Illusory Warrior) and Battle Illusion is similar to that idea. But I like the first idea.New Card added
raaabr
Nice to see you have added that card. And which idea would the first be. Dispel illusion?
gimmepie
Yeah, I'm tweaking some ideas around that right now and will have it up at some point. @ raaabr the burn arch you were interested in is up. Does anybody have any more suggestions?

ragnarok1945
"Once per turn you can banish an "Illusory Spirit" in order to special summon another "Illusory Spirit" other than the one banished" In that case only this part is somewhat OPed might want to be more specific on the summoned Illusory Spirit monster
gimmepie
I'll do that now. Edit: Zodiac Illusion edited. New Cards: Released Illusion and Dark Reflectionist
ragnarok1945
Released Illusion is still Oped because it only requires one such monster to pull the effect off, while you get to nuke your opponent's field completely Dark Reflectionist isn't anything new, just siphons everything from another monster
