Akira
This Vietnamese guy who lives in our flat at Uni gave me some charm keyrings and hand painted bookmarks from his home country to my girlfriend and I, then wished us the best in our relationship. I was surprised by this since I've only known him for a couple of weeks, but was very thankful for the kind gesture nonetheless. Is this a tradition in Vietnamese culture? I know he's in a similar long term relationship, perhaps he just likes to see other successful couples as it gives him hope, I don't know. Discuss any interesting cultural customs you've encountered either at home or abroad.
Umbra
Just based on personal experience, Vietnamese people in general seem very kind and generous. Perhaps something we all could learn from. Spending a year away from my home country has really changed how I view it. Not for the worse, no, but I see all the things I used to take for granted in a new light. I knew that Allsång was a Swedish tradition, but I knew it only in the sense that a person from Tahiti would know that snow is cold - I didn't really know until then.
