Konami's rulings be trippin' [/quote] Technically, it makes perfect sense. If Skill Drain negated not only the effect, but also the cost, it would make sense, but in this case it wouldn't. It works like this. Stardust's COST is payed upon the field. Even with Skill Drain, costs can be paid. Stardust's EFFECT activates in the Graveyard, and since Skill Drain can't negate effects that weren't activated by monsters face-up on the field, it can't negate Stardust. The cost and the effect are completely different things. On a similar note, since Skill Drain affects only face-up monsters, if you chain Book of Moon to your monster's effect, it resolves properly.
