ITT: Gus tries to write a feature

It was on his blog, but I'm not one to advertise so I'm c&ping

Hey guys! Someone was telling me how hard it is to write a good featured match recently so I decided to take my hand at it. Note that I do not know either player, but their Dueling Network names were Yh and Rakea. Without further ago let us begin!

The duel opens with the classic game of Rock-Paper-Scissors which I sadly missed but from what I can tell Yh seems to have skillfully outplayed Rak because he ended up choosing to go first. I believe he chose the rock because it's the most powerful of the three, but it really could have been anything.

Yh: 8000

Rakea: 8000

Yh opens with what seems to be a very risky move, setting four cards right off the bat. Now this play seems to tell us he must have some form of protection set because risking losing everything to a Heavy Storm would be a bad play and Yh seems much too smart for that. Then he makes a really interesting move, summoning the Inzektor Hornet in attack mode! That is not something you see often, especially because he proceeds to end his turn after that. On the other hand, with a four card back row we can predict that he has something up his sleeve.

Rakea then begins his turn by playing the field spell card Necrovalley. He then asks if Yh for a response quite persistenly which is odd, but seeing his next play it makes sense. Rakea continues his move by banishing a Stardust Dragon to summon the Malefic Stardust Dragon. To this summon, Yh plays one of his many face down cards, Bottomless Trap Hole, which then banishes the Malefic Stardust Dragon before Rakea has the chance to even use it!

While this seems like a set back, Rakea had another move up his sleeve, bringing out Beast King Barbaros, which as some people will tell you is bad. I believe the trouble is that it wastes a Normal Summon on something with only 1900 ATK unless you have Skill Drain or something. Of course with 3 set cards from Yh still, we can expect another trap to be unleashed and we are not disappointed. Yh plays a second Bottomless Trap Hole! With this Rakea is out of options and is forced to set two cards before ending his turn.

At this point, it seems quite clear that Yh has the upper hand in the duel despite the fact that all that has happened so far is two pieces of one for one removal. This is because almost every Malefic deck you see will run a low monster count meaning that eliminating two monsters straight away quite possibly means that Rakea has none left in his hand. Further more, it is now Yh's turn and Rakea has nothing but a few face downs to protect himself!

Yh starts his turn by drawing a card which turns out to be Wind-Up Rat when he summons it right away. Rakea was ready for this and right away plays Skill Drain, costing him 1000 life points. His reaction is so fast we can infer that he must have had his mouse just waiting to click it. Recovering from this blow quickly, Yh overlays his two level 3 monsters to summon Number 30: Acid Golem the Destruction. With it he attacks directly dealing 3000 damage to Rakea's life points. Yh then ends his turn with the two backrow from before.

Yh: 8000

Rakea: 4000

Rakea then begins his turn by banishing a Cyber End Dragon from his extra deck to summon theMalefic Cyber End Dragon with a powerful 4000 ATK. This move proves to be futile as Yh flips another of his back row, revealing the Solemn Warning which negates the summon of Malefic Cyber End Dragon before it even hits the field. Rakea set's the last card in his hand before passing.

Yh: 6000

Rakea: 4000

Yh draws and immediately summons the Marauding Captain he just drew. It's effect is negated by Skill Drain but he ignores that and enters his Battle Phase immediately. He attacks the face down monster with his 1200 ATK Marauding Captain. The face down is flipped and turns out to beGravekeeper's Commandant. At this point Yh proves he is really bad at math. Commandant has 2000 DEF thanks to a boost from Necrovalley. At first Yh deducts 500 life points, but Rakea corrects him to say that he needed to lose 800 total. In response Yh subs another 100 life points. Finally after another reminder by Rakea he loses 200 more. Back to the game at hand, Yh then destroys Commandant with Acid Golem and ends his turn.

Yh: 5400

Rakea: 4000

Rakea draws and then after seeing his card he admits defeat making Yh the victor! While summoning Hornet first turn seems to be a questionable move, in the end it turns out to have helped him win the game. A powerful back row from turn one made it impossible for Rakea to make any moves and so Yh was destined to win. I didn't bother with Game 2/3 because this was only a test of my abilities. Comment down below about how I did! Thanks for reading.

also he got it wrong

I wasn't telling him how hard it was to write a feature, I was telling him that his features would be worse than mine.
