Hell, I seem to recall a LOT of threads from before this format saying that Heavy was bad for the game. Then 2 or 3 threads came up, saying it was good for the game. Most people flamed them. When you have slower formats, Heavy is definitely better for the game. In fast OTK formats, neither Giant Trunade nor Heavy Storm are good cards, but a mass sweeper is important for the game and Heavy is still better (even if it is going to be abused a lot in fast formats).
