Regionals Report

Yeah, so I decided to get back on this site. I think I have the patience to stay on for more than about 3 days this time. My deck got raped by the banlist so I put it in the folder and played burn.

Pretty good regionals, about 150 players, with quite a few good ones, UK nats champion was there and a few other good, quite famous players. Shame Leipzig stole a good chunk of them :/

Ok, let's get on with the report.

Round 1 (Samurai)

1: This guy is pretty bad. He makes, Shi En, summons Grandmaster, and gets Lava Golemed straight away. After that he's left with 2 cards, and one's a Magatama. I win with stuff.

2: He makes first-turn Barkion, makes beast and Grandmaster next turn, I can do nothing, he has 4 counters on Gateway and chooses to search Irou because he knows I have Marshmallon in hand, rather than Kizan. I Lava Golem his Beast and Barkion and he can't do anything to my 5 backrows, even with Irou for my Marshmallon (I ceasefire and flip it face-up)

Round 2 (Rabbit)

1: I have chain energy from turn 1, I Lava Golem his Laggia and Dollka then win late game with Chain Energy.

2: I rivalry his 2 Guaiba, I survive for a while but he then tops MST. The game ends with me having 2 Chain Energy and Wave-Motion, and he has a Laggia. He is on 4000 to my 1200. I choose to pop off Wave-Motion for 3000, putting him on 1000, so he can't do anything from hand. I then set Stealth Bird but pay 1000, I tank 1 hit with Laggia but then he wins next turn. If I had kept Wave-Motion for 1 more turn I'd have won

3: He flips decree

Round 3 (Archfiend, playing Jurracs)

1: He makes Black Rose on my 6-card field, I try and bounce back but he then storms and leaves my with nothing.

2: He storms again but this time I have bribe and proceed to win. After the game he shows me the warning that would have negated the Starlight.

3: I again bribe his Storm. I also flip rivalry on his Dino and Guaiba so he can't make Black Rose. He can't really get over Rivalry and I kill him with Stealth birds and stuff.

Round 4 (Evols, playing Caius)

1: This guy has Tourguides but doesn't seem to have Laggia. After surpising me by dropping Caius, he has 2 Guaiba but doesn't seem to want to make Laggia, so next turn I activate Swords and win.

2: I rivalry his 2 Dinos, but he Dark Holes them, then summons Sangan, then drops Caius (he's a fiend), hitting Rivalry. He can't do much after that though and I win.

Round 5 (Rabbit)

1: I win with double Just Desserts

2: He flips Decree. I try and hide behind a Reaper but he makes Trish with Veiler and wins.

3: He makes Grenosaurus and Laggia really fast and I can't really get over that. My hand isn't great anyway.

Round 6 (TG)

1: He flips Skill Drain on my Stealth Bird, it's still not too bad as I Lava Golem his Striker and Barbaros, which then attacks into a Cylinder, and along with the 1k from Skill Drain I toll him for game.

2: He can summon Tengu, but can't do much after that. This is by far one of my best matchups.

Round 7 (Agent)

1: He has Earth and Venus, pays 1500 (o.O), and goes into Ancient Sacred Wyvern and Gachi, followed by a Hyperion. I Fiendish Chain the Hyperion, and then Lava Golem Wyvern and Gachi next turn and win. Don't think this guy has Trish.

2: I put him back a turn with Maxx C but next turn he has 2 Hyperion and I can't win.

3: The game peters out into a situation where he doesn't want to attack but I don't have room for backrows, in the end he tops a storm which I bribe, then proceed to play Wave-Motion for game.

I guess 5-2 at a regionals with burn isn't bad, ended up coming 26th. However, I now have an intense hate for bunnies.
