This card is treated as a Normal Monster while it is in your Deck.
This one's pretty self explanatory as far as why I made it. I've been playing with Lavals somewhat lately, trying to get better with the Deck as a whole, and I think that by including this, you give Lavals a balanced, effective monster that is still a Rekindling target, but allows you to use Rescue Rabbit in the Deck, and quickly go into Lavalval Chain or Daigusto Emeral.

Just an option. Yeah, I know it's simple, but sometimes simple is better.

it is a simple effect, Star

don't really see anything wrong with it while it's in the deck, but before I go any further into the rating, please answer me as to why you didn't give it an effect once it gets onto the field
I guess I'd have to say balance, really. The fact that it's got 1900 ATK already, and is a Rekindling target, definitely makes it worth considering as something for Lavals to run. As a matter of fact, it might actually be better than Magma Cannoneer in some respects, though I'm not an expert on the Deck so I can't really say for sure. There's not much you could give it for an effect that would keep it balanced.

how? The Cannoneer does 500 burn to your opponent, yours doesn't
This is true, however, Cannoneer has 200 less ATK, which is actually significant because it gets taken out by Rai-Oh, Kizan, and some other things. With this having more ATK, it can go toe-to-toe with more things. I'm just not sure how much of an effect you could give it without breaking it.

well the point is that despite the burn power, 500 isn't really THAT much

at 1900, you're right, there's not many level 4 monsters than can beat it

what you could do is maybe get it to help Cannoneer or something

you can say something along the lines of if this is face up on the field and you have a Cannoneer monster, the burn is increased from 500 to 1000

I[s]'ll make it a Reborn Tengu-like effect that replaces itself[/s]

Nah, I'm not sure. I might actually want to make some changes to it, but I just don't know what balanced changes you could make to it that would actually make the card any more or less playable.

Well I only suggested that because it's not really PROTECTING Cannoneer or anything like that, it's just boosting the burn slightly

I think, if I'm not mistaken, he wonders why you don't just make it a normal monster?

What benefit or detriment is it to have the card be considered an effect monster in all other cases?
First of all, long time no see. You probably don't remember me, but I remember you as one of a few good pals from when I first joined back in '07. Feels like it's throwback month with some people coming back already. How've ya been?

In that case, I'm not really sure. Like I said, it's definitely possible to add an effect. One I had been considering was:
When this card leaves the field: You can send 1 "Laval" monster from your Deck to the Graveyard, except "Laval Phoenix".
I'd suggest just making it a Normal Monster. After all, making it a Rabbit Target AND giving it an effect is kind of...Overkill-ish. I mean, a Rabbit-targeted effect monster is like...Like...An Inferno Reckless/Limit Reverse target that hits 2000+ ATK when it hits the field.

Plus, making it a 'nilla would allow you to explain why it looks like a high-tech machine and is in space.

vanillas are a bit too boring though
Meet Rabbit for like, the yatallionth time.

Vanillas AREN'T boring anymore. If you have the required writing skills, vanilla lore can be more exciting than a useless effect.
