It has come to my attention that within the past few months that people believe that I have become even more of a prick than I already was, and although I'd love to say they're wrong, looking back I can't say that. I'm making this in RC because of a certain someone who frequents this section whom I have become pissed at for small reasons.

This is essentially an apology thread to those I've been a dick to. I've just now noticed this problem and will now work to fix it. Being a moderator hasn't helped, and I figured something similar would happen, but I'm going to attempt to fix my ways and still work here at YCM.

So to all those who understand this message, I apologize. To those who do not, you don't need to worry.

Also to note, I will be lessening my Skype time as it has seemed to consume most of my time, and doesn't exactly help much at all when I frequently talk to people voice to voice and get pissed.

Anyway, that's it for this so I'll start the actual topic.
Now for the custom cards. Today I'd like to bring your attention to a certain card that I like:

Looking at the effect of the above card you can see that it's paying 2000 Life Points for a Pot of Greed. 2 cards is amazing, and 2000 Life Points is a pretty fair price, so why doesn't this get used?

Simple: It requires you to run Life Point gain, and most (if not all) cards of such a category are bad.

Let's take some examples:
Draining Shield
Trap Card
Negate the attack of 1 of your opponent's monsters and gain Life Points equal to it's attack.

So this is a decent Life Point gain card that also stops a monsters attack. Why isn't it good? Because Mirror Force and Dimensional Prison exist and actually get rid of the opponent's monsters. This just stops them for a turn and nets you a -1 advantage. I don't know about you but I'd rather get rid of the threat then delay the inevitable.

Rainbow Life
Trap Card
Discard 1 card. Until the end of this turn whenever you would take Damage you gain that amount of Life Points instead.

Now this can net you quite a lot of Life gain from direct attacks, so it seems decent on paper. Now let's rip that paper apart. First off, unlike the bad Draining Shield, this doesn't stop the attack, just reverse the damage. So it doesn't even save monsters. On top of that, it nets you a -2 because of the discard. And even in Fableds (inb4black) it's a -1 that still lets your opponent run over monsters. All in all Draining Shield is better, and we already explained how that's bad.

Dian Keto the Cure Master
Spell Card
Gain 1000 Life Points.

Now if you don't know why this is bad, I don't know what to say. It does nothing for you other than Life Gain. It's a -1 like Draining but it doesn't even stop anything, it just goes off and dies without leaving any mark on your opponent.
So we need cards to make Life Gain plausible, and I've gone through the effort to attempt that. I shall include the cards now and explanations, each in their own spoiler.
Now before I get the "OMG SPIRIT REAPER OMOSAHGONSIUVANSFHAHFAHSDFIU!!!!" comments, let me say that I don't see much an EARTH/Spellcaster can be abused for that a DARK/Zombie can. The type and Attribute combination have little support together compared to what Dark and Zombie each have separately. I gave it the extra 200 ATK to give it some kind of leg up on Reaper, but I honestly don't see this doing much compared to it. If you can prove me wrong then please do.

Oh, and it goes without saying you pick whether it's ATK or DEF.

Ok this one I'm worried about. It's D-Prison (which is a good attack stopper) but with a bonus. Hell, it's gonna feel good banishing their boss monster then gaining a bunch of Life Points. I just really want to use this idea rather than scrap it so if you can think of anything please tell me.
Well that's it for giant wall of text that is split up into spoilers. Tried to make it as readable as possible though. I'll shut up now ^-^.

I don't think you've been a jerk. Even if you have, your willing to fix it, and thats what matters. As for the cards. Where did you find those pics they are amazing.
Jazin Kay.

And I'm kind of more worried about the effects than the pics.

And you and I don't talk much so of course you don't think that.

For example number 3 wouldnt Poison of the Old Man be a better example, but yeah something like this is really balanced support as if you draw it later game it can mess you over and you probably would need to run Summoner Monk incase it becomes dead in your hand. And there arent many good lifepoint gaining cards.

I picked stuff off the top of my head.

And what does Summoner Monk have to do with these cards? None of the ones I made are spells or level 4 monsters unless I'm blind o_o
Oh s***, man, I missread your title, on Ancient Leaf, I had no idea that was a real card, I feel stupid now.
Ok so basically you made better version of reaper and dimensional prison with a gaining life point effect, oh and if Sapphire Sage is targeted by an effect its not destroyed like Reaper.

For the Spellcaster, I would recommend changing it to WATER. This is simply because the pic looks WATER, and we could use more WATER monsters (also because I am running a Fenrir-lock deck and I realize that there are basically no Card-Advantage Generating WATER monsters, and this wold be one). So yea, as usual, I am biased, but still I think that making yet another Earth (the most plentiful Attribute by bunches) as a replacement for a DARK is not a very good idea, especially when there are less than half as many WATER monsters and the pic fits that better as well. As for the Spellcaster-Type, I always thought they needed more support, but it would be ESPECIALLY cool if it was level 2, but I understand you want it to be more used for the healing than for Spellcasters so that is fine. To put it plainly though, I think that it would not get very much play as it is mainly because everybody wants the DARK and most people consider LIfe Point gain to be dumb.

The D-Prison, however, I have a problem with. I hate cards that say "do everything this card does +1 more obviously advantageous thing." Especially when that card is doing tons already in meta. I would recommend making it at the very least a Sakuretsu (if that is how you spell it) + Draining Shield. Also, one time I made a trap version of SHRINK that only activates on an attack and made the controler gain life points equal to the amount the monster's ATK was reduced. Both of these would work, especially the 2nd because it is not so obviously a combination of two already printed cards with absolutely no downside.

Also teenie tiney note...

I have managed to make an insane number of troll decks using infinite life that actually work fairly well (infinite life, Final Countdown, deck out, etc...). Also it can be a real good side against chain burn. And there is an infinite life loop based around it which works far better than flintlock. So don't write it off as bad so easily :P

I don't know, there are at least a few fairy monsters out there that when you either destroy a monster or inflict damage to your opponent you also gain Life Points; Guardian Angel Joan for one.
But once again they tend to be bad. Joan is a double Tribute monster with little support outside of Valhalla, and it's probably the best one.

[insert Kazu's post here because it would take up to much space]
For my Sapphire Sage, looks EARTH to me since it has gems as arms. Plus as EARTH Rat Toolbox gets a fun new toy. And I know people consider Life Gain to be dumb, the point of the topic was to make it not dumb :(

As for the D-Prison, I know and I considered Sakuretsu, but banishing is the reason D-Prison is played. I know it's D-Prison + but it's really all I can think of with that idea so it would actually be used. Plus it makes it a pretty decent generic lp gain card. Idk man.

And yes I'm sure you can make infinite life loops, but LP gain as a whole is unused and inconsistent. I just want more of that.

First off, I think you're actually pretty cool and one of the better members around here, especially in TCG. I haven't seen it much though I am active in random sections despite my lack of posting, but I think you're doing a good job and it's cool how you're not one of those mods that takes their job far too seriously.

As for the cards, the first one isn't really playable, but the second one is like D-Prison on steroids. Absolutely awesome.
