Hardened Armed Dragons IRL

This deck is based around tribute summoning high attack monsters with protection effects using Hardened Armed Dragon in order to get a monster my opponent will not have an easy time removing. In addition, this allows me to make good use of Armory Arm, though it isn't as focused on as it was with an earlier version of the deck due to MST being unlimited.

I've been thinking about removing one Burst Breath for one of the following cards to add more consistency to my deck.
However, there might be other cards that I don't know about so please let me know if anyone reading this gets an idea.

Pot of Avarice - Increases my hand size and allows me to return monsters I want to reuse, but early game its useless.

Gold Sarcophagus - Allows me to search for any card I need, but it is a bit slow. If I were to add it I would also try to add Burial from a Different Dimension, as is works well with both this, Galaxy-Eyes and REDMD.

Pot of Duality - I might run it, but I would like to run two if I do.

If I could Have some comments on this I would be very thankful. I'm also open to listen in on suggestions for my deck.

I realized I forgot to add in how many Armory Arm were in the extra deck in addition to that I ran 2 Five-Headed Dragons, so now that is fixed.

The other cards in my extra deck I have kept out, as it would be fun to see suggestions and ideas here if anyone of you want to try.

This deck, frankly, looks bad. You run far too many high-level monsters for your own good. At MOST you should play 1-2 Obelisk, and he's more of a tech, really. If you're going to base the deck on Harden Armed, go with a third Harden Armed. And lose the Flamvell Guards and the Junk Synchron. This is not a Synchro deck.

Maybe you could build something like this:

3 Red Eyes Wyvern
3 Masked Dragon
1-2 Prime Material
2 Decoy Dragon
1 Strong Wind
1 GEPD
1 Level Eater ( Interesting tech. )

That could be a basic line up. I hate Dragons with a passion, but I'll try and help with the S/T stuff as well.

The suggested build does have its advantages with speed and number of monsters it can bring out due to the 3 red-eyes, however it does have much higher chances of drawing dead hands. With 9 monsters that cannot be summoned from your hand without another monster on the field and since there is no draw power to fetch the other cards needed, you will most likely have to sit put until mid-game to do something. Finally, there are too many ways to counter the build (dimensional fissure/macro for example while it can be mystical space typhooned will shut it down while its active).

I have tried running a lower number of high levels, though I run into the problem of not drawing them (though i guess it is just my luck).
So far I've experimented with it a bit and based on what has happened in-game, 2 hardened armed dragons is the optimal number to run due to that you don't want to sit with more than 1 of them in your hand since they use up both resources and the chance of sitting with 3 high levels and 2 of them in your hand are a very slim in addition to that you are very much at a loss if you get countered.

Decoy dragon is pretty much a stall card that takes up a summon in addition to that it is quite situational, which means it is pretty much useless.

Dragon's Ravine is a bad due to that it is a -2 card that can be stopped if your opponent should chain to the effect with MST.

Prime Material is fairly useful, however I'm not running it at the moment due to that the meta I'm playing against use very little monster destruction, so its too costly for the little destruction that Hardened Armed Dragon can protect against.

Else I don't think I have anything to say as the build is pretty basic aside from that.


Since it was that problematic I updated the list, adding the rest of the extra deck (bear in mind that I don't have access to many synchro monsters at the moment).

I never meant Decoy Dragon. I meant Totem Dragon. Guess that goes to show how long I've been away from Dragons.

Have you considered running any of the Chaos Dragon variants? You wouldn't use Hardened Arm, but the deck in itself is fairly good and you wouldn't need to think about relying on that protection.

Yeah, I have indeed considered running the chaos variant, but after 3 of my friends and some of the other people playing at my locals built chaos dragon decks i decided not to and went back to the deck I ran before (this one if any were wondering) and then tried to improve it some more (as it did work, but I wasn't able to tribute out the high levels consistently, only the monsters needed for the summon).

So I'm going to skip the chaos variant and make another dragon deck when the Hieroglyph dragons come out.

i think totem dragon is a great idea for you.

chaos dragons are badass btw. i have a build that is quick as hell and extremely consistent. like turn 3 otk every game. i will post the decklist later today is i have a chance!
