Spell/Trap/Xyz Tuning

Once per turn, you can Special Summon a Synchro monster by treating a Spell Card, Trap Card, or Xyz monster you control as a Level 0 Tuner monster (this Special Summon is treated as a Synchro Summon).

Image borrowed from Dark Wave. I don't know if any Synchro monsters currently require a Spell/Trap card instead of a Tuner, and if there is one, then I haven't seen it yet.

...that effect confused me in the most awkward way when I first read it. Did you happen to mean:

Target 1 face-up Spell/Trap Card or Xyz Monster you control; treat it as a Level 1* Tuner Monster, until the End Phase. During the End Phase: Destroy all Synchro Monsters you control.

*I've yet to know of a Level 0 Tuner, so I made it say Level 1.

The grammar's probably a bit off but it makes more sense. Reading it like this makes me wonder why I'd bother using this card, when the Continuous Spell/Trap would likely be there for a reason, as well as the Xyz.

You can use it as many times as you'd like in 1 turn, with any Spell/Trap/Xyz (including face-down).

If it's face-down, you'll have to flip it face-up anyway.

And using a Tuner for 2+ Synchro Summons? Doesn't that seem a little, oh idk, abusable?

If I still don't understand, please clarify a little more :I

For every synchro summon, you can substitute the tuner with 1 spell/trap or xyz monster, and the total level of all of the other monsters must equal the synchro monster. If you had 2 face-down traps, 3 level 3 non-tuners and 1 level 4 non-tuner, you can summon 1 Level 6 synchro monster by sending 1 of those traps and 2 level 3 monsters to the grave, then synchro summon a level 7 synchro monster by sending the other trap and the other 2 monsters (level 3 and 4).

I do not think it would get play. It is essentially saying 'Send 1 one spell/trap/xyz to the graveyard to Synchro Summon this turn without a tuner monster.' Unless I am missing something, '[color=#5A5A5A][font=tahoma, helvetica, arial, sans-serif][size=3]Destroy all Synchro monsters you control during the End Phase.' can be dropped if you only let people use the effect of tuning without a tuner once per turn. It is still a -2 just for not having a tuner.[/size][/font][/color]
