The main difference is I don't use Evolution/Exp/Level counters which makes these cards way easier to play with, in my opinion. I've already done over 200 cards here are just the first 18. If you're a fan of Pokemon you'll notice that some of the effects of these monsters are related to the effects of actual Pokemon moves, just converted into a style that works with Yu-Gi-Oh! Dragovian Posted March 29, 2012 Report Share Posted March 29, 2012 It could be just me, but the effect of Charizard is almost identical to that of Drill Warrior, in fact, its just a weaker version (Drill Warrior has the same effect PLUS it can attack directly with a small cost). I know this is pop culture, but releasing a synchro monster with another synchro monster's effect seems like a lack of ideas. I do like Venusaur's ability though, as it's similar to Arcanite Magician, and yet has its own originality about it. Blastoise is also LIKE Bryonac but not quite the same. Apart from that, the only quarrel I would have it that for the Butterfree and Beedrill cards, you should probably make it (remember that this is pop culture) so that they only gain the effects if they are special summoned by the effects of Caterpie or Metapod respectively. You could improve their effects if necessary. All I'm saying is that don't be afraid to get inspiration from good real cards, but at the same time don't just copy them. On a positive note, I noticed (for most of them) the fact that the abilities match the moves (e.g. Solarbeam for Venusaur). I tried to to that for ages myself. TheKaitoKid Posted March 29, 2012 Author Report Share Posted March 29, 2012 Yeah Charizard's effect is very similar to Drill Warrior's [Drill Warrior is among my favorite cards]. but not the same in that it's a Quick Effect as opposed to an Ignition Effect. Also it comes back in the End Phases which makes it slightly faster than Drill's. Another thing to note is that Charizard's effect works when it's Special Summoned in general, not just by its own effect [another advantage over Drill]. And for the monster's here the moves are: Bulbasaur - Leech Seed Ivysaur - Razor Leaf Venusaur - Solar Beam Charmander - Ember [Small burn] Charmeleon - Flamethrower [Large burn] Charizard - Fly Squirtle - Withdraw Wartortle - Protect Blastoise - Hydro Pump (Kinda) Caterpie - N/A (Just the ability Run Away) Metapod - N/A Butterfree - Sleep Powder, Stun Spore, Poisonpowder Weedle - N/A (Just the ability Poison Point which I know it doesn't have in the games) Kakuna - N/A Beedrill - N/A Pidgey - N/A (Just a Flying-Type immunity to Ground.) Dewgong's effect has no Special Summon effect, nor does Muk. And some of the images just plain on look unsutaible to be Yu-Gi-Oh! cards; Muk's card for example. [/quote] The word is definitely "cocoon" not "cacoon". And no not all the monsters have a Special Summon effect. Only Level 7+ with the exception of Pidgeot who is a fully evolved Pokemon.
