Declaring a Role is like activating an effect. However you can only activate 1 of the 3 effects per monster per turn.[/spoiler]

There are 6 Roles: Commando, Ravager, Sentinel, Saboteur, Synergist, Medic
COM - prevents opponent from adding cards to their hand
RAV - discards cards from opponent's hand
SEN - protects monsters from attacks

SYN - augments monsters
MED - supports monsters

Once per turn, you can declare either “Commando”, “Ravager” or “Medic”. Activate the corresponding effect:
Commando: Declare only during your turn if this card is the only monster you control. Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower Warrior or Spellcaster-Type monster from your hand. If this card attacks a monster this turn, this card gains half its original ATK during the Damage Step only. If the attack target is destroyed by battle, your opponent skips their next Draw Phase.
Ravager: Declare only when this card attacks a monster of a different Attribute than this card. This card gains ATK equal to half its original ATK during the Damage Step only. If the attack target is destroyed by battle, discard 1 card from your opponent’s hand.
Medic: Declare only when you would take Battle Damage dealt by your opponent’s monster. Gain Life Points equal to the damage instead. Your opponent draws 1 card.

Twice per turn, you can declare either “Ravager”, “Synergist” or “Commando”. Activate the corresponding effect:
Ravager: Declare only when this card destroys a monster by battle. Discard 1 card from your opponent’s hand.
Synergist: Declare only when a monster you control attacks an Attack Position monster whose ATK is higher than the ATK of your monster. The attack target loses ATK equal to your monster’s original ATK at the end of the Damage Step until the end of the Battle Phase. If your monster would be destroyed by this battle, it is not. (Damage calculation is applied normally). Your opponent draws 1 card.
Commando: Declare only when this card destroys a monster by battle. Your opponent skips their next Draw Phase.

Ravager: Declare only when this card attacks a monster of a different Attribute than this card. This card gains ATK equal to half its original ATK during the Damage Step only. If the attack target is destroyed by battle, discard 1 card from your opponent’s hand.
Medic: Declare only when your opponent’s monster attacks a monster you control. During this Damage Step, any Battle Damage dealt by your opponent’s monster is decreased by half this card’s original ATK. Your opponent draws 1 card.
Saboteur: Declare only during a battle between an attacking monster you control and a Defense Position monster whose DEF is lower than the ATK of your monster. Inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent. Your opponent skips their next Draw Phase.

Ravager: Declare only when this card attacks a monster of a different Attribute than this card. This card gains ATK equal to half its original ATK during the Damage Step only. If the attack target is destroyed by battle, discard 1 card from your opponent’s hand.
Synergist: Declare only if your opponent’s monster attacks and would destroy by battle an Attack Position monster you control whose ATK is lower than the ATK of your opponent’s monster. Your monster is not destroyed. (Damage calculation is applied normally). The difference in ATK is subtracted from your monster’s ATK instead. If its ATK is decreased to 0 this way, destroy it. Medic: Declare only if a monster you control would be destroyed by battle. By paying Life Points equal to its ATK, it is not destroyed. (Damage calculation is applied normally). The opponent draws 1 card.

Once per turn, you can declare either “Commando”, “Sentinel” or “Saboteur”. Activate the corresponding effect:
Commando: Declare only when this card destroys a monster by battle. Inflict Battle Damage to your opponent equal to the destroyed monster’s ATK. Your opponent cannot activate any effect that adds card(s) to their hand next turn.
Sentinel: Declare only during your opponent’s turn. This card is switched to Defense Position. During this Battle Phase, this card is the only attack target your opponent can select. During battle between an attacking monster and this Defense Position monster whose DEF is lower than the ATK of the attacking monster, you take the difference as Battle Damage. If this card would be destroyed by battle this turn, it is not. (Damage calculation is applied normally). Your opponent draws 1 card at the end of the turn.
Saboteur: Declare only when your opponent activates an effect that targets monster(s) you control. Discard 1 card. Negate the activation of the effect. Your opponent skips their next Draw Phase.

I can't really rate your cards because I'm confused by the ocg.

For example, what do you mean by this card can only be declared when it attacks a monster? Also why is there a (max 3) in Sazh's lore. Did you mean to give him counters?

Haha I should have probably explained that. Once per turn, you can declare a "Role" using the card's effect as in you would say something during the Duel like:

"I activate 'Vanille's' effect! I declare 'Ravager'!"

In a way, you can look at declaring a Role like activitating a Spell or Trap Card. Like Spell and Trap Cards, you can only declare a Role if the activation conditions are met. For example, let's go back to Vanille's Ravager effect: "This can only be declared when this card attacks a monster."

So the moment you have Vanille select an attack target and declare an attack is the moment you can declare "Ravager". Of course, like activating a Spell Card, the effect is applied. Vanille's effect states: [color=#5A5A5A][font=tahoma, helvetica, arial, sans-serif][size=3][center]If the attack target’s Attribute is different than this card’s, this card gains ATK equal to half its own original ATK during the Damage Step only. If this card destroys the monster by battle, discard 1 card from the opponent. [/center][/size][/font][/color]

So the effect resolves like any other Spell Card, only for this particular battle however. The purpose of the Ravager is fullfilled if Vanille destroys the monster, which will then result in discarding 1 card from the opponent's hand. Hope I cleared things up

I see what you are trying to do here, but I honestly don't know how the OCG would work here...

anyways, it's a new way of approaching effects I guess, kinda unique

I like it

won't rate it since u don't have much still and I'm sure balance and things like that would be determined by the support cards it gets

Thanks, I appreciate the comment. And yea, I wasn't really sure at first how to approach the concept OCG-wise. If anyone would like to suggest a simpler, more understandable wording, please post. I'd like to see what you guys can come up with.

Just a minor update on the cards. I've simplified some of the Roles of the characters and simplified the wording a little bit. Hope it helps
