Hey guys, Sidewinder here with my Archenemy format for Yu-Gi-Oh. As some of you probably know, Archenemy is a gametype that appeared out of Magic the Gathering and as I love both MtG and YGO very much, I decided to port over the Archenemy format to YGO. For those unfamiliar with the Archenemy gametype I found this for you:
In an Archenemy game, one player—the archenemy—takes on the role of a merciless tyrant bent on total domination. The other players form a team dedicated to stopping the archenemy at any cost, taking a shared turn one after another.
In essence, Archenemy can be played with any amount of people, with reason of course. However, it's designed to be played with 4 individuals in a 3vs1 format. Me and my four friends I regularly play this with have agreed that the Archenemy should be given 2 Normal Summons per turn and have a Life Points pool of about x 10000 per player against them. Here's another excerpt from the MtG website:
But teaming up on the archenemy isn't unfair—it's a desperate survival tactic. The archenemy comes to the fight armed not only with a normal [s]60[/s] card deck, but also with a deck of [s]20 oversized[/s] scheme cards. These represent the clever plots and monstrous machinations of the archenemy, and they give his or her deck the power boost it needs to—maybe—take out two, three, four, or even more opponents.
For us, in the YGO universe that's a 40-card deck, but also with a deck of 40 scheme cards. I also designed them to be 226 x 334 (221 × 324 are the life sized dimensions of a Yu-Gi-Oh card in pixels, mine are larger to account for the text not blobbing when printing.) I also recommend that the Archenemy have a deck larger than the standard 40, as 40 is quite low for a 3+vs1 format.
The archenemy's turn plays out just like a turn in any [s]Magic[/s] game, with one major difference. As the first main phase of the archenemy's turn begins, that player sets a scheme in motion—yes, that is now an actual game action!—by turning the top card of the scheme deck face up.The archenemy's turn plays out just like a turn in any [s]Magic[/s]game, with one major difference. As the first main phase of the archenemy's turn begins, that player sets a scheme in motion—yes, that is now an actual game action!—by turning the top card of the scheme deck face up.
So, before the draw phase, the Archenemy turns over 1 scheme card and it is then, "Set in motion." Schemes cannot be negated or destroyed unless abandoned by the Archenemy if it was an "Ongoing Scheme." Here's another quote from the site:
A few "hot seat" schemes let you put one of your opponents in a very awkward position by asking, "Self or others?"

Will your opponent take one for the team, choosing the option that puts less total hurt on the archenemy's opponents? Or will he or she decide to let teammates take the heat, leaving his or her own position unchanged? A team player will look at this choice objectively, consult with his or her teammates, and choose the option that's best for the team as a whole ... but not everybody's a team player!

If the opponent you choose doesn't have any teammates left, he or she can choose "others" and suffer no ill effects at all. On the other hand, that player is facing you and your scheme deck all alone—not an enviable position!
Revealing a scheme as your first main phase begins is mandatory. Gravely intoning its name and flavor text and then cackling madly is optional.
Another thing that should be noted, is that these cards are by no means 100% complete. I'm not quite done analyzing and perfecting my work, so don't assume them to be the finished product. However, I do deem them to be ready for play. I have printed mine off on cardstock and removed the pictures of some really old cards of mine and replaced the fronts of the card with my Archenemy cards. They do look quite authentic in their black sleeves I picked up from my local card shop. Something you'll notice is the random quote at the end of the card effect. That's just flavor text, a sort of memento I included. It has no effect on anything, it's just there on some of the cards as a treat.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy seeing them and maybe even using them as much as I had fun making them. Now, without further ado, here they are:

I enjoy playing MTG and seeing this makes me happy. its a new idea and a different way to play other then your standard Duel or Tag team duel. I love the idea of playing yu-gi-oh like the archenemy MTG game style.

Me aswell, thank you for your support.
