david ice
I had an argument with my brother, weather or not robots, clones should have right, and it mostly revolved around ''astro boy''. I sayed astro boy is just a computer program with a body it can control almost like a video game npc with a body but why more advance and he sayed that clones and robots who can learn, should get rights eg the bicentennial man. What do you think?

The Amazing Avian
Clones being artificially made people would deserve the same rights as regular humans. Robots, being machines, however would not need rights unless it was a case of a human brain being hooked up to a robot for medical purposes or otherwise. Lunar Origins
Unless a robot was self-aware, I highly doubt any rights would be required of it, unless people are absolute nutjobs.
WTFauKorean
an easy way to look at clones are identical twins, they share the same genetic DNA material with each other and therefore natural clones of each other with out artificial means. They may have similar interests, habits and characteristics of each other but still they're apart from each other as a whole new individual. And honestly even with the exact same genetic material there is a chance they won't even look that similar to each other at all depending on life style choices, such as exercise, drug and alcohol use and even fashion choice. in other words a scientifically produced clone is like a new born baby reproduced A sexually in a lab. just another human like anyone else. therefore their rights and responsibilities would be identical towards the environment they live in, most basically the laws of the specified country. robots however are more then likely even with achieved learning and autonomous artificial intelligence to never achieve rights because they will most likely be bound by non-override limiting programming. as long as scientist do not fail to contradict logic within programming, it is likely that a robot will never be able to achieve freedoms because it is something a robot would never want in the first place nor would it be of any practical use towards the robot. a cyborg however would more than likely be given rights and responsibilities and quite possibly rights and responsibilities specified towards their special circumstances. Mehmani
Clones have the same mental capacity as humans. Intelligence is the thing that matters when it comes to rights, so clones should be treated the same way as humans. Robots are machines that operate without thought. We should not be sentimental about throwing them away. If a robot manages to have artificial intelligence implanted i.e. it becomes as intelligent and thoughtful as a human, then it should be treated with equal rights. As a general rule, if a robot is as intelligent a dog, you treat it like a dog. If it's a clever as a chimp, it has the same rights as a chimp etc.
