Mew 2.0
Hi! I wanted to talk for a moment about this website, me, and why we're here. Think of this post as a Time Capsule; in the future, I dont know when exactly, I'll Necrobump this topic. I will bring it back to show everyone how we, as a site, as a culture, as a person, have grown. If you don't think a good, future self-evaluation sounds healthy, you can leave now, go back to your Breaking Bad, season 5, your American politics, your Halo 4's, your summer enjoyment. Or, you can keep on reading and participate in a social experiment, and be a part of something new and fresh.I would like you to take a second and click the follow topic button up in the corner, so that when it's time for our look at ourselves, you'll know, and with that out of the way, we can move on. I have been on this site for a long time. And while this account is my longest-running, its my 4th, keeping in mind i didn't make an account until after 3 months of making my very first card. I was young back then, so young. I back then I made cards for the novelty, for the idea of my very own touch in my favorite games (that even my friends played!). Now I make cards to impress, to get praise from my peers who, like me, hide behind our screens to show our opinions, but isn't that interesting? We don't think about it, but who are we? Who is that newest member fresh onto the forums? Who is that moderator, that staff member, who helps you and seems so important? We don't know. Maybe we shouldn't know, I sure don't, because as soon as I do, the illusion is gone. The illusion that this is a whole place is filled with people just like me who want to make cards and interact with new, fresh people who aren't like anyone in our real lives. We are a community who thrives on others, but isn't that interesting? So much relies on you and me and the newest member, anyone who replies, or makes a thread, or updates a status. I don't want this place to fall; too many memories. But I want us too re-evaluate why we're here. Are we a Yu-gi-oh card-making community? When was the last time you opened up that card maker tab and posted something and gotten the same response you wanted, the same respect from your peers you wanted, the same respect you deserve, but isn't that interesting? Currently, I'm listening to my fan in the background. I'm listening to my fingers typing. What are you listening to? What do you want to listen to? What do YOU, as a person on this whole, wide Earth, WANT from yourself? Can you get that here? I want to make cards, and get so much constructive criticism mixed in with all the "really great card" posts, but lets be real, we're all just fellow members of the shouting contest, wanting our ideas to be praised by a group of strangers, half of whom don't care about you, and half of whom won't give you what you want to give them. But you know what, until we, and i mean WE do something to fix that, we're stuck like this. Right here, right now, reading this topic and i bet you so many more like it in the future. And that, my friends, is interesting.
Doc.
On the point of the Card Maker, nobody uses it for this reason; It's probably the most outdated piece of s*** ever. Yes, we are a card making community, and Lord YCMaker, King of the Inactive province, intended it to be so. But we have so many replacements, some people want to make XYZ, but still have that YCM feel to it, YuGiCo does not pull that stuff off. Dueling Network forums are milking the card maker in their CaC section, and not even giving credit. I'll be on YCM as long as possible, and If it dies, I won't have anything to waste my time with, mind you; A good waste of time. So to those who want to make YCM a more active place, tell more people about it, for instance, theres this YugiTuber (Youtuber that talks about YuGiOh!) called BUSFARE, like a DN legend, if he were to join this site, I think he would make the place a bit more active.
ok, its outdated I give you that, but in the early days of XYZ, people found a way to outcome that. They uploaded their own pictures of the cards, the stated in the desc, "this is an xyz card". I don't see how the DN forums are milking us, and I also don't see how your favorite youtuber will help us. I'm not saying we need more activity, im saying we need more self-conscious and more intelligent activity.

Mew 2.0
I don't see it. While I will admit, this place is a little more barren than before, I invite you to go to this fellow and ask him to join. This is an idea you made. Its your project. Go forth, help us in a way you see fit.

Mew 2.0
Than again! Don't give up, perseverance is the most logical route to victory. Rally me, rally US. Premier Alexander Romanov
The way I see it, the main problem for YCM as a card-making site is the fact that we no longer offer the highest-quality product. Yugico has gained a lot of popularity because they can make Xyzs, while we cannot, and we cannot even begin to compete until we get Xyz-making capability. Mew 2.0
As I said before, get some imagination. "Its not the dog in the fight, its the fight in the dog." Premier Alexander Romanov
Well, using my high school understanding of economics, we need something to bring in the visitors. We need something people would be willing to drop by YCM for. However, what we used to be known for, a card-making application, is kaput. We need to be known for something else. Anyone have any ideas?

You can depend on people because you want to depend on them and they want to depend on you. A community is nothing without others and that's what we are, a community. Look at our growth. How did you first learn about this site? Not just you, Flan, but anyone, really, think. Was it a friend that pointed us out, or a reference from another member of another site? I found out from the purest form of innocence: curiosity. I had a passion for something and access to the internet and it led me here. Who do you want in our ranks? Maybe we have things of our own to work out as a community. Maybe, before we can ever hope to grow, we need to straighten out a few things with ourselves and each other. Oh boy, this will be interesting.
no, not the site, per say. I see no problems with it. It is a tool, a tool create and forged for the purpose of card making. And while its use now has maybe changed over the years, it is still a good-working tool. What needs to change is maybe who's using it. Do you think !!!dialga!, joined 23rd of November, 2007 really needs his own profile? Maybe, we need a purging, an extermination of all the accounts made for 1 post, made and forgotten about. Death Metal
The site has just grown somewhat uninteresting. The forums use to be the lifeblood of this entire site and the most active members played a big part in keeping this site alive. However they grew up, got lives, and left just like everyone else. When they leave then other people will too due to the attachment they had to the members. Without them this site isn't the same.

?someone?
Yeah, I guess I slake my thirst for social gratification by posting stupid s**t. When someone replies to my status, it's like my ego gets a tiny little erection. Thankfully, none have lasted for more than four hours. I'm on this forum because I want people to like me, because of the same reason lots of chicks post duckface photos on Facebook. I am listening to old music, I will probably listen to it for a long time. I want to be good at things, I want to like the things that spring from pen onto paper from my limited imagination. I want Nesquick cereal to taste as good as I always thought. I want the Mortal Kombat theme to play during kickboxing matches, and I want bullet time to be a thing in real life. So, to answer your questions, mr. philosopher dude, I'm a loser. Isn't that interesting?
