Duel Academy: Class is in session! Chapter 3 posted

This takes place about 5 or 6 years after Jaden, Syrus, Chazz, and Alexis graduate. A new group of students are about to take the exam and join the Ranks of Duel Academy. Old and new threats will make things interesting for our young duelists. So... Lets Duel!!

 

Prologue

 

It has been a few years since Duel Academy has had any problems involving evil. Things have finally settled down since Jaden and his friends have graduated and started on their own paths in life. Chancellor Shepard is looking out of his office window enjoying his view of the ocean. With an unpleasant sigh he sits down and gets back to reviewing the Applications for the next batch of Students. After a few hours of looking at them he came across a few that caught his attention.

 

(Sheppard) Let’s see here, Robert Griffin: age 15, lives in Houston, Deck type: Fairy? That is an interesting choice. It’s odd to find guys to use such decks. Wait… his name sounds familiar? No Way! Is this the same kid who won 5 Junior Championships in a row? It would be an honor to have him at our school.

 

(???) Yes, it most certainly would.

 

(Sheppard) Who’s there? Is that you Crowler?

 

At that point Dr. Crowler, Head of the Obelisk Blue Dorm, had entered the room. His nasty looking grin made Sheppard a little worried.

 

(Crowler) Have you considered the list of potential Students that I gave you?

 

(Sheppard) Yes, I looked at those first.

 

(Crowler) SO? What do you think?

 

(Sheppard) Several of them fit the Qualifications to come here: Mark Holiday, Dustin Leiblein, Marco Pena, and Travis McIntosh.

 

(Crowler(angry and shocked)) That’s it? I gave you a list that was 5 times as long! Why only them?

 

(Sheppard) We aren’t only looking for people to fill the Blue Dorm. We need People of all backgrounds. Do you see where I’m coming from Crowler?

 

(Crowler (Not happy)) I understand, however this school doesn’t need any more Slifer Slackers!!!

 

(Sheppard) As I recall we had a "Slifer Slacker" become the best duelist in the School, remember?

 

(Crowler) Fine, let them in! I’m going to make them wish they had never picked up a Duel Disk!

 

Crowler turns and storms out of the office.

 

(Sheppard(relieved)) Phew, I’m glad that’s over with. So that makes 12: Robert Griffin, Toby Torres, Joseph Barber, Jordan Smith, Jennifer Hales, Heather Williams, Mark Holiday, Marco Pena, Travis McIntosh, Dustin LeiBlein, Amanda Evans and Scott Evanicky. Welcome to the Academy. I just hope I’m doing the right thing?

 

After a few weeks, the students who were sent letters were asked to come to the Industrial Illusion Convention Center in San Francisco to take their exams. And a new Session was about to begin!

Chapter 1: The Next Great Hero!

 

It was dawn at the Industrial Illusion Convention Center in San Francisco and a thin fog is covering the ground. This is the site were duelists from around the world will try to get into Duel Academy by passing the written and field tests. It will be a few hours before the “Regular” applicants would be there to register. However, this time of day was used to give the exam to the “invited” applicants.

 

(???)I hope that I’m not to early?

 

Said Robert as he rushed to the entrance of the Convention Center. After checking his invitation for the start time and seeing that he still had 45 minutes until the exam started, he sat down and took a sigh of relief. As he sat down he took out his deck to check for any last minute changes he might want to make to it.

 

(Robert) Well, here we are guys, now that we’ve made it this far there is nothing that can stop us! I promise not to let you down.

((In his head) this is for you Dad!)

 

(???) Isn’t that Sweet, the little baby is talking to his cards! Do you think that if you apologies now, they won’t be mad that you failed them loser!

 

Robert looked up to see three other boys about his age standing about 10 feet away from him. They were all dressed in black and seemed up to nothing productive.

 

(Robert) Hey guy’s I think the Idiot Convention is next week. But, if you’re here to enter the Academy, you’ll have to wait a few hours for the rest. This time slot is only opened to “invited” duelists.

 

(???) Then why are you here? Because (all three of them pull out their invitations) we are on the guest list so get lost!

 

(Robert(while showing his invitation)) Sorry, but your going to have to wait in line. Who are you guy’s anyway?

 

(???) We are the Triad; and we are going to rule the freshman class this year. MY name is Dustin

 

(???) I’m Travis.

 

(???) You can call me Marco.

 

(Dustin, Travis, Marco) and we’re going to stomp all that get in our way!

 

(Robert(thinking)) These guys think I’m the weird one?

 

(Dustin(wanting to make a spectacle of the kind)) I know, how about a duel before the exams start? Since you’re invited, you should be good. You are good, aren’t you?

 

(Robert as he is putting on his Duel Disk) Okay. I could use the warm-up and you look like you are easy enough.

 

(Dustin outraged) You Brat! Fine, I’m going to put you in your place you Punk! No one insults me like that and gets away with it!

 

Dustin took a while in putting on his Duel Disk due to his anger.

 

(Robert, Dustin) Duel!!

 

Robert = 4000LP

Dustin = 4000LP

 

(Dustin) Winner’s first, I draw. Not a bad start. I Summon “Trojan Horse” in attack mode and place two cards face down. Your move you punk.

 

(Robert) If you say so, I draw. I play the spell card “Heavy Storm”, so say goodbye to your face down cards!

 

(Dustin) Damnit!!

 

As Robert played Heavy Storm, Dustin’s face down cards flew away in a gust of wind. Robert, wearing a confident look on his face, continued his move.

 

(Robert) I’m not done yet, I activate the effect of “Zeradias, Harold of Heaven”. After I discard this card from my hand to the Graveyard, I get to add “The Sanctuary in the Sky” to my hand from my deck. Now I play “The Sanctuary in the Sky” from my hand.

 

A giant Greek building Sitting on clouds appears on the dueling field. The rest vanishes and clouds appear at their feet.

 

(Robert) I thought we could use a change in the scenery, now on with my move. I Summon the “Warrior of Zera” in attack mode. But he isn’t going to be staying for long, because I’m offering him to Summon his ultimate form!!

 

(Dustin) What the ….

 

(Robert) I offer “Warrior of Zera” to Summon “Archlord Zerato”!!!

 

(Dustin) Holy Crap!! I thought he was never used!

 

(Robert) Well, not quite. I’m one of the few people who use him on a regular basis. However, we’re not here to talk about what I use in my deck, we are here to duel so let us continue shall we? I activate “Arhlord Zerato’s” Special ability! By Discarding a Light Monster from my hand to the Graveyard, I can destroy All of your monsters!! Now Zerato, attack him Directly with Celestial Sword Slash!

 

Robert = 4000 LP

Dustin = 1200 LP

 

(Dustin (Falling to his knees)) This can’t be happening!!! I was the top student of Duel Prep, won all the local tournaments, how am I losing to a punk who is using Fairies of all things!!

 

(Robert) That is what you get for underestimating your opponent. I end my turn.

 

(Dustin) It’s about damn time you finished! I Draw! You just sealed your fate. I play “Monster Reborn”, Come back from the Graveyard “Trojan Horse”!

 

A Glow comes from Dustin’s Graveyard as Trojan Horse returns to field in Attack mode.

 

(Robert) Why on earth did….

 

(Dustin) I’m not done yet. Next, I’ll offer my horse to exchange it for my ultimate Creature! Meet the “Perfect Machine King”!!!

 

Trojan Horse returned to the Graveyard and was replaced with a mechanical menace known as The Perfect Machine King.

 

(Robert(Laughing)) You went through all that Drama for that! I could do better moves in my sleep!!

 

(Dustin) Sure, he is weaker now. However, after I Activate the spell card called “Mage Power” and set one Card face down, My “Perfect Machine King” is Stronger than your Archlord!

 

(Robert(worried)) that’s not good…

 

(Dustin) Your Damn right it is!! “Perfect Machine King”, attack that weakling Zerato. Mechanical Rocket Fist!!

 

Perfect Machine King’s fist flies towards “Archlord Zerato”, destroying it, and gives Robert a right cross and knocks him to the ground.

 

Robert = 3100 LP

Dustin = 1200 LP

 

(Dustin) You see that boys, that is how it’s done.

 

(Travis) You’re the man Dustin!!

 

(Marco) Yeah, Put him in his place Dustin!

 

 

While they’re giving their boss praise, Robert gets up with a really pissed off look on his face.

 

(Robert) So, you think that you have already won! That attitude of your will never get you anywhere in life.

 

(Dustin) You think that you are going to win this? Face it You’ve lost !! You have no cards on the field or in your hand. You have nothing!!

 

(Robert) Are you Sure because it’s my move, I draw. It looks like I’ll get a clean slate here. I play “Card of Sanctity”!!

 

(Dustin) Holy Crap!! How did you pull that!

 

(Robert) I Guess I’m just Lucky like that((Thinking) wow, that was pure dumb luck! I hope it doesn’t run out), now we draw until we both have six cards in our hand.

 

Dustin draws four cards while Robert draws six.

 

(Robert) Not a bad hand, if I do say so myself. I play “Monster Reborn” to bring back my “Archlord Zerato”! I also play the spell card “Celestial Transformation”! This allows me to Special Summon a Fairy-Type monster From my hand to the field. However I have to cut it’s points in half and destroy it at the end of the turn. I Special Summon “The Agent of Judgment – Saturn” from my hand ( 2400/0 > 1200/0).

 

(Dustin) I Activate my face down Card, “Just Deserts”! I inflict 500 points of Damage to your Life Points for every monster on your side of the field, and I count two.

 

Robert = 2100 LP

Dustin = 1200 LP

 

(Robert) Thank you I was hoping that you would do that.

 

(Dustin) What?

 

(Robert) because now I can show no mercy. I play “United We Stand” and equip it to my Archlord! (2800/2300 < 4400/2300)

 

(Dustin(Thinking)) This is going to hurt….alot

 

(Robert) Archlord, attack his “Perfect Machine King”! Celestial Sword Slash!

 

Robert = 2100 LP

Dustin = 0000 LP

 

The dueling holograms vanished and the duel disks them selves shut down. Robert gave a sigh of relief while Dustin started to crack. Travis and Marco went over to him and tried to snap him out of it.

 

(Robert) That was a good warm-up. I hope there are no hard feelings?

 

(Dustin(dumbfounded)) I can’t believe it….I lost to some punk…. A punk that used fairies… Fairies!!!

 

(Travis) Boss, hey boss! Snap out of it! How dare you do that to him! We will get revenge for this, do you hear me! By the way punk what’s your name?

 

(Robert) My name is Robert Griffin and I don’t respond well to threats. Put on your duel disk and you’ll see first hand.

 

(Travis) No way, the Robert Griffin?

 

(Marco(confused)) Who’s that?

 

(Travis(shocked)) Do you not read Jr. Duelist Magazine? He is the winner of Jr. League World Championships 5 years in a row!

 

(Marco(brings Dustin to his feet)) If he is who you say he is, let’s get out of here!

 

(Travis(following suite)) I’m with you!

 

Marco and Travis make a run for it while trying to take their fallen leader with then.

 

 

(Robert) Have fun you guys! See you at the Academy!(under his breath) God I hope not. Those guys are a few cards short of a deck.

 

(Sheppard) That was Quite the performance you put on young man.

 

(Robert) Thanks. What the... Who are You?

 

(Sheppard) I’m Chancellor Sheppard. I’ll be your Principle at Duel Academy.

 

(Robert(shocked and embarrassed)) Sorry, my bad I didn’t mean to be so rude. My name is…

 

(Sheppard) I know who you are. I read over your Credentials and I have to say that I’m impressed. You of all people are more than qualified to go here. That is, if you pass. How about we go in and get started.

 

(Robert)That sound great to me Chancellor! Were are the other Duelists?

 

(Sheppard) They’re already inside. They Saw your duel and went in the side entrance. We have about a half an hour before we begin.

 

(Robert) Well lets get going. I don’t want to keep them waiting.

 

Robert and the Chancellor went in the to door of the Convention Center to begin the Dorm Selection Process for Next Semester. Next Time Chapter 2: Duel Academy Qualifiers Part 1.

Sorry for the long wait every body, Here is chapter 2:

 

Chapter 2: Duel Academy Qualifiers part 1

 

Robert and Chancellor Sheppard entered the Convention center to get the Exams

underway. As they headed to the main Dueling Arena, they saw Pictures of old battles

that made Dueling history. Everything from Duelist Kingdom to the Gx tournament that was held at Duel Academy a few years ago, and finally some shots of the modern Pro, Semi-Pro and Jr. Leagues. Right as they were about to enter the door, Chancellor Sheppard stopped dead in his tracts.

 

(Robert) What is the matter Chancellor?

 

(Sheppard) It’s nothing, nothing at all. You can go on ahead; I have a few people I have to talk to before I go into the Arena.

 

Chancellor Sheppard turns and heads to the elevator, leaving Robert at the door.

 

(Robert (confused)) Okay, what ever you say. I’ll see you in a few Chancellor!

 

As Chancellor Sheppard got into the Elevator, he pushed the button for the observation level. While the elevator was going up, it gave him time to contemplate the coming school year.

 

(Sheppard (Thinking)) I think that this year is going to be the best year that this academy has seen in a long time. Ever since Jaden and his friends graduated, the school has been very boring and un-eventful. I know that there have been tournaments, School Duels, and many major events. However, without the threat of evil; things are winding down. I hope with the edition of these talented students and a few new teachers, it’ll be a year to remember. I hope that the new teachers, and the others, got my invitation. I also hope HE shows up as well.

 

 

Above the Dueling Arena, on the observation level, six young adults are looking down below to see if anyone has started to duel. Five are dressed in business casual while one is in a white three-piece suit.

 

(???) It’s been a long time since we have taken the Duel Academy Entrance Exam, hasn’t Syrus?

 

(Syrus) Yes Jaden, it has been a long time. How much longer do you have till the pro circuit starts up again?

 

(Jaden) I have a few days till they start with the duels again. That accident last month has led to a major investigation. I hope they find out who did it and make them pay! But enough about that…. Who do you want to see duel?

 

(???) I hope the let the young ladies go first.

 

(Jaden) I know honey and I hope they’re as strong as you are.

 

The woman, wearing a knee-length black skirt, light blue blouse and black heels, turned to Jaden and gave him and an annoyed but affectionate look.

 

(???) Just because I married you Jaden, doesn’t mean I like pet names any more than I use to.

 

(Jaden) I know Alexis, but that doesn’t change what I said. If these girls, and guys, want to survive here at the Academy, they’ll need to be strong, like you and me. (Turns to his left) Am I right guys?

 

Jaden turns and looks at the three guys that are there besides them. They are all dressed in business casual except for the one in the white, three-piece suit.

 

(???) There is a lot of potential here today.

 

(???) That may be true, but none compare to “The Chazz”.

 

(???) After all these years, you still refer to yourself in the third person? Honestly Chazz, It’s getting rather annoying.

 

(Chazz) Shut up Bastion, or should I call you Dr. Misawa?

 

(Bastion) I prefer doctor, but you guy’s are the exception. I feel about this as much as Aster feels about his title of President.

 

(Aster) Being the President of the Pro Dueling Commission has it advantages, but I hate the title.

 

(Elevator) Ding!!

 

(All) Huh?

 

As they turn to see who is in the elevator Chancellor Sheppard exits from it.

 

(Sheppard) It’s great to see you all again! I can’t stay long. Can Alexis, Syrus and Bastion please come with me?

 

As the group is about to leave, Alexis gives Jaden a kiss and a long goodbye hug.

 

(Alexis (in Jaden’s ear)) I’m going to miss you so much. Promise me you’ll come and visit?

 

(Jaden (in Alexis’s ear)) I’m going to miss you too. As soon as I get some off time, I’ll be out there at Duel Academy to see you. I promise.

 

With that, Chancellor Sheppard, Bastion, Syrus and Alexis get into the elevator and head to the Arena floor.

 

(Jaden (sad)) I’m going to miss her.

 

(Aster) Me too. It was a nice change of pace having her touring with you when she wasn’t in class.

 

(Chazz (Thinking)) Jaden doesn’t deserve her. I should be married to Alexis!

 

(Jaden) Yes it was nice. But, I can’t stop her from living her dream.

 

(Crowler) Attention potential students! My name is Dr. Crowler. Welcome to this years Duel Academy Entrance Exam. Due to the fact that your grades is school were so high we are unfortunately waving your written Exams.

 

(Students (While applauding)) Yeah!!

 

(Crowler)Settle down, settle down. Your dueling exams however, are about to begin. Could Scott Evanicky go to Field A; Jennifer Hales please go to Field B.

 

(Jaden (Excited)) It’s about to start!!

 

 

Meanwhile, in the elevator

 

(Sheppard) Are you guys nervous? After all, you’re the teachers this time not the students.

 

(Bastion) I’m hoping that I do my best Chancellor. However, the odd part will not be being the teacher; it’ll be working with Crowler as an equal.

 

(Syrus) You said it Bastion. Oh man, I wish Jaden was coming with us.

 

(Alexis (sad)) You’re not the only one Syrus. This will be the longest we have been apart since the day before the wedding.

 

(Sheppard) How long has it been?

 

(Alexis) Only six months. Jaden and I finally get together and we have to split in order to pursue our careers. I’m going to miss him so much.

 

(Syrus (putting his on Alexis’s shoulder)) Don’t worry about it Alexis, I am sure that he’ll come the moment he gets some time off.

 

(Bastion) I hate to interrupt, but aren’t we missing a few people? Where’s Hasselberry and the other guy?

 

(Sheppard) They’re waiting on us in the arena. Now we’re the only ones holding up the opening ceremonies. By now Crowler should be starting the Dueling Exams.

 

As they hit the bottom level, they open the doors to the sounds of cheers and shouting.

 

(Sheppard) I guess they’ve already started.

Robert entered the Arena Level door and started to look for people he might know, and people he might want to avoid. As he went further into the room, the group of four girls that were right by the door started to whisper as he walked by.

 

(???) Is that Robert Griffin?

 

(???) No, it can’t be Robert. Wait… well I declare, it is Robert. How’s my hair?

 

(??? (Thinking, blushing)) I can’t believe that Robert is here! It has been a long time since we’ve seen each other. I hope he recognizes me!

 

(???) Are you okay Heather?

 

(???) Yeah Heather, you look like you’ve seen a ghost?

 

(Heather) I’m fine Jordan, Jennifer. I just had a blast from my past that’s all. Anyway, when is this going to get started?

 

(Jordan) I hope it starts soon. The tension here is making me more nervous than a bull in the auction ring.

 

(Jennifer) Could you please speak English? Not everybody is from Georgia Jordan. We people of Maine are completely clueless to your odd sayings.

 

(Heather (Nervously)) Oh my God, here comes Robert!

 

(Robert) Hey Ladies, long time no see!

 

(Jordan) Hello Robert, Nice to finally see a familiar face around here. Everyone else seems to just creep me out.

 

(Jennifer) Yeah, those three guys in black over there giving us the eye. I can’t stand guy’s that don’t have the guts to come over here and talk to us face to face. They just give me the creeps.

 

(Robert) I know what you mean. The guy with the Dragon tattoo is really bothering me too. Well, I guess I’ll see you girls later.

 

(Jordan, Jennifer, Heather) Later!!!

 

Robert leaves the ladies to try and find other people that he might know. He looks around the room and sees another group of three guys standing in the other corner. After he had a closer look he realized that they were his close friends from the Junior League Championships.

 

(Robert (Thinking)) It has been a long time since I’ve seen those guys. I’ll head over there to talk to them.

(Robert (While applauding along with everyone else)) Yeah!!

Outside the Dueling Field.

 

Robert went and joined his the other two people at ring side to cheer on Scott.

(Robert) Toby, I don’t think that they talk that way in Queens.

(Robert) I wish I had qualified earlier! But, enough about me, how’s the duel going?

 

(Toby) Scott just got a unbreakable wall put in his face that he can’t smash.

 

(Robert) huh?

(Robert) Holy Crap! 5800 DEF Points! How is Scott going to beat that. (Thinking) I know that I can get through that no problem but, I don’t know about Scott.

 

(Mark) Don’t you worry over nothing Robert. Scott has this duel hook, line and sinker. You have to remember that Scott is a good strategist and he has already made plans to take this Examiner out.

 

( Robert (worried)) I hope your right about it.

 

 

Back in the Arena.

 

(Scott) I’ll get through your so called defense, I Draw. I Summon “Monk Fighter” in Attack Mode(1300/1000). He, Mr. Examiner, is the key to the Entire equation that is your Deck.

 

(Examiner1(Laughing)) Your telling me that this little monster will beat my Strong “Giant Soldier of Stone”? Your nuts kid!

 

( Scott) Not really. I just have a better strategy that’s all and I’ll Activate the rest of it now by playing “Legendary Black Belt” and “Kaminote Blow”. Now “Monk Fighter” Attack his “Giant Soldier of Stone” with Rock Crushing Punch!

 

Monk Fighter ran at the Giant Soldier of stone and Smashed it with a single punch. The Holograms disappeared and the Duel was over.

 

(Scott) I Win.

 

Scott = 4000LP

Examiner1 = 0000LP

 

(Examiner1) What? How did I lose?

 

(Scott) It was simple. The monk cards, along with their support cards, allows me to destroy my opponents monster and inflict damage equal to that monsters DEF points. You put up a decent defense barrier for most people. Next time, Factor the monks into the equation.

 

(Examiner1) Okay, welcome to Duel Academy.

 

(Scott) Thank you Examiner.

 

As Scott got off the platform Robert noticed that the other duel had wrapped up just as fast as Scott’s had.

 

(Robert (Thinking)) Whoa! I finally might have some competition here after all.

 

Robert, along with Mark and Toby, head towards Scott to congratulate him on his victory.

 

(Toby(while giving Scott a high five)) Man, that move was off the chain dawg!! You made him look like a total poser out there!!

 

(Scott) If you mean that I made him look bad then yes that was “off the Chain”.

 

(Crowler (in the background)) Congratulations to you two for winning! Can we have Marco Pena go to Field A and Dustin go to Field B.

 

(Toby (disappointed)) That Bites, I wanted to go next. I was wanting to show us how we do it in the NYC!

 

(Mark) Really, the last time you said that you didn’t even make it the quarterfinals of the Jr. League championships.

 

Just then Dr. Crowler got on the Microphone again.

 

(Crowler) Now, once you finish your duel, head over to the main registration table so that you can get your Dorm Jackets and Room assignments. As for those on the field…. Duel!
