Very nice. Almost reminds of a script more than a story, although that's not a bad thing.

 

Perhaps a little more on the character's thoughts would be nice, but otherwise, keep it up.

Chapter 3: Duel Academy Qualifiers part 2

 

The Duel Academy entrance Exams are well under way. ½ of the 12 invited duelists have passed and are accepted as students. Dustin, Marco, Jennifer, and Amanda all in Obelisk Blue Dorm while Scott and Robert are in the Ra Yellow Dorm.

 

(Robert Griffin (disappointed)) This bites! I won 5 Jr. League Championships and they put me in Ra! Oh well, you win some you lose some.

 

(Scott) At least you’ll have some company. In my personal opinion, the true best are in Ra Yellow.

 

Just then Crowler come back over the loud speaker.

 

(Crowler) Attention everyone, can you hear me? I’m about to announce who is dueling next.

 

(Robert (Thinking)) Man, does this guy ever shut up?

 

(Crowler) Alright, will Toby Torres go to Field A and Jordan Smith please go Field B.

 

(Robert) Let’s go watch Toby’s Duel.

 

(Scott) No thanks, I want to go watch Jordan duel. I’ve seen Toby crash and burn more than bottle rockets on the 4th of July. Plus Jordan is hot!

 

Scott races to the other arena to watch Jordan’s Duel.

 

(Robert) Well, at least he’s honest. Hey Mark, Mark…… MARK?

 

Robert turns to see Mark talking to Jennifer Hales off in the corner. He tries to get his attention, but Mark is lost in the conversation and he is too interested in Jennifer to hear him.

 

(Robert) Well, I guess it’s just me then.

 

He races to the Arena just as they are about to start

 

(Toby, Examiner2) Duel!

 

Toby = 4000LP

Examiner2 = 4000LP

Meanwhile, coming in from the far end of the Arena, Chancellor Sheppard, Alexis, Syrus and Bastion try to sneak in without anyone noticing.

 

(Sheppard) It’s a Good thing that this place has a lot of back doors. It makes it easier to get around unnoticed.

 

(Alexis) You’re right. It was a good idea to go in the back way.

 

(Syrus) You said it. But, it would be great to meet the new students.

 

(Bastion) Look, there’s Crowler over there. Let’s go find out how the Duels are going.

 

As the group head over to Dr. Crowler, they saw two men stand next to Crowler.

 

(Syrus (Pointing at the people next to Crowler)) Who is that over there with him? Wait… is that Hasselberry?

 

(Alexis (Shocked)) You’re right Syrus. Chancellor Sheppard, why did you hire Hasselberry?

 

(Sheppard) Ms. Fontain wanted to focus more on being the on-campus doctor. After that I decided to hire the guy with the most energy and enthusiasm as I could find. Besides, Jaden said no.

 

(Alexis (shocked and angry) He didn’t tell me about it?

 

(Sheppard) I asked him a few months before you put in your application. He was hoping to have you stay as his manager and not let Blair try to handle both his and Chazz’s schedules.

 

(Alexis (Relived)) Okay. I’ll let him off the hook then. But, who’s the other guy?

 

(Sheppard) He is my 3rd cousin on my mother’s side. His Name is Alfanzo West. He just got his teaching certification and wanted a job at the Academy.

 

(Bastion) I didn’t know you had family?

 

(Sheppard) That was the benefit of being a teacher. You didn’t need to know about my personal life. Now let’s go to Crowler.

 

They continue to walk over to Crowler (who is unaware that they are coming up behind him).

 

(Crowler) Now Hasselberry, Let me make it clear that you are not to run these kids till they’re to ragged understand.

 

Standing in front of him is a man in a Sleeveless purple teacher jacket with a black shirt, pants and combat boots. There is a yellow bandanna tied to his left are that reminds him of the old glory days.

 

(Hasselberry (Thinking)) Tyranno Hasselberry, the new gym teacher at Duel Academy. I hope that these kids are in good shape because they’re going to have to keep up.

 

(Crowler (Annoyed)) Are you listening to me Hasselberry?

 

Just them Sheppard and the group get behind Crowler

 

(Sheppard) Crowler, are you giving the new teachers a hard time?

 

(Crowler (Scared)) No, no, no! I was just telling him what to expect from his new position that’s all.

 

(Sheppard) That better be what you were telling him. Everyone I would like you to meet Alfanzo West. He is my third cousin and he will be our Slifer Red Headmaster as well as our Intro to basic Dueling, and Advanced Traps Teacher.

 

They turn to see a man just as young as they are. He was wearing a yellow dress shirt and black pants.

 

(Alfanzo) It is nice to meet you all. I was hoping to be the Ra Yellow Headmaster, but you can’t win them all right?

 

(Sheppard) Alfanzo, these will be some of your fellow teachers at the Academy. This is Alexis Rhodes, she will be teaching Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Dueling with Warrior monsters as well as Dueling Ethics. Syrus will be teaching Intermediate and Advanced Machines and into to spell cards. Dr. Misawa will be teaching all science Dueling classes as well as Intermediate spell cards.

 

(Bastion, Alexis, Syrus) Hi! It’s nice to meet you Alfanzo.

 

(Sheppard) Well Crowler, how are the Exams going?

 

(Crowler) They’re going well. Out of the first six we have 4 in Obelisk Blue and Two in Ra. I have two more going out to duel now.

 

(Sheppard) Excellent! Now we can get to watch the duels! Who is up next?

 

(Crowler) Jordan Smith and Toby Torres are about to start dueling. Jordan can easily make it into Obelisk Blue. Toby however, His grades are the worst of the group. He’ll be lucky to make it to Ra Yellow or worse; we could have a Slifer Slacker on our hands!

(Examiner2) I’ll go first, Draw. I Summon “Vorse Raider” in Attack Mode (1900/1200)! I also place two cards face down and end my turn.

 

(Toby ((Thinking) so, you want play hard ball? Fine; let’s play!) ) Now it’s my turn, I Draw. I Summon “Elemental Hero Woodsman” in Attack mode (1000/2000)! I now play the “Hero’s Bond” spell card. This allows me to Special Summon two “Elemental Hero” in there name as long as I control an “Elemental Hero” monster. Now Special Summoning, drum roll please, “Elemental Hero Ocean” (1500/1200) and “Elemental Hero Stratos” (1800/300) in attack mode! Next I’ll now activate the effect of Elemental Hero Stratos. When he is Special Summoned, he can destroy any number of Spell/Trap Cards equal to the number of Elemental Hero’s I control besides him, and I count two. Say goodbye to your face down cards!

 

The fans on Stratos’s wing start up and blow the two face down cards away.

 

(Examiner2 ((Thinking) Damn that kid! He took out my face downs with mo sweat at all. I guess I under estimated this guy.) You still can’t attack me, not without losing any life points.

 

(Toby ((Thinking) He must have no clue, I’ve got this easy!) Let’s have a change of scenery; I think I’ll play the Field Spell “Skyscraper”.

 

Large Buildings started to fill the field, blocking the field of view from the outside.

Robert was standing on the outside astonished at the cards that his friend had just played.

 

(Robert) What the… since when did he have an Elemental Hero Deck?

 

(Heather) He won them in a small tournament a few weeks ago.

 

Robert turned to see Heather standing there, watching the duel along side him.

 

(Robert ((Thinking) Whoa, when did she show up? I can’t believe that this beautiful girl is over here with me, Score one for Robert!) Did you say a small tournament? Even I would have heard of a one that had that as a prize ….uh, what was your name again? I didn’t catch it earlier when you were over there with Jordan.

 

(Heather ((Thinking) He must not remember me)) You still have problems with names? If I remember right, it took you three weeks to remember mine when we use to live next door to each other in Houston.

 

(Robert ((Thinking) Wait a minute, how did she know that? I only have problems remembering the names of girls that I like. Let see…. Wait… could it be?)) Heather, is that you? WOW! You look great! Not that you didn’t look great before… wow! How have you been? How was Chicago?

 

(Heather ((blushing) (Thinking) (Wow, he does remember! Yeah!)) Everything’s fine. Now, back to how Toby got those cards.

 

(Robert) Oh yeah, I forgot. ((Thinking) man, this is like we were years ago. I would get distracted by her and loose my train of thought.)

 

(Heather) Anyway, the tournament was so secretive that Pegasus only sent out eight invitations to duelists that were semi-well known that he thought could use some powerful cards. The Elemental Hero cards were the 2nd place prize.

 

(Robert (Confused)) If the Elemental Hero cards weren’t the grand prize, what was?

(Heather (shy and a tad flirty) I’ll show you… If you come watch me Duel? Because I was the Grand Prize winner.

 

(Robert) Sweet, I’m there!

(Toby) And that is game!

 

Toby = 1000LP

Examiner2 = 0000LP

 

(Examiner2 (Scared)) Wow, such raw Power. I’ve…I’ve never seen that before. Welcome to the Academy kid.

 

(Toby) Thanks man!!!

 

Toby races off the platform to see what everyone thought of his duel.

 

(Toby) Hey dawg, what did you think? Was my last move sweet or what?

 

(Robert (Confused)) What last move? The last thing we saw were you playing “Skyscraper” and everything wasn’t visible after that.

 

(Toby) What? Oh well, lets see what Dorm I’m in?

 

Toby turns and runs towards the main registration table.

 

(Robert) Wait Toby…… Damnit, he’s gone. He needs to stop being all excited.

 

(Heather) You can’t blame him, this is the best he has probably done as far a his dueling career is concerned.

 

(Robert) That is true. I hope he isn’t disappointed in what he gets. I wonder who is going to be next to Duel?

 

All of a sudden, as if someone was reading his mind, Dr. Crowler got on the speaker system once more.

 

(Crowler) Alright children; we are expanding the number of duel fields to make room for the other applicants that’ll be coming in later today. Everyone who hasn’t dueled please head to a dueling field and begin.

 

Heather looks around the room with excitement. She is finally going to be able to finally show her deck to the world.

 

(Heather (Thinking)) Now its my time to shine.

 

Heather races up to the top of the dueling arena and activates her duel disk. She loads her deck and faces her Examiner. To her surprise, it was a badly dressed man with a long blond pony tail.

 

(Heather) Who are you?

 

(Crowler) My name is Dr. Crowler. One of our Examiners ended up getting sick and we’re going to have to call in a replacement. However, and the others won’t be here for a half hour. So you’ll be facing me.

 

(Robert) What? That’s nuts…. She’ll get creamed!!

 

(Heather (Thinking) Yes, this will be a true test for my new deck.) Bring it on doctor!

 

(Crowler, Robert) Huh?

 

(Heather) This is my moment to show the world and this school what I’ve got! Let Duel!

 

Crowler = 4000LP

Heather = 4000LP

 

(Heather) Ladies First, I Draw! I’ll start by playing two cards face down. I’ll summon “Mythical Beast Cerberus” in attack mode to end my turn. (1400/1400)

 

(Crowler) Not a bad start, but it’s my move, I Draw. I play “Magnet Circle LV2”. This allows me to special summon a level 2 or lower Machine-Type monster from my hand, and I choose “Ancient Gear” which allows me to Special Summon another one.

 

As two little gears with arms appear on the field, Heather starts to laugh.

 

(Crowler (confused)) What’s so funny?

 

(Heather) I guess I’ll have to thank you Doc. Thanks to your spell card, you activated my monsters special ability. You see, every time one of us activates a spell card, my beast get 500 ATK points (1400/1400) < (1900/1400).

 

(Crowler (smirking)) Impressive move; but that will not save you! I sacrifice my two “Ancient Gear” monsters to summon my “Ancient Gear Golem” (3000/3000)! Now I’ll…

 

(Heather) Not so fast, I activate my face down card called “Threatening Roar”. Sorry Dr. Crowler, It looks like you can’t hurt me this turn.

 

(Crowler) Fine, I place two cards face down and I end my turn.

 

(Heather) Good now its my turn, I draw. I play “Summoner’s Art” this allows me to pull a level 5 or higher normal monster and add it to my hand. Next I’ll play “Pot of Greed” which allows me to draw two cards and I’ll activate “Ancient Rules”, which allows me to special summon a level 5 or higher normal monster from my hand. I Summon the “Dark Magician” in attack mode!

 

The entire room was in awe when they saw the Dark magician, dressed in red, appear on her side of the field.

 

(Crowler (in shock and angry)) What is the meaning of this! How dare you use one of the rarest cards ever created! This must be an ILLEGAL card!

 

(Heather) I promise you that this is not illegal. I won this card from a tournament held by Pegasus himself. If you want to make trouble, talk to him. Now I’ll finish my turn. I play “Dark Magic Attack” and “Lightning Vortex”! These cards allow me to wipe your field clean and make my final attack and give my Cerberus a healthy power boost, which by my count is 2500 ATK points (1900/1400) < (4400/1400)! Now Dark Magician Attack the good doctor with Dark Magic Attack!

 

(Crowler) This is going to sting!

 

Crowler = 1500LP

Heather = 4000LP

 

(Heather) Now Cerberus, finish it with Magical Claw Strike!

 

As Heathers monster struck Dr. Crowler and his life points went to zero, the duel disks shut down and the duel was over. A look of Happiness appeared across the face of the newest member of the Academy. She began to race towards the one person who she knew in the crowd.

 

(Heather) Did you see that Robert! I won! I believe that I beat Dr. Crowler on the first try! (Jumps into Robert’s arms and gives him a hug) That was the greatest duel of my life! ( Thinking( Oh no, what have I just done! I can’t let him know how I feel about him. What if he doesn’t feel the same?))

 

(Robert (Blushing)) Congratulations Heather, well done. (Thinking (This feels awesome! I’m being hugged by the girl I have had a crush on for years! I hope that she doesn’t realize that I like her or this could be bad, very bad.))

 

After they look into each others eyes, the let go and try and brush it off as if it never happened. At that very moment Dr. Crowler got back onto the Loud Speaker.

 

(Crowler) Congratulations! You 12 are the first of many Freshman that will be entering the Academy this year. Now go claim your plane ticket and your Duel Academy PDA’s. This will be your way of knowing the school and your class assignments. After that you’re free to go.

 

All 12 duelists head to the main registration table to pick up the last of the items that they needed to get. Robert, Heather, Mark, Toby, Jennifer, Jordan and Scott start to head towards the door.

 

(Robert) Let see here. The departure time will be at 12:00 pm at the San Francisco International Airport in three days. I guess I have to pack quickly.

 

(Jordan) Only three days? I need to go shopping.

 

(Scott) Why shop when you can go sight seeing. Who wants to go see the Golden Gate Bridge?

 

(Jordan) I'll go with you Scott.

 

(Mark) That sounds awesome! Would you like to go Jennifer? We could make it a double date.

 

(Jennifer) Let’s go as friends first. There is no need to move that fast. How about you guys?

 

(Toby) Nope. I plan to chill for a while before we start at the Academy.

 

(Robert) I’m sorry but I can’t. I’ve got to work on my deck some more. Maybe I’ll go next time.

 

(Heather) It’s the same here too.

 

(Robert) Well, see you guys later.

 

 

Every one went their own separate way as they exited the building. The only one that was left at the door was Travis, who starts to make a call.

On the other side of the planet a man cloaked in black answers his cell phone.

 

(???) Hello?

 

(Travis) My master, it’s your humble servant Travis.

 

(???) Ah, Travis. I was wondering when your call was coming. What is your report?

 

(Travis) You were right master, 4 of the top 10 duelists on our list were there today to audition for the Academy.

 

(???) Excellent! You did well my servant. Keep an eye on them. I’ll tell you when we need to make our move.

 

(Travis) That’s understood Sir. Travis out.

 

After Travis hung up, the mysterious man addresses five other that are dressed in a similar fashion

 

(???) My brothers and sisters, the prey has finally been found! The hunt for their card will begin soon. The Rare Hunters will become a power in this world once again!

 

Who is this mysterious Leader? Why have the Rare Hunters returned and how's Travis involved?
