I Heard you like Hand Traps

I like Mind Crush. Don't you like Mind Crush? Who doesn't like Mind Crush? We all like Mind Crush. But it doesn't work on first turn, nor on cards your opponent intends to play from their Extra Deck or Graveyard. Or even Deck. So, I made a card that works sort of like a Mind Crush in that you have to predict your opponent's plays before they happen.

Declare 1 card name: Discard this card from your hand; Cards with that name and their effects cannot be used or placed face-up on the field until the End Phase. Cards on the field or cards targeted before this card was activated are not affected (including face-down cards).

This is a nifty little guy. He may not look super powerful at first but I actually am a bit worried about him being over powered. He stops non-targeting searches like Rescue Rabbit and Tour Guide, except you have to know which dinos they have left or if they have a Sangan or more Tour Guides to search. Or heck, a broww. He does not really protect you from traps in any way (I suppose except for hand-traps) because they can still be set, and if they are already set, they can be activated. Same with quick-play spells like Book of Moon. He doesn't stop things like Monster Reborn though, that target, because if I let that happen he'd be too easy to use.

He also can protect you from hand traps, but I'm not sure if that is good or bad. They do need some way of negating them that is useful in other ways as well.

Your thoughts?

I don't think it needs to have the placed faced up. Used means any use of it, so it can't be activated, or summoned or anything like that.

I think its actually quite brilliant. Its a better version of effect vieler. Which, as we know is a staple right now, but more than that, it can be used in an offensive manner. So it doesn't have the restriction vieler does. And yes it might get pulled into a deck to prevent Gorz or anything like that, but it does requite thought of what card to declare in the right situation.

So no, i don't think its OP. I think its a version of vieler that wouldn't be format specific, becuase you could counter anything with it with more ease. Rather than Vieler only be helpful in your opponents turn. I may be wrong, and i am probably over looking something stupid. The fact it isn't Dark or light means it it requires thought to use over vieler in some decks, so it isn't a complete replacement either...

Yeah, its pretty damn good in my book.

Yea, actually it does, due to derp ruling. The card can be non-inherently Special Summoned if it was Special Summoned by an effect other than its own without being "used."
