Mirror Force has always been neglected alot past formats, since being limited makes it harder to top it and alot of decks still existed that were able to blow your opponent field up or can easily recycle their cards from their grave. But since Inzektors got wrecked badly and Chaos Dragons loses alot of power and Mirror Force is moving to 2, it becomes much easier to use Mirror Force.

tbh, we need to ban some staple/too-good-generic cards. There's so little variation in spell/trap lineups these days. Both Solemns need to be banned, for one.

Solemn Warning for sure, but I like Judgement at 1

I don't know. Staple cards are, per se, staple for the game. Gives beginners a starting point, gives formats stability and generally are there to support one of the pinnacles of deckbuilding (power, consistency and speed) without taking up vast amounts of design space. I don't know about you, Griff, but I like them there.

Most TCGs have very little variation anyway. If we take YGO's majority-staples, and excluding any cards that are sometimes overlooked in a small amount of decks like BtH and Book of Moon (12-13 cards: 2-3 MST, 2 Duality, 1 Heavy, 1 Dark Hole, 1 Heavy Storm, 2 Warning, 2 TT, 1 Judgment):

12.5/40 or 31.25% = YGO (using average number of staples)
24/60 or 40% = MtG (using average number of lands)
30/60 or 50% = Pokémon (using average of trainers)

Don't ask me about Vanguard. I'm much too misinformed about the TCG. Really, YGO has a lot of deckbuilding freedom (outside of the fact that only 3-5 or so decks every format are viable).

Well, crap. If this is going at two, that really says something about how it plays lately, doesn't it. :(
I've watched the original Yugioh, where Force inflicted damage as well as destroying all monsters and not just the ones in Attack.
I'm being random, but hey, I miss when Force was better than it is now.

Yeah, I kinda get your point, but you also have a lot of Extra-Deck staples.

Personally, I wish that there were a few monster-staples (IDK, is Veiler or Sangan ever a true staple? Stuff like that.) and less spell/trap staples. There just feels like there's usually so little choice when trying to design a decent spell/trap lineup =(

I'd ban the Solemns for sure, that alone would give nice breathing room, IDK if we need 3 MST/Night Beam either. If people are desperate, Dust Tornado exists and is a bit less useful for OTKs.
