Yugiman64
In the Dawn of the Duel arc in the original Yugioh, Yugi used two cards. Silent Magician LV0 and Silent Swordsman LV0. I've decided to make a few more cards based off of them. Any comments? I'll post more as I make more.
Lore: This card cannot be normal summoned or set. This card can only be special summoned by removing from play 1 "Silent Rebirth" and 1 "Silent Death" in your graveyard. This card's attribute is also treated as Light. Once per turn, select one "Silent" monster you control. The selected monster gains 500 attack and one LV for each light or dark monster on the field until the endphase. Can only be special summoned by "Moonbearer Awakening". This card's attack is equal to the attack gained by "Moonbearer Awakening". Once per turn, remove from play 1 "Silent" monster you control. Yugiman64
No reviews? Does no one like Yugi Muto anymore? I know I'm not that famous of a card maker, but seriously. Pay some respect to the king of games.
krypt12
i suppose i'll jump on this. We all love the King of Games but some of these cards need serious tune-ups. I'll start from the top. First, "LV" monster's Level correspond to the "LV" in their name. Armed Dragon LV 3 has 3 stars. Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV 8 has 8 stars. So you technically cant have 0 stars but for the sake of the cards, let's say you could. First, they shouldn't have 1000 ATK/DEF. Waaaaaaay to high for a LV monster with no stars. Having them gain 500 isn't too bad in some cases but it is way too high for these guys. Another thing, the Silent Swordsman series deals with being unneffected by spells whereas the one you made has nothing to do with that. Silent Magician LV 4 is a 4-star with 1000 ATK/DEF already and uses a spellcounter theme (that has a max to it), but yours does not. Moving on to the fairy and archer. They have decent effects. I would personally love to have a monster that gets stronger through attacks but they seem to lack their uniqueness. They aren't bad effect, the just seem bland. Archer may be a bit too strong though. Maybe give him a max and have him level up once he hits that max. Fairy seems more like a defender to me, but that's just my opinion. .... Now that im writing here, change their 'LV's to either 3 or 4. 0 doesn't cut it. I'd like to see the bigger forms. Moving on. -sigh- I am tired of seeing Chaos monsters. Silent Darkangel is broke. Nuff said. ... Moving on to the Xyzs. For Silent Weapons Master LV0... take off the "LV0". He doesn't need it. As for the effect, he's a little busted until you fix the other cards. Imagine using 2 Archers... he'll gain a permanant 1000 every time he attacks. His bonus ability (at the moment because of the wording) is useless. None of the cards state how long that have to be on the field for. Take a look a Pyro Clock of Destiny. It simply moves the turn counter up by one and does nothing else. Since none of the monsters have anything to do with being on the field for so long, i dont think that it is a worthy effect. You can reword the monsters but word it so you dont inject steroids into them. :3 Mage sux. Silent Spellbook. ... So... your Magician gains an instant 1k. Seems legit. No, it needs to be toned down a bit. It'll gain 1000 atk each time they draw a card. That's a bit scary. Turn Jump. See explanation for Silent Sword Master (LV0). Needs to be a quick-play if it wants to see play. Silent Rebirth. It's first effect makes Poison of the Old Man seem (more ;b ) boss. It's second effect is kinda OP'd. Summon a Horus LV6/ Silent Swordsman LV5 with 3300 ATK... It would make Allure Queens awesome but everything else, mean. Lower the ATK gain. Silent Death is too strong. Simply targeting a Silent monster to nuke the field during the End Phase AND burn the oppoent for each is too much, even if it IS only 100. I like what you are doing here but try to make it a bit more realistic to the actual Silent monsters. And if it seems like im just hating its probably because im a Brooklyn Rage fan. :b
Yugiman64
I should have put this in the description. I'm making these cards as if the real Silent Magician and Silent Swordsman weren't made. Actually, I had forgotten about the real versions when making these cards. I copied the Silent Magician and Swordsman from the anime versions, and made the rest of the cards up. Silent Spellbook's effect only works for one turn. The LV0 is just to add to the archetype of having them be called LV0 and not being that level. If cards are treated as if they'd been on the field for a certain number of turns, then that means that many standby phases have passed. Get the idea. Granted these cards are a little OP'd, I'll admit to that. Silent Death deals damage to BOTH players. With Silent Mage's effect, your opponent draws three cards, and it gains 1500 attack because of Silent Magician's effect. Also as a note to them having LV in their names, they will not get higher leveled forms. I will not make higher level forms because there own effect let's them gain LVs on their own. The cards in the anime were based off of Yugi Muto himself. The monsters start off weak and feeble(in terms of Attack) (like Yugi Muto), then they get stronger and stronger over time (like Yugi). That's why I didn't call these "Silent" cards in the title. I changed it too Yugi's archetype because their attack gaining abilities reflect off of Yugi Muto's growth during the series. Sora1499
Okay, let's get this started: Silent Swordsman;- a bit simple and bland, and not all too usable, but it's not an inherently bad card. Silent Mage- Same deal as Swordsman. Silent Fairy- This card confused me a bit. Does it gain an Atk boost forever? How long does it keep its Atk boost? Does it gain Atk immediately when it attacks or after it attacks? Silent Archer- Again, how long does it keep its Atk? Does it gain Atk at the start of the damage step or after damage calculation? Silent Darkangel- Broken. The Atk boost is too high. I'd recommend that you make its effect apply to monsters on the field only. Silent Devil- Broken. Cut out the effect that gives it 500 atk whenever a monster is sent to the graveyard. Silent Destroyer- I would never use this card ever. Silent Witch- Not bad. Not special, but not bad. Silent Reaper- Broken. Make its effect apply to when a cards are discarded, i.e. "When a card(s) are discarded, increase its Atk by 500" without the individual atk gain. Silent Ninja- Not bad. Silent Demon- Not bad. Silent Mermaid- A bit OP'd, but not broken. Make its effect only activate either once per turn, or during the turn in which it was summoned. Silent Shark- OP'd. You've basically got a 4000 beatstick with only 1 tribute. Nix the effect that gives it 1000 Atk for the monster tributed. Silent Moonbearer- A bit underpowered given the cost. But not bad. Silent Black Dragon- Standard card. You could elaborate on its effect more for creativity, but it's fine as it is, however bland. Silent Samurai- Make its effect activate only once per turn. This is mostly for clarification issues, but otherwise it has potentially infinite atk. Its effect seems cool though. Silent Bo Master- My favorite card in the set so far. I like it. Silent Moonwolf- Seems balanced. It allows you to make a gamble and force your opponent's monsters in to attack mode so that you can smash em with the other silent monsters. My new favorite card in the set. Sielnt Deathknight- This card is broken. But before I delve into that, make it a Fiend or Warrior-Type. It looks nothing like a bird. The card is obliviously broken. It is LITERALLY invincible. The only way to balance it is to banish it when it's removed from the field when it was summoned with its effect, and only allow it to be special summoned from the graveyard during the end phase or next standby phase. Spellbook- I wouldn't run it. If you make it correspond to any silent monster it'd be a lot more versatile. Turn Jump- 3000 Atk in 1 turn? OP'd. Make the boost last only until the end phase or make it jump 3 turns into the future. Moonbearer Awakening- Give Moonbearer the original Atk of the tributed monsters as well. Orb of the Moon- Moonbearer has no LV in its name, so you should add a LV in the name. Other than that, good. Silent Evolution- It's like Assault Mode Activate for silents. I like it, but I feel like the summoned level 5 monsters should have effects that reference their level 4 counterparts. Silent NIght- Doesn't give you much of a boost. In addition to its primary effect, add "when a silent mosnter is summoend, increase its Atk by 500 and its LV by 1." Call of the Dead- ... Transformation- Make it an equip spell card. Good concept though. Reborn- Not enough of a cost. Make it be '1000 LP' OR '1 card from your hand' Silent Xyz- Balanced card. Except it would only be used for a few of teh Xyz cards. Sielnt Awakening- Oooooooohhhh... In that case, make Devil level 8 or something. Original fixes still apply. Silent Rebirth- The first effect will never be used. Ever. 2nd effect is a bit OP'd, so make it 500 atk and 1 LV. Silent Death- The epitome of broken. Make it TRIBUTE, not select, a number like 3 or 4 silent monsters. Silent Heart- This card gives you a 2nd chance, which I like. However, to balance it a bit better, make the summoned monster have its effects negated. Silent Shield- Negate Attack for Silents. Totally unoriginal. Weapons Master- This applies to all of the Xyz: make it so that you can SELECT the effect that it gains. The secondary is pretty standard, but useful nonetheless. Mage- 3 cards? Your opponent will MAUL you with that draw. I know you gain the Atk boost, but make it either 1 or 2 cards. For the controller's sake. Angel- To the gain Atk effect, add 'excluding this card', otherwise you're summonign a mosnter with a potential 2500 Atk for little cost. Assassin- My computer isn't loading it properly, but that's cuz my computer sucks. Notes for the set as a whole: Rarely in the set do I hear "special summon". This means that the set will drag, and your opponent will run your ass over with Xyz and synchro cards. This ultimately means that the archetype is a low-tier archetype as far as power goes. Also, these effects or a bit... bland. The set would've been better if you'd spiced it up a bit. I mean, each mosnter kjust feels like a carbon copy of the last, differing only in the way by which it gains Atk. Also, there aren't enough cards that destroy by card effects. Maybe you could work in a destruction effect within a couple of the cards. All in all: I hate to be the pretentious jerk, but this set isn't very well made. It had flashed of brilliance, and it has potential, but I don't think you used it very well. Overall, 5/10. With fixes, 6/10. Tips: I'd go back, wipe these cards' effects clean off, then reimagine them completely. I think that you could do a lot with these cards.
DrunkenSage69
I agree with the majority of what sora has said. The set needs some tune-ups with their effects and it seems very slow at first glance. However, I do like the pictures you found for some of your Xyz monsters. Yugiman64
Silent Fairy and Silent Archer gain their effects when an attack is declared, and they keep the attack (Archer) or defense (fairy) forever. I'm getting some custom art today, so I'll work on them when I get the art, but in the meanwhile, I'll think about what I can do to the archetype. Sora1499
That sounds like a good idea. I'll be looking forward to the re-imagined Silent monsters!
Yugiman64
oh, and turn jump would only be a 1500 attack gain, since the 6 turns are your opponents as well, unless you have "Silent Night" on the field, then it's 3000
