Mehmani
The video is on Youtube, when I last checked (it's 14 minutes long). Basically, a Coptic Christian called Nakoula Basseley Nakoula made a film about Muhammad, Prophet of Islam. He made the film with the intention to shock and irritate, although his point is a simple one: Islam is disgusting. And surely, he should have a right to express that view? Because he was arrested, although I don't think anyone is sure of the charges. Yankee
Yet another case of a situation blown way out of proportion. It was shown only to 10 people. Obviously, the director/viewers were hardcore Christians, and it can be assumed that said Christians were anti Muslim. Sure, it's despicable, and the film simply wrong and stupid. However, this does not warrant the reaction that Muslim people have had. 10 people caused all this? I'm sorry, but Christians, and especially Jews, have had far more people bash their religion, and their God. When only 14 people do it, it's not something to riot about. It's something to shrug off, especially since these 10 people are most assuredly unimportant, racists/idiots.
Tentacruel
People who made the video are idiots, but people do this all the time and no one gets arrested. I think some of it has to do with (and I'm sort of quoting Mihails on this), the fact that many Muslim countries don't have the same kind of freedom of speech that other areas do so they're not as equipped to handle this sort of thing.
I'm sorry, but Christians, and especially Jews, have had far more people bash their religion, and their God.
Just for admitting that it happens. A lot of people I've talked to are under this impression that right wing Christians control all the media outlets.
.Rai
It's the modern situation where anyone is too scared to insult Islam out of fear. An English teacher was telling me something similar involving Richard Dawkins, basically boiling down to he can say that religious faith is a delusion (apart from Islam). Obviously, it's awful to insult anyone's faith for no valid reason, which makes you pretty ignorant (and/or racist).
And yet the reason why Christians/Jews don't get nearly as offended is that Christian and Jewish scripture permits depictions of Jesus/God/YHWH, while Islam does not do the same for Muhammed/Allah. I don't condone insulting religion on any basis at all, but the simple fact of the matter is that Muslims have a stronger cultural prerogative to get upset at something like this. It's also why they're more incensed about the "Western world" moving in on their space, in that their faith through jihad requires active struggle and proselytization against non-Muslims, an action which the Western world suppresses and degrades. (If anyone who's actually Muslim would like to correct me, feel free. This is what I've understood through my studies.)
ihop
Muslims are so easily offended it's almost painful, I remember a teacher got sacked and tried for calling a teddy bear "Mohammed", which is ridiculous as surely nobody would complain if someone called it "Jesus". The Islam faith need to learn to take jokes/criticism.
Lonk
The guy who made this video was obviously so full of spite and hatred that his own church denounced him and any associations with the video. Also, I believe that the Muslims can use violence because the Qua'ran doesn't say anything against doing so. Maybe it is a cultural thing to be allowed to be violent. SpectralMaliceX
The guy who made this was a christian and resorted to slander because he was butthurt for some reason, the way that the muslims dealt with it however is pure idiocy, I mean seriously do you need to set your own flags on fire to get the american flag to burn? And they say s*** doesn't burn. Religious believes are one of the biggest causes of wars so we should ban all religion as we know it and unite under the way of MLP:FIM? You know that sounds good I usually hate americans, but now I'll love and tolerate the crap out of you guys.
Lunar Origins
There are no valid reasons to hate a country's people, SpectralMalice. We haven't done anything to you. I haven't done anything to you. I would resort to my saying 'out of sight, out of mind', but... burning the U.S. flag and chanting 'death to Americans' just makes me scared. I haven't done anything...

Agro
Religious believes are one of the biggest causes of wars so we should ban all religion as we know it and unite under the way of MLP:FIM?
Yes. Definitely not land, power, and wealth. I once believed this too, but in reality, the idea that banishment of religion would help the world is idiotic, especially considering how many people's ideals are based on their religion. To ban it would be to punish those of us who don't use religion for malevolent purposes, which, I should point out, is the majority of those who practice it. Sure it causes disputes, but banning religion won't change that. People ALWAYS find things to squabble about. Unless you think banning race, ideology, and the wealth gap is possible. Religion may cause bad things, but it has done a lot, or rather, is doing a lot, of good in the world. Whether you want to believe it or not. And this coming from an agnostic. FTW (For The Wynn)
There's also another possibility. I'm sure this movie wasn't too well known a week or so ago. So, how did it spread so quickly? A group that springs to mind to spread it to cause protest against the US in the Middle East would be Al Qaeda. And I have heard rumors of them firing military-grade weaponry at the various embassies. They also control a majority of the world's oil reserves, so if they decide to stop shipping to the US and countries affiliated with it...well, we would all be in quite a tough spot, wouldn't we? That's just a speculation. If that's the case, the movie was probably more of a rallying point than anything else.

Agro
Looks like we're gonna have to solve this the old fashioned internet way. We need to make an equally as absurd and insulting video called the "Innocence of Christians". That will literally solve every problem.
.Spock
Religion is essentially a vicious circle. Each religion lashes out at each other in a chain to figure out whose deity or ideals are 'correct'. No one will ever know simply because a lot of those deities or ideals cannot be contacted. Of course it is far more complicated than I'm making it out to be, but you get the message.
Darth Revan of the Sith
I couldn't care less what this movie is about. I Honestly don't care for a second. The man is a bigot and an obvious retard who has absolutely no regard for any of the main tenants of making a good film. This film had one premier at one theater in the US and only ten people saw it. And yet it has caused all this controversy. This is such a pointless discussion. This should never have gotten popular. This should never have been recognized. And yet now it is a worldwide debate and now everybody knows about it.
.Spock
Yet it did, Izaya. So quit whinging about how it shouldn't be popular and making rage-filled posts about how you don't care when you blatently do.

I was pointing out how all of this could have been avoided if people just ignored it. It did not have to get as popular as it did and now we lost four people because of it. I am pointing out that the best thing to do is let this die. How about shut up instead? Instead of sounding like a butthurt jackass by going "HEY SHUT UP! I DISAGWEE WIT U!"
