This thread is to "upgrade" some underused Naturia monsters. I'm willing to hear your input on these or other monsters. Their text is
short so old and new lore will be posted.

Monsters for your field:
OLD EFF: When your opponent Normal Summons a monster: This card gains 300 ATK until the End Phase.

NEW EFF: When your opponent Summons: This card gains 300 ATK until the end of its next battle.

HOW: Guardian never did very much. Slowing down Ultimate Offering OTKs? I guess? It was, at best, a 1900 blocker who could be face-up for Exterio's Fang. There's a better alternative from Epic Dawn, but Strawberry is lame outside of slow Battle Pack détente. The main problem is that the boost couldn't be used.
Retrained Guardian is still responsive, but it's more effective at punishing your opponent for swarming. The boosts last until the next time Guardian battles, so if you run over Giant Rat, it hits 1900; Rescue Rabbit and Sabersaurus leave it at 2200; and after three Summons (the usual number for a Synchro or Xyz), it ties with Shi En. It's not amazing, but it works against minor Extra Deck bosses.

OLD EFF: This card can only declare an attack during a turn that your opponent activates the effect of a Spell, Trap or Effect Monster Card.

NEW EFF: This card can only attack if your opponent activated a card or effect while this card was face-up on the field. Your opponent cannot target "Naturia" monsters you control for attacks, except "Naturia Spiderfang".

HOW: Unless your opponent used Veiler or D-Prison on another Naturia, Spiderfang would never attack. If they did, you got a 2100 attacker for the turn, but if you had another Naturia monster you might as well Synchro.
New Spiderfang still needs a trigger, but the attacking ability is permament so even a Duality opens the gates. The second ability combos with Antjaw, Fruitfly, Marron or Vein/Sunflower for long-term gains.

OLD EFF: Each time your opponent activates a Spell or Trap Card, all face-up "Naturia" monster(s) you control gain 500 ATK until the End Phase.

NEW EFF: Once per turn, when your opponent activates a card or effect on the field: You can negate the activation and return that card from the field to the hand, then all "Naturia" monsters you control gain 500 ATK and DEF.

HOW: Tulip dies fast. Even if your opponent used 2 cards before attacking, Tulip would have 1600 ATK. Like Spiderfang, there was no way to use the boost unless you got lucky.
Negating an effect on the field for free is powerful even if your opponent gets to keep the card, and they won't always get to because it can negate things like Rescue Rabbit and Gear Gigant X. It can short out Traps and insure you against Starlight Road. You can bounce an MST just for the boost if you want. And it can negate and bounce Mandatory Trigger Effect monsters like Caius.

OLD EFF: None

NEW EFF: The Synchro Summon of this monster cannot be negated. Your opponent cannot negate Summons, activations, attacks, or effects. This card's effect cannot be negated.

XX-Saber Gottoms is a Level 9 EARTH Synchro with 3100 ATK that can be made with a Tuner and any number of EARTH monsters. Leodrake may be a Beast, and he may be a Naturia, but why run him without an effect? Gottoms can sacrifice itself for a discard if you want.
Refurbished Leodrake is immune to Rai-Oh, Laggia, Warning, Judgment and Skill Drain, and all your other stuff is too after you get him out. He's not immune to D-Prison or Torrential, so the 3 monsters it takes to get him out might not be worth it. But he works in a niche, and that's enough for me.
Monsters who work outside the field:
OLD EFF: When your opponent draws a card(s) outside of their Draw Phase, you can send this card from the field to the Graveyard to draw 2 cards.

NEW EFF: When your opponent activates an effect to add a card(s) from their Deck to the hand (including by drawing): You can send this card to the Graveyard from your hand or field; draw 2 cards.

WHY: Original effect? Slow and ineffective. You gotta keep it alive, or Set it and hope the opponent rams it and draws in Main Phase 2. Most Decks won't trigger its effect at all, leaving you to hope you can Bribe something and run off of that.
Revised effect? Massively powerful. It's a Pot of Greed on your opponent's turn and it works against a huge range of cards, from Hyper Librarian to Spellbook of Secrets. Duality? Instant +1. Emergency Call? +1! Hanzo? Plus one! This works in Naturia and in everything else.

OLD EFF: When a face-up "Naturia" monster you control is selected as an attack target, you can send this face-up card you control to the Graveyard to negate that attack and end the Battle Phase.

NEW EFF: When a face-up "Naturia" monster you control is targeted for an attack: You can send this card to the Graveyard from your hand or field; end the Battle Phase.

HOW: And here's a -1. Originally it could Sac itself for defense like Cyber Valley, but you'd still be out a card. In most cases D-Prison or Wall of Thorns would work better. But this revision means defense for Bamboo Shoot and Beast, and it doesn't need to be Summoned. It can also serve the combo purposes of revised Spiderfang.

OLD EFF: If the effect of a "Naturia" monster you control was activated during this turn, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand).

NEW EFF: When the effect of a "Naturia" monster is activated: You can Special Summon this card from your hand.

HOW: Originally this worked like Cyber Dragon: only on your turn, only during the Main Phase. That ability has been removed and replaced with a Quick Effect that laughs at Torrential Tribute and Bottomless by resolving as Chain Link 2+ and forcing them to miss the timing. It works fantastically with new Ragweed and Tulip to reshape your opponent's turn, and makes amusing combos with Cosmobeet.
What do you think? Particularly about Ragweed?
