Artorigus' Singles Archive [4/?]

Recommended Posts

Well hello YCM. I am going to be keeping a little archive of some singles I make. Some of the cards may support one another or already existing cards, but will not be part of a custom set. Constructive criticism and OCG correction is appreciated.

Card List:
EN001: Thunder Sniper
EN002: Ironclad Defender
EN003: False Synchro
EN004: Kujira the Atlantean King (NEW/HELP!)

Can be Special Summoned(from Hand) if your Normal Summon 2 or more Thunder-Type monsters in the same turn. Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can return 1 Thunder-Type monster on your side of the field to your hand; select 1 face-up monster on your opponent's side of the field. The selected monster's effect is negated and cannot attack or change Battle Positions until your opponent's next End Phase. Card effects cannot be activated in response to this card's effect.

Can be Special Summoned(from Hand) if you control 2 or more face-down Defense Position monsters. As long as this card is face-up on the field, your opponent cannot select another monster as an attack target. This card can attack in Defense Position, if it does, apply its ATK points for Damage Calculation.

Banish 1 Tuner monster and 1 non-Tuner monster from your Graveyard. Special Summon 1 Synchro Monster from your Extra Deck with a total Level is equal to the combined Level of the banished monster. The Special Summoned monster's effect is negated and cannot attack this turn. The Special Summoned monster is banished when it leaves the field.

You can Tribute 3 Level 3 or lower WATER, Sea Serpent-Type monsters; Special Summon this card from your hand or Graveyard. If this card is Special Summoned by another card effect, negate its effect. You can Tribute 1 Level 3 or lower Sea Serpent monster; Destroy 1 monster on your opponent's side of the field, effects cannot be activated in response to this effect. If this is the only card you control: You can banish; Special Summon up to 3 Level 3 or lower Sea Serpent monsters from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard.
---
I need some help here. Are there too many effects? I feel that there are.

I'm kind of confused about the first card: Card effects cannot be activated in response to this effect. Does that mean that you could change it's effect by a Spell/Trap/Card Effect after the effect has been activated? Otherwise not much to say here, good card.

The second card, I'm not too sure about. It's nice that it can be SS if you control 2 Face-downs, but I don't see that happening too often. The fact that it can attack in Defence Position is interesting, I havn't seem many that can do that, not sure if it should have a cost since your opponent wouldn't be able to destroy it easily and it can still attack.

Well the second card is supposed to be a better version of Total Defense Shogun. In a Rock deck, or something along those lines, Ironclad Defender would easily be able to be SS as well as in a Burn Deck...although I don't really see what use he would have in a burn deck, lol.

As for Thunder Sniper, the last effect, means that cards cannot be chained its effect.

New card added.

I feel sorry for thunder sniper in this heavy Xyz time its effect is almost mute. That would be a mild annoyance to the opponent nowadays. However being able to SS himself like that makes him a possible candidate to be ran in the thunder family decks.

Ironclad Defender...when you attack you will always use your attack points for damage calculation so there wouldn't be a real need for his defense to drop. That and in the rock deck he is supposed to be in its sounds like he promotes stalling. So I'm not the biggest fan of that.

False synchro would be great if it were just the graveyard. Otherwise I wouldn't really approve of a controlled double mill, set-up that just blocks your opponent and set-up beatsticking/stalling walls for you.

I am still trying to catch up to the metagame, so I looked up the Thunder Family Decks you mentioned and I think I have made him more friendly to that archetype altogether.

I thought because I stated 'apply its DEF -500 for Damage Calculation.' in its effect that it would bypass that problem. Any idea how to fix it?

Changed it to just graveyard.

Thanks for the constructive criticism! I really appreciate it.

Ironclad Defender: Well you would just make his attack 1900 and drop the whole -500 effect.

Atlantean King: Problem is that he's really not that much better than the already 3 sac Atlantean boss monster. He just his monster while the other hits backrow and 9/10 you want to kill backrow. I say this only because the last line with the special summoning 3 monsters for no reason is overpowered and should be omitted.

Ironclad Defender: Hmm...will have to think about it.

Atlantean King: Yeah, I created him just because I wanted to use the picture, not much thought was put behind it. It needs something original...
