Zazubat
So, I have been getting into YGO recently again, but so much has changed, I didn't even know about synchros and Xyzs till very recently, there are so many new deck types and my old deck was just bad. I just don't know what I should do to get back into the game. I tried building my own decks, but I am getting pwned left and right, and I don't want to just find some online, that seems like cheating. What suggestions do you have to someone that would like to get back into but don't know where to start. I'm using a Gishki deck right now, and last I used Alien & Worm decks respectively. Thanks in advance. In case you want to play, I'm just Zaziuma on DN. PM me and we will work something out
jabber2033
First of all, I suggest reading this for tips. Second, I also suggest buying 3 copies of one of the most recent structure decks. They are the following: Gates of the Underworld Dragons Collide Samuari Warlords Realm of the Sea Emperor Just build a 40-card deck out of them, throw in some staples, and you're ready to play. Just pick a deck or theme you like and start from there. You'll need to pool out a bit of money for a few extra cards, such as Extra Deck stuff, but for the most part, you should be fine. gimmepie
When I'm needing to learn new things (like when I got back into this) I actually find labelling your duel as a test and then going up against a far more experienced person can be helpful. They often have great tips. Secondly you should start with a simple deck type and work your way up to more complicated builds. Third, research on here or the wiki or something how new card types etc work and any deck types you're interested in (you don't have to follow what they say to a T.) Fourth practice. For IRL do what jabber says.
Agro
Start off with whatever jabber told you. I don't suggest buying Realm of the Sea Emperor, since that deck's best use is with a ton of other new cards that will actually cost you a pretty penny. And I also suggest that you actually do look into the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Decks section for ideas, hell even netdeck. You'll only know what you want to play if you test out some decks. Just remember to read every card and know what it does. To become better at the game and learn something, also check out the Rulings thread here in TCG. Zazubat
I'm not really interested in IRL stuff since there's nobody to really play with where I live, but I will take in your suggestions, and look into it when I get the time. Me_Gustos
Go darkworlds. Most people who get back into YGO or are new to YGO either go with six sams or darkworlds. Darkworlds all the way.
ihop
If you're only gonna be playing on DN money is no object so I suggest you play Rabbit as it involves very little skill.
This Account is Unplayable
Dark Worlds is one of the worst decks to recommend to a newbie because of all the interactions. I see so many newbies f*** up with them way too often. Read up how new cards work. Test decks (preferably proven ones) on DN, and if you need to ask someone on here to give you a practice game or two so you can warm up to the controls and the mechanics. idk the current meta so I won't recommend any decks
Jord200
If your just getting back into things, I suggest maybe Rabbit. Or Gishki, since thats what my GF used when she got back into the game. Also there are a few cards you'll probably want to have in your deck(s) 95% of the time. Zazubat
I am already using Gishki, but thanks anyways, I might try Rabbit somewhen.
