Fancy name because otherwise I'd have to advertise it as a 'Stories I'll never Write'-esque titled thread. I've postponed my main YGO story because it's basically my 'The Vital Existence' story, but more time wasted writing duels. I'll probably use this thread as an author's notes thread, as well as for people to discuss.

[b]The Vital Existence[/b] [b][color=#00ff00]In Progress[/color][/b]

The Vital Existence is a high fantasy dystopian fiction novel based off Lewis Carroll's Alice books and the mythology of Japanese culture. Themes of the book primarily relate to the effects of an individual's existence on the greater cause, and how a person's existence can directly translate to a virtue of life (also shown by characters often representing a character from the world of Alice). The backdrop of the story involves a civil war between the White and Red Territories, over resources that are quite important in the world, one that has been forever plagued with mysterious and dangerous [i]yokai[/i], as academics of both Territories discovered since these highly fought-over [i]inshou[/i] stones are one of their few biological weaknesses. This slightly coerced backstory takes a lesser role, in order not to detract from the actual plot of the story which has already been moulded into one of political intrigue and very personal POVs. Just take it as a way to propel the story. I also try to convince myself that it's not weird by saying it's basically a parallel to modern oil wars where two areas try to gain the majority of the control over the resource in order to fuel it towards their own needs (be it for energy or to ward scary-ass monsters off yourself).

[b]Yu-Gi-Oh! Convergence[/b] [b][color=#ff8c00]Postponed[/color][/b]

Set in an alternate Japan, around the Sengoku period of Japan's feudal history, where, yes, indeed, YGO is a major roleplayer in military. I assume that YGO's become an important part of a samurai's bushido, where duelling is carried out in both senses. It's a war between two clans: The Minamoto and Taira clans. A third clan has fallen out of history and into myth, but have existed in quiet solitude, ready to overturn the current rulership in place. A couple of freaky things occur including *ahem* time travel and *ahem* flying machines. Once again, a story of political upheaval, but will be much more intensely action-based.

[b]Our Days[/b] [b][color=#ff0000]In Conception[/color][/b]

A realist book, set in 2012 Great Britain & Ireland. While not fully set in stone, I'll probably take a couple of families in contrasting settings and bring them together somehow. A study on the idea of karma, or the just cosmos. Major themes of poverty, drugs and the regret of our day-to-day lives. I want to get this one of the ground - it's a subject I'm quite interested in.
