I also admit that I had try to justify my opinions through the use of historical figures but I think I understand now, it's all just madness. None of the Founding Fathers should be used in this way EVER. They are dead and gone and the conflicts they fought for are old and pointless. They were a bunch of Slave-holding, homophobic, and sexist bigots who only cared about the benefits of their bureaucracy while maintaining a vigil within their own wallets. They were a bunch of hypocrites and looking up to them is honestly unbecoming and pointless. We shouldn't justify our actions like this. Guest Striker
Love them or hate them, they did make America. That is the main reason we idolize them so much.

In fact, I might not have cared either way and it POSSIBLY could have been a good thing. It all really depends but idolizing them really doesn't hold much merit. ListenToLife
I'm going to attempt to lighten the mood a little here. "Damn them filthy pigs! They stole our land from us!! WE BRITS WANT IT BACK!!!" Hehe, just joking. Anyway, to be honest, there are very few people in history you can actually admire. Because most of the men that did great things were there because they were born in a position that allowed them to. And since that position was generally one of wealth, they were taught to have prejudices like that. We can hardly blame them for their upbringing, and while we can critisize them, we can do little about it. We can merely admire what they acheived. What we can do is concentrate on the present, and trust that people can still acheive those great things, but with less of the negatives; less of the prejudice and the like. If you want other people to look up to that aren't like them, then choose people like Gandhi. Now there's a great man.But I guess it's all about a person's perspective. With the founding fathers, a lot of American's share the white-straight-male-supremacy ideal. So it's their perspective. I disagree with it, but we can do little about this. And politicians merely home in on this and use it to support themselves.
Desu the Blue Nerd
Woah, what? The founding fathers had slaves? I NEVER WOULD HAVE KNOWN UNLESS YOU TOLD ME! I DIDN'T REALIZE THAT WASN'T ALREADY COMMON KNOWLEDGE! Also, Benjamin Franklin loved to bone a bunch of chicks and knew it himself that was actually a problem of his but of course you wouldn't mention it. And you mean they didn't like dem gays like just about everybody else in their time? Well who would have f*cking known? I wouldn't because they were too busy not giving a damn about the ladies. Now you are right about one thing and that is that they were doing there thing over 200 years ago and what we are doing now is different. We are different people facing different problems and a lot of us have different ideals than what they did so saying a bunch of dead people favor whoever is indeed silly. While I'm here let me say a few things. 1) George Washington had the chance to become king the moment the war was over. Everybody f*cking loved him even if he was not a good general. Something that I thought we all knew by the way. But apparently that's a huge surprise to you along with all this stuff. Nontheless he was a general with the military on his side. But he said no and knew that was just wrong. Also that he was too old. When he became president he didn't let himself be called "your majesty". Just Mr. President. Mr., a title any male gets at birth.2) They tried some stuff without taxing. They realized that the government having no money was actually a bad thing. Although at least they got that representation. You know, that thing they were asking for.3) These are the points you made? Not even a mention that the king of Britain was ill for a long time and when he finally snapped out of it for a bit he was actually pretty cool with America becoming independant? No how the Boston Massacre was kind of just sort of exaggerated?Doesn't exactly excuse them. Now I am not saying that America would have been better off not declaring independence. In fact, I might not have cared either way and it POSSIBLY could have been a good thing. It all really depends but idolizing them really doesn't hold much merit. Well of course you wouldn't care if we never did. It's incredibly likely you wouldn't exist. Although, I kind of wish we didn't now. Although you might just be phrasing it oddly and saying if you were there at the time then who the f*ck knows? Quite frankly, you seem eneducated enough as to believe just about whatever you're told and would be the biggest supporter after hearing your precious tea has been taxed while ignoring that the reason taxes were going on is because Virginia got into a war and Britain had to save our colonist asses but because of that were now in debt. That's another thing you could have mentioned. But here's the thing, I agree with Striker here. Shocking isn't it? You'd think there'd be a black hole around just about now but he's surprisingly right. Nice job on keeping it short sweet and to the point, Striker. Although I still look to Franklin as a bit of a role model.

Desu the Blue Nerd
He's not. He's just pointing out that it was actually acceptable back then. All the cool kids were doing it.
