The Four Sons of Ra

PaladinCards

Recommended Posts

This is a set of "God Cards" for a Yu-Gi-Oh! series I am in the early stages of creating called: Yu-Gi-Oh! Resurrected.  The story is still in its early stages but it will take place before GX and 7 years after Yugi and Atem split.  But enough about that, to the cards!

These four God Cards are based on Egyptian Mythology.  There were four sons of Horus which were the canopic jars used to store a pharoh's innards after embalming.  I know that Horus and Ra are two different Egyptian Gods, but Yu-Gi-Oh! kind of mixed them, so, the Four Sons of Horus are what these four cards are based on.  These are the first versions of these cards, so feel free to critique as you like!

I know Serket, Temple, and Nephthys are all real Yu-Gi-Oh! Cards.  However, each of the 4 sons had a female protector to keep them from harm.

Imsety was protected by Isis

(Amset is protected when Aset is in the Graveyard)

Hapi was protected by Nephthys

(Hapi is protected when Nephthys is in the Graveyard)

Duamutef is protected by Neith

(Duamu is protected when Neith is in the Graveyard)

Qebehsenuef is protected by Serket

(Kabex is protected when Serket is in the Graveyard)

So, their effects were affected (pun, lol) by their actual myths.  If you want to learn more about them, click here.

So... you made 3 egyptian gods based on the realones... not very creative in my opinion.

1. Everyone could find some data from other gods of Egypt and made them as cards.
2. The most un-creative think is that you used the same type of ATK and DEF of the real Gods!!
3. The pics are good.. but the best is the one of "Neith the Almighty".

Tips:
1. Create them again by made them Divine-Beast/Effect or even XYZ Monsters.
2. Use your imagination to give them effects worthy of the Gods.
3. Find a way to give them effects to gain ATK and DEF defferent than the original Gods!

The lore could be a tad bit more invigorating, the pictures are pretty awesome, but I'm not sure if they're meant to be playable or not. Although the original cards were not playable, Shonen Jump released re-make versions with playable effects. The new artwork on the Jump Slifer, Ra, and Obelisk are really nice in my opinion. All in all, there's several sets of "Egyptian Overlord" cards already, so as mentioned, it takes a lot to stand out. The card color-over is nice, and when you're done, I'd recommend background holofoil if you can pull it off in Photoshop or something(unnecessary and the final step of course, but cool when done well).

-Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder/Raviel, Lord of Phantasms/Uria, Lord of Searing Flames/Armityle the Chaos Phantom(Sacred Beasts).

-The Winged Dragon of Ra/ The Creator God of Light Horakhty/Obelisk the Tormentor/Slifer the Sky Dragon(Egyptian Lords)

-The Wicked Avatar/The Wicked Dreadroot/The Wicked Eraser(Reverse Egyptian Lords/Wicked Lords)

P.S. If you want to make some cool replacement "Egyptian Gods", then I recommend looking at all the different types for inspiration :D

Good Luck.

P.P.S I rate them 6.5/10 as of now. You have great ideas, artwork, and potential, just need to work it a little more.

I am actually kind of changing my idea. The cards will be changed from 3 new gods to the Four Sons of Ra: based on The Four Sons of Horus in Egyptian Mythology. I'm still working on them, but they should be posted within the next few days. And these 3 cards will still be made, they just won't be gods (however, 2 of them will play an important role in the 4 new God Cards).
