Fire King Beast Chimerax

If you control a face-up "Fire King" monster: You can Special Summon this card (from your hand), and if you do, destroy 1 other monster you control. This effect of "Fire King Beast Chimerax" can only be used once per turn. When this card is destroyed and sent to your Graveyard OR sent from your Deck to the Graveyard: Add 1 Level 4 or lower "Fire King" monster from your Graveyard to your hand, except "Fire King Beast Chimerax".

 

 

... yeah, I know, the condition for activating his second effect is different from the other Fire Kings.  That was sort of on purpose.

uh, it looks OP to me. Not only triggers it "Fire King" effects, has 1800 ATK, is a Rekindling target, and makes kirin an easy +1. It's also the perfect XYZ material and discard cost. It looks like a Goka on steroids (in Fire Kings).

My Suggestion would be to change the condition for the second effect to "When this card is destroyed.... etc."

 

Other than that, the image and name of the card fits Fire Kings good, I think.

The DEF was on purpose, of course; all of the Level 4 or lower "Fire Kings", with the exception of Baby!Garunix, have 200 DEF.  But I do see your point about the very loose condition I gave to the second effect, so I changed it to the "When Destroyed" condition, but also adding the ability to trigger its effect when milled from the Deck.

 

Also, reduced ATK from 1800 to 1600.

I don't really like how it goes off if sent from the Deck to the Graveyard. You can Foolish Burial to add a dead Garunix back to your hand so you can kill it again with Yaksha and blow up the field next turn. Granted, I'm not a fan of Fire Kings in general, but this just seems OP. I'd suggest just limiting it to normal Fire King conditions.

I beg your pardon?  Chimerax only adds Level 4 or lower "Fire Kings". High Avatar Garunix is a Level 7.

Oh. I didn't notice that part. Whoops. I guess the second effect is fine, then. The best it can do is get back Yaksha.

 

However, now I'm noticing problems with the first effect. Even though you can only use it once per turn, you can have Garunix out, summon a Level 4, Special Summon this, blow up Garunix, and make an easy Rank 4.

 

I'll concede that it's not as OP as I originally thought, but being less broken than more broken cards in the game doesn't mean it's balanced.

 

Also, OCG fix: If you control a face-up "Fire King" monster: You can Special Summon this card from your hand, and if you do, destroy 1 other monster you control. (You don't need parentheses around "from your hand" if the Special Summon is by an effect and not by a Summoning condition.)
